Ladies and germs gents,

please sate my curiosity: why do you think Wendy-specific skins seem so coveted? Is it some inherent attraction to adolescent blonde girls? I'm simply curious. They remain impossibly pricey on the market, so they must be popular. They even outclass Wilson, the everyman, and Wigfrid. I get it these three, plus Wickerbottom, give powerful perks with little to no drawbacks, but then again Wendy still rules (and Wickerbottom isn't that expensive in spite of being rather OP). Why is it so? Do people really specialise in Wendy? They are numerous on servers, but so are the remaining three I mentioned.

Yeah, I don't see why everyone loves Wendy so much either. I mean sure, Abigail is useful, but she's not as useful as being friends with spiders, or being a beaver, or having a beard. 

I mean, look at our RP server, @Arlesienne; somehow we ended up having TWO Wendies, and about 80% of the watchers also went Wendy. There HAS to be some sort of appeal to the blond git...

To me, the Wendy phenomenon is extremely odd... Like you said, Wendy is useful because of Abigail but she really isn't that enjoyable (to me at least). Perhaps it's because she's emo... Maybe it's because she's cute on the outside and soul-less on the inside... Maybe people just like her backstory.

In the end, I honestly just dunno.

Maybe the immense popularity of the cute emo girl gives some indications as to the game's playerbase...

I play Wendy often because I like the less sanity drain and minion. Making them useful in caves. I also just like the concept of two sisters in which one has died.

Overall I just enjoy their playstyle. *shrug*

On paper, Wendy sounds like a beginner friendly character. She has a ghost, and she gets less of a sanity drain from certain things. Abigail can hit multiple enemies and gets stronger when nighttime comes. Wigfrid makes spears and helmets for everyone, and can absorb her enemies' souls. Wickerbottom has books. That's it.

I've seen a lot of Wendy players in my time. Lots. I guess people really like having Abigail around to do some damage. Especially when there's more than one Wendy player in a server. That's when it gets ridiculous. Plus, her alternate skins look nice.

For aesthetical reasons, I would say. Her appearance changes alot with many items, often for the better (she looks more cool/mysterious/different/etc, yeah). Other characters look.... well.. bland (with some sets). Either that, or the change in appearance is not too apparent. For example, Willow's Guest of Honor and Triumphant sets look very much alike (almost identical, until you start scrutinizing).

I like how depressive she is, and the sound of her voice with her texts are pretty cool. I'm not a Wendy main, but I enjoy using her sometimes.

I thought Wes skins would be expensive, being that kind of memish character for skilled players. His Survivor and Triumphant skins look so badass, and they are pretty cheap compared to others. If I was good enough to play Wes I'd totally go for that Survivor one. Some day

Hello, Maxwell. Keep smiling. This one is far from bland. Well, okay, most skins are pleasantly nice, well made and to my liking. Even though not all skins are standing out very much, if you will. Looking different or unique can be a determining factor. However, you got a point that there is a big discrepancy when it comes to the pricing of Wendy skins on the market. I'll leave the speculations out for now.

Exactly. Wes is great over the general design of not having obvious perks. Here, only the skill of the player matters.

And his sex-appeal. Don't judge me. I'm a weak woman.

That's exactly why. They're cool skins but if you don't or can't play Wes then people don't have a need to buy them.

Probably so. Good for me neither Willow nor Wes are popular, because I can trade for them and hoard them all .

 I really dislike Wendy. She was first character I scored 300 days in RoG. Abigail was a disaster, being summoned by mistake and only draining my sanity. I was killing her right after. She is not useful in the late game. Your damage stays weak while sanity is also not a problem anyway. I never played her in DST so far. Wendy skins fans are like Apple fanboys.

... need. Seriously? I don't want to start an argue, but skins are for pure show, and Wes is exactly that. So my theory has a point. Of course I understood not many people may use him when I checked the prices. But can we not link the term "need" to the skins thing? That makes it uglier

Oh wait. Does that mean it is actually a set of two skin pieces? I thought "The Triumphant" would be full body, not just the head

The triumphant affects body, but only 'base' - for example, it changes WX's color and makes his chasis more smooth.

You're talking to a skin collector. I got a Wes skin purely for show even though I don't play him.

In the simplest sense, the Wes market consists of people who play Wes and people who simply like skins.

Alright. So... does that mean these Cool Shadow Clothes and the other from the same category can be used by every character? I'm a bit confused, these seem to be a clothing set for a character, but steam market doesn't separate them when you search for characters.

I main Wigfrid and Wickerbottom, but their skins just aren't that interesting.  Well, Rose Collection Wigfrid is, but that's not an option.  I should probably add Wes to the list of characters I need to practice using, along with Wolfgang.  Plus it's cheaper to get skins for them than Survivor and Triumphant Wendy.

And yes, the distinguished clothes can be used by anybody.

The clothes themselves can be used by any character. For instance, WX can wear a Shadow Spider body. However, the heads, can only  be used by the corresponding character.

Exactly, I use Cool Shadow Clothes on all. They're veritably the best item.

It's a classic. Remember I got it as a drop and tested it way too much before finding a home for it than sanity would require...

I agree with 2 of the theories previously mentioned, and I think its a mix of both at the same time:

• Beginner friendly character: there are always a lot of wendy's on most servers, and I think the reason is that most people think kiting is hard/impossible when they start and Abigail will solve all their fightning needs (For a beginner being able to kill the early hound attacks and occasional spiders is more than enough)
• She's a "cute sweet looking, but dark inside" kinda character which makes many people like her. Paired with the fact that for many people she's "they only character they survive fights with", it makes her quite popular, if not the most popular character.

There have been polls about characters popularity in different threads here over the months, and Wendy was not selected as one of the most popular ones. And I believe that's because we, the people of these forums, do not represent the majority of players: most casual players that fit within ONLY the two reasons stated above, are not a part of these forums community (Most of us that are here, is because we're not that casual about the game)

Of course you can like Wendy for these and any other reasons, and still be a decent player, Im not implying Wendy is just a "noob character" by any means, do not get me wrong. I'm just saying it does appeal many of the new or casual players.
