Onwards! One of my first stops was the cherry forest, (I'd never finished mapping its borders), and apparently I made a good impression on the "Cherry Forest Ambassador" from last time I was here, 'cos they brought friends. Hi guys! I brought honey nuggets for the tailgate party! (aka my inventory was full AGAIN. Actually, these guys wouldn't eat that anyway. They're vegetarians.) Well at least it'll be a really SHORT summer. I love how the kitty is looking at the orange tree too, like "Huh, my human seems to be happy about this, but I don't get it. I better look real close to find out." So of course I took screenshots while I was here; I couldn't resist. EEE! LOOKIT THE LITTLE DRAGONFLY! ...no, not THAT Dragonfly. The normal kind. Well, if you can call a creature that is a bug the size of a small bird, moves like a little WWI fighter plane, and occasionally groups up in evenly-spaced _squadrons_ (I saw this right outside my front porch one day; it was freaky) "normal"... Multiple kitties, pretty fall-colored shade, and cherry petals. What else do you need? Yeah you know that fall I was so happy about? It's over already. Here we are traipsing through The Dark Forest, on our way straight into a Grimms' Fairy Tale. And I think this picture turned out better, but they're both cool. The only reason I CAN take these pictures is because it's winter, you realise. Otherwise, the whole foreground of the screen would be LEAF! Good lord, it's like a freaking penguin CONVENTION up in here! Why is everyone headed to exactly the same area? I hadn't realised how BRIGHT the Painted Pig Houses looked in the winter! (Even better in daylight, but I _just_ missed that when I hit the screenshot button.) Look at all the colours! An abandoned MGoose nest? I've only ever seen the nesting sites either occupied, or completely empty. Then again, the last batch of seasons in this world went SO fast it doesn't surprise me Mama Goose didn't have time to clean house. Guuuuyyyys, I think my Deerclops is stuck. Should I try rebooting her, or just get a new one? (Well, I did bring by a nice puppy as a companion, later on. ...or ten.) GLOMMY! Finally, after all those full-moon nights that were too short to get here in time/I forgot about... So of course the second we get home, Charmander has to Assert her Dominance over the new pet by using his summoning-item as a bed. XD The Summer Lounge in winter--I decided to spruce up the place a bit. ...I wish that could be a tree pun, but unfortunately the one here is a birchnut. And last but not least--Willow as she was always meant to be: In front of a GIANT WALL OF FLAME! (GIANT TWIGGY TREE: (photobombs the picture)) Alternate caption: I've heard of firewalls, but THIS is RIDICULOUS! (In case you're wondering: Apparently if a giant _birch_ tree catches on fire (from the "Big Birchnuts Together" mod), instead of a really tall fire, you get a really FAT fire. It's near the "Summer Lounge", which I made in a decently central location. Also my Deerclops eventually ended up there, but I never got a good picture of it. " (sakura petals flutter by on the wind) Or, the very first picture I took with it, a Steam friend (whom I _think_ also posts here? or used to?) called it "My Neighbor Catcoon". (This was taken with a really early version of the mod; I think only a day or two after it first hit the Workshop? Of course, autumn + dusk is also to blame for the MUCH pinker petals, but still...) For those of you who are confused, this biome is from the Cherry Forest MOD, and consoles can't use those. So... I was also using: Animal Variety (pinkish catcoon) Shipwrecked Characters (Walani) and (the old version of) Thirst (the kidney icon), in case anyone wonders. It makes a new biome in the world, with its own turf, creatures (the Cherrylings, which you've seen a few times in this thread), and rules (and the old basic birch-forest stuff--catcoons, pigs, ponds, the occasional rock, etc.). You can whack a full-grown tree a few times (used ta have ta KILL 'em!) to get a cherry or two, and then you can eat it plain/cooked, use it for crock pot recipes, or take it home and start your own orchard. The newer version also has stuff like little dragonflies (SO CUTE), new statues, flowers, and random petals sometimes blowing right by the camera. You can argue Climate Temperature all day long as your reasoning, But my counter Argument is that I’m playing a game with Portals & Wormholes... Im pretty sure “Climate” is Irrelevant at that point. Main-island Japan? Washington? Both temperate. The Shipwrecked biomes...I still like the idea that one day you could just sail away into the ocean and find tropical biomes on ISLANDS, as if you'd travelled into another climate. One of the photos I was putting together for Hallowed Nights 2019! (If you don’t Remember I said I was going to do a 2019 scene by placing several time lapsed photos into the same image but my World met an Unfortunate end before I could finish all the photo’s I wanted..)
