Fossil fragments should be renewable.

Recommended Posts

Have you ever suffered by bad random who disconnected forever with all fossil fragments in your base?

Did you remember the moment when fuelweaver defeated and dropped some of his skeleton down to the bottomless depth of caves?

Fossil fragments should be renewable.

Doesn't sound like a bad idea but... How?

Quick ideas I didn't even debate with myself : maybe earthquake, or cave molefarming. Farming slurtles ? Or cave rock lobsters ? :p

Maybe normal spider dens in cave after sometime could turn into the cave spider den. A bit like petrifying trees.

Or there could be a zone a bit like the meteor field in the mosaic biome but in the caves that drops stalagmites.

I killed the fuelweaver once and all the actual loot went into the abyss good times!

What if when it rains, there's chances for stalagmites to form/grow? I mean, that's sorta like how they form in real life.

While on this topic, there was always something about the overworld stalker that got me, which was that he spawns lightbulbs, glowberries, and ferns, the first two only obtainable in the caves, normally. I thought that sinkhole entrances in caveless worlds should be replaced by a "boney rock" or something, that drops maybe 2 bone shards each. This way, you can actually get the overworld stalker on a caveless world, and actually have a means to get lightbulbs, albeit, late game.

I think they limited Fossil Fragments sources so you can't summon hundred of skeletons in the same time

If you had an unlimited quantity, you'll be free to build a infinity Nightmare Fuel Farm or place as many skeleton you want next to mob farms

So this may be why Spilagmite/Stalagmite aren't renewable in the current caves :wilsondisapproving:

So the maximum of FF you can get in your world is determinated by your luck, or patience, like you can save/rollback as many time you want next to a Stalagmite to get a lot of Fragments, yes it's "cheating" but you will have a lot of skeleboi :)

You really think people are going to kill the shadow pieces over and over and over and over for a nightmare fuel farm, or for a mob farm? Clearly there's no other cheaper, more effective ways to do that...

Could do like some of the other items, make them drop froim inventory when player leaves the server.

That would forbid you to summon the skeleton on the surface, because the fragments would drop whenever a player moves from caves to surface.

And fossil fragments can also be destroyed by meteorites so this one won't be that useful.

Farming NF is already not that hard and there are much more effective ways to do that.

More fossil fragments aren't gonna somehow change the game drastically, just allow you to build more to your liking, which is totally fine by me.

In more general terms it's more about aesthetics: if fragments were renewable, people could make all the fancy set pieces they want without having to limit themselves by a set number of fossil fragments.

I'm pretty sure they had this exact issue with the sculpture blueprints, and fixed it so they could be transferred between shards.

hmm i dont know if unlimited fossils are a good idea. normally you have like 40 - 80 per world and you can build crazy things with them. if they would be renewable i would build my whole world with traps for evry mob and giant and it would make it very easy. now i have to decite if i use them for my hound trap or for the moon stone. but i could also use them for tall birds, vargs, merms, pigs... just evrything. but i cant and thats good. what i can do is building stagehands instead but they are expensive and they can be destroyed by some mobs like bearger and they can burn.

for example you could go in caves as winona and make fossils around a bunny village and make catapults and you have forever best food.

you can just make evrywhere fossils and katapults for easy win

EDIT: im not wondering you gave me a confused smiley lakurion xxD you noob..................................

You can use stone statues as well. And if a stagehand burns, its hitbox is still active, it just isnt pretty anymore. At this point it’s just arguing extensive time waiting for them to reappear or using extensive stone to make that hornucopia wall.

yes but the stone statues require rocks and its very hard to make and place them.

dont get me wrong. im on your side. i love the fossils and often i lost them in one of my worlds because of meteors or somebody stole them.

but making them renewable means we could farm them and having hundreds of fossils. thats to hard for an item which is op as hell imo.

like i said i have always to decide where i wanna use them. otherwise i would use them for evrything cause they are so op and that would break the game for me

It's a lot easier by using a force-drop mod or equipping a chest piece to drop, both should put at the feet of the player.

It's a lot quicker with a second person dedicated to pushing the carrying person's body around than it is for the person carrying to walk into position by their self.

If the fossil walls are such a problem with renewable fossils, they could always, you know, fix the collision/placement range of them so they don't work that way anymore.

They aren't.. that's the point

maybe let them have a special chance for fossils to drop from moonrock spiders? ( for each spider killed the chance temporarily increases by 1-5% )

yea but then make fossils around a moonrock spider nest and katapults and you have a farm for fossils. katapults destroy walls. if katapults would dig fossils(not destroy) it would be fine to have them renewable

what if the chance is only applicable when the spider is killed by a player?
