I mean, okay, a living animal probably wouldn't jump in, but things like tumbleweeds get stuck on basically nothing. If you're chasing something, the easiest way is to make it get stuck on a wall of good ol' thin air. Normal sleeping doesn't heal you but if you build a tent or stick some fur on your roll now your character will feel better Also you lose a lot less hunger sleeping at dawn then you do at night even if the day or dawn are longer then nighttime makes sense to me.
