Just curious who here does modded playthroughs? As for me, I'm a bit of half and half, I play vanilla sometimes and sometimes I play modded.

I mainly like playing modded solo worlds as my attention span looses interest rather quickly with vanilla. :(

As for the mods I use in modded solo worlds, I try to play whatever mods interest me and try to balance out the stronger mods with ones that add difficulty.

I do play a fair bit of vanilla too, mainly on klei officials, other vanilla dedicated servers, or group servers with friends.

I Usually Use Cosmetics (Gorge Hud, Combined Status Without Season clock or Temperature stuff, only the "show current stats" one), QoL (Status Announcement, Abigail Call DST,No Thermal Stone durability [seriously, why did they nerf the thermal stone.]) And Vanilla+ Mods (General mods that add into the game without being lore unfriendly or overpowered.)

If theres one thing I like to see in mods it's character specific quotes, I like it when mod creators do that.

Sadly it seems to not happen very often... I sometimes go out of my way to personally tweak mods to give them such quotes.

I play whatever I find fun. Generally that excludes most modded characters, as I don't find anyone's generic jailbait animu waifu at all interesting.

Same here, I tend to stick to vanilla characters, not a fan of modded characters at all really.

Nobody will ever admit they use mods with “anime characters and sans variants”.

As a weeb myself, I can approve this

I find a lot of mods **** up the feel of the game. Once I joined a server, and oh look! A giant bunnyman, two one-punch mans, and about 30 biomes in a days walk!

Wow, the options I voted for are far and away the most popular!  Huh.  That doesn't happen often.  : P  Yeah, a mix of "lore friendly and balanced" adding new things to the game, and "strictly cosmetic" for me.  I like to unbreak my heart the thermal stone, have weapons reequip (WHY DO THEY NOT, SERIOUSLY?  Armour does!), balance boss HP for a solo player, add in Shipwrecked characters (from another branch of the same universe, therefore canon-friendly), and make it so that vegetables can be preserved in an old-fashioned way for travel, too, because why should meat have all the fun?  And then, I also like to make it so that all the different animals can come in more than just one colour, as well as pig houses, trinkets, etc.  Watching orange and black and pinkish catcoons frolic through the forest is the cutest thing evar.  :)

YES to the thermal stone.  Seriously, that annoys me.  Yes, there are meteors now, making rocks more renewable, but...10 rocks, 3 flint and a pickaxe AND one more thing to have to watch all the time...in a world where potentially MORE people are gonna be needing those 10 rocks?  Each?  For a _temporary_ thing?

This is exactly why "More Maxwell Intros" is one of my favourite mods for singleplayer.  :)

One-Punch Man is just...no, but I have a feeling I know what the "30 biomes in a day's walk" and "giant bunnyman" were.  SOMEbody was using the Multiworld/Megarandom mods without reading further down the page, to the part where the modders advise making a _huge_ world instead of normal-sized, so everything wouldn't be so crowded!  : P  Ever seen one of my "Easter Bunny" screenshots?

Yeah, that's from that.  Mind you, those mods are STILL bonkers crazygonuts in general, if used at their default settings.  I do stuff like take cave and ruin biomes off the surface and stretch out the world itself a bit, and it works much better.  I do like the _idea_ of the more variety content that comes with those mods...it just needs a hair of tweaking first.  : P

As for the overpowered anime mods...now, if anybody made an anime-looking character that actually played in a BALANCED way, that'd be different, and maybe there are already some like that!  But stuff like...the typical of that category has unfortunately given the whole thing a bad reputation...  (Well, "Wirlywings" from the updated Cherry Forest mod is anime-ish in style and freaking ANNOYING to play as, like, mygod, that girl goes insane so fast!--but she's not an actual character from an _existing_ anime plopped into DS wholesale, so I guess she doesn't quite count.)

...Notorious

client sided qol mods like status announcements (saves typing), gesture wheel (saves typing), food values (saves wiki), crockpot guide (saves wiki).

Also for the forge, the forge ui extender since it lets me open regular chests from playing the forge.

I mainly use small things like, No Thermal Stone durability. Thermal stone durability does seem a bit silly to me tbh. Or like, how many days are left in the season because I'm too lazy to do the math and figure it out myself. Ain't hard for me to remember how many days are in each season, I just don't feel like it XD

but I would absolutely get a mod that disables other players status announcements

What? Why? The mod makes it a lot faster to share information that you would otherwise have to type manually.

It’s primarily a spamming mod. You could save even more time by not mentioning your prebuilt fires and 15 missing sanity.
