Wes is considered OP? Why..!?

Recommended Posts

I heard Wes is best and Wolffrid is weak and not very useful in the late game, as well as super bad at everything in the early days.

I can't even keep my sanity low so I think we could have a discussion forever about why is Wes OP, other than the obvious cheaty balloons (pls nerf).

Feel free to add pictures of awesome OP survivors.

I'm just gonna leave this here    ノ( ゜-゜ノ)

"Flare, Klei here again. We've noticed that you've been away from Don't Starve Together for at least 2 hours. We're just wondering if everything is okay. Is it still Wes? We're serious about nerfing him if he's too buff for you. Our viewbots are ready to bring you much ad revenue. Thank you Flare, hope to see you soon!"

(for those who dont use twitch its modified copypasta from Kripp's stream)

Wes is one of those characters that can be deadly if played right. The invisible balloon shotgun along with the M1-me assault rifle are deadly end-game weapons. I killed Bearger one time without even having to move my postion. The mime mines are even deadlier, and a well placed stack of them makes toothtraps redundant. Yeah, the survivor skin is the only acceptable skin for him just because of that.

Don't forget that with other characters, a misclick can produce a highly distracting description that can be mistaken for chat.  Every other character is literally a walking liability that can distract the whole team.  But not so Wes.  Your teammates will never mix up written chat with pantomime item examination.  Wes therefore excels at keeping your team coordinated and focused, and is thus the best at not starving together.

Wes is zen. He's focused. He's got his game face on. He's not here to socialize. He's not even here to survive, he's here to thrive. And that he does.

I have never seen a character description so well put in my life before.giphy.gif

Ive mentioned before that wes needs a few changes to stop being so OP and easy mode:

  • He should read the codex umbra and be able to spawn shadow mimes by using 3 nightmare fuel. Shadow mimes have 1 hp, pretend to work imitating everything you do, but doing nothing useful, just follow you around.
  • Popping baloons should damage wes regardless of distance. They should even trascend the universe: if a baloon is popped in some server, all Wes's in the multiverse of servers will suffer the consequence of dealing with balloonmancy.
  • Wes should be able to use willow's lighter differently: as soon as he equips it, his highly flammable makeup will light him on fire, effectively providing light  and heat for the team, at the cost of most of Wes's hp.
  • Wes is too op to use wigfrids helmet, breaking the helmet as soon as he equips it.
  • Wes should be able to read wicker's book birds of the world, summoning a small army of immortal smallbirds that will chase and try to kill Wes for a day before despawning.
  • Wes can summon his dead brother from the grave. Wes owed a lot of money to his brother, therefore this poor undead soul will instantly seek revenge, turning Wes into a zombie. Zombie Wes deals less damage , moves slowly and has a higher hunger rate.
  • Wes is cursed by reverse weremime: He's a mime most of the year, but during full moons he'll turn into a lawyer. Lawyer Wes grows a magnificent law firm.
  • More to be added.

Yeah, balloons deal damage and even chain together with other balloons to deal mass amounts of damage to enemies, or yourself if you're not careful.

To add to this: You can pop the balloons as a ghost too :^)

I admit I killed a few people by asking for a res and standing in a pile of balloons until they come and meet their fate

I won't judge you for liking Wes.  I can understand that you may like his balloons (a great way to distract mobs and kill them.  Though I would not consider Wes OP.  Low damage, big hunger drain paired with small hunger pool, lower health, average sanity, and no warning of attacks.  Though sure, go ahead and nerf him...
