Sicko Hog
I can't see a thread entirely about unused mushroom textures lasting very long, so I'm just gonna hijack it and post all the unused DS stuff I've built up over a few months. Here's two unused DST map icons. A purple mushroom and a roped-off cave entrance. Here's unused DST inventory icons. Two different versions of each Teleportato part, three different kinds of long pig, a scared batilisk, and a snowball. The snowball is probably related to... The snowman! No idea how this guy was supposed to be assembled. Here's an artist rendition. (disclaimer: I am not an artist) Here's some unused DS inventory icons. The accomploshrine (only craftable on the console versions of the game, even the Wii U, though it doesn't have any actual achievements), clothes, an empty bucket, a handheld eyebrella, a gramophone, three records, a scarecrow, a dead snake, and a bag. The Eyebrella was originally a handheld item during the early access of RoG, and its old textures are still in the game! There was an early version of Shipwrecked shown at PAX Prime 2015, here's all the differences I noticed from what little was recorded, put into a spoiler so I don't stretch the page out. Spoiler Sandy piles have plants near them, similar to ponds. Seagulls were fatter and slept on the ground like idiots. Limpet rocks looked pretty disgusting. Prime apes were just recolored Splumonkeys, and spawned out of their barrels. Picking up coconades also made them explode... Yeah. Shoals had map icons. Windbreaker was a recolored vest. The shore looked ugly... And the swamp looked even uglier! Dirt piles spawned on the water. Glad to know Shipwrecked was always so buggy. Here's two other changed textures. And an early Warly silhouette. Unused Glommer Animations It won't let me embed these so here's a giant link. Pretty neat! In the final version of Shipwrecked, there are a lot of unused creatures that, while they don't have textures, they still have sounds! Here's a video I made showing one of my favorites, the Kelp Guard! Finally, here's a link to the Unimplemented Features page of the Don't Starve gamepedia, where you can find even more unused stuff! Disregard this post, read Rellimural's below Since they can be replanted it would be pretty cool to have kelpguards actually. (disclaimer: I am not an artist) Note quite. It was actually more snake-like than a traditional snowman. Here are all the animations the Snowman (and by extension the Snowpile) had back in the early days of Don't Starve: Spoiler As with my Slipstor post, since the assets have already been removed from the game, I assume Klei wouldn't want transparencies of individual animations posted. So, the gif above has all the animations shrunk into a single compressed file. Generally almost everything in the world is either something real or something derived from something real. Living snowmen and Slipstor are very goofy fantasy enemies. Rily
nice one with the snowman, I made my own version to trick some friends when the last winter feast update came out, I would like to know how it would look complete, please klei, if we will never see him in game can we see him as concept art? Korlie
Just now, Zeklo said: We literally have Santa Claus from hell. I'm sure murderous Frosty the Snowman would work fine. Demons are mythological though, and significantly more serious then an animate snowman that eats and shoots snowballs at people. If there was more logic to it then it wouldn't be as bad, like if players could construct a giant Nightmare Before Christmas-esque snowman and imbue it with magic to make it animate. But the snowman Klei made is just a generic, sentient snowman thing that looks mildly threatening.
