Superwolfkid
Klei is now officially confirming the fact that Merms are indeed herbivores... but they live in a desolate wasteland that is completely empty of all crops and wildlife to grow/eat. Scrumch
You can still feed merms fish as Wurt, right? I'm assuming that Wurt is just a vegetarian out of choice.

They even use fish as some sort of currency. Merms you recruit with fish accept it as a payment, but don't eat it.
Scrumch
Huh, I stand corrected. I guess that throws out the previous explanation that merms are just 'made out of fish'.

ADM
Sounds crazy but Wurt quote on the Tentacle Lolli (Hallowed Nights candy) is "Mmm, taste like swamp!" So I guess...
TheTraditionalGentleman
Maybe they lick the moss off of their houses?
CaptainChaotica
Maybe that's why they're so mad at the pigs!--the pig villages tend to be full of all these nice berry bushes in rows, and the nasty pigses _won't let them pick any_... Also they're bogarting all the birchnuts. LAME! ...Notorious

Then Wurt has still much to learn about the ancient Merm-Folk tradition of going around and doing every day things, with a pocket full of water, and a living fish in it
Mobbstar
"Fish are friends, not food!" is an actual Wurt quote. She gets very upset when observing cooked fish in any form. Perhaps the initial conflict between Merms and Pigs was that the Pigs ate all the fish they got through trading or by chance. Entirely disregarding the Merms feelings about it is maybe not enough reason for the Merms to start war, but add to the fact Pigs eat *each other*, and... Pigs are disgusting, but in a moral sense, not a superficial one. Perhaps the only reason they attack the survivors on sight is that they look too piggish/spiderish? Not sure why Wormwood is a target, then. 2 hours ago, Rellimarual said: [Merms] don’t attack anything on sight, except pigs.
