Wave after Wave

Something strikes from within the churning fog of ink. The barbed tongue rockets out towards Meri, sending an explosion of black liquid into the water further around them. It ricochets off of Meri's face, leaving a noticeably large gash. The recoil sends the tursai spinning backwards, ink trailing around it, making a dangerously large cloud spread into the already dark waters. It retreats into its shell completely until it stops.

________

It pauses to hone in on Malii's location. The tursai charges towards her in the fury of losing its potential meal.

Malii squeals and dashes out of the disgusting tursai's way. It could of either been really evil, or it was just mad that she had bitten his face. Doesn't matter. What matters most is the fact that it wants her dead. That's kind of important.

While chaos happened below, Otto was sitting up on deck. He had caught a fish while everything went down. Otto was staving. He took out the fish and started eating it raw. Fish was not a huge part of an otters diet (true fact) but still edible. There was still many fish in this birds mouth to go around. Otto will go hunt later for any mussels, clams or any other small shell creatures he can find.

(This is the stuff I actually look up while posting sometimes XD )

Meritursas hisses in pain as the tongue slices through his carapace, pulling out a stringy piece of bleeding, purple meat.  He growls in anger, and starts to pursue his enemy when a bit of the ink gets into his wound.  It starts to sting painfully.  Was the ink...poison?!?!?

He withdraws, trying to think up a plan.

As the turai stops spinning, it emerges from its shell almost completely to stretch its slimy limbs like whiskers through the dark mass of venom, trying to feel the water and where it was going in regards to Meri.

________

The beast crashes into the water where Malii once was, sending a large amount of water showering over the deck of the boat, and the boat itself almost onto its side.

Noctimus squeals loudly, and begins shivering again. Silven's fur was soaked, and it couldn't warm the lil' pup up.

---

Malii charges at the beast, mouth open wide and grip tight on Viridis and Trevor. This thing wouldn't have her or her friends for supper tonight! Or tomorrow! Or the next day! Or the next day! Or the next day! Or the next day! Or the next day! Or the next day! Or the next day!

(Famen and Angelle, professional get-tossed-off-boat-smen.)

Meritursas takes the chance to quickly reach his head forward and grab one of the tentacles.  He starts dragging the creature out of its ink cloud, only to find it's much, much bigger than he is.

Huh, maybe the sky god just couldn't hear him then? Clearly he needed to get higher, so the most logical course of action was to balance on the guardrail, because everyone knew there was no danger in that at all.

"Helllllooooooooooo??? Hi, this is Syndir humble servant to the goddess of flame. I believe you two may know each other. In the matter of fact, she's aboard this very vessel. Yeah the one you currently have docked in your mouth! Funny right? Well no not really, they are probably quite perturbed... say where even are they? Huh I could have sworn they were just here... Ha, anyway the point is I don't think you want to be on bad terms with them you know? If they were to get fired up inside your beak, well it would get quite toasty for all of us in here, and by that of course I mean we'd all be burned to a crisp and die. We're all just mere mortals though so you probably don't care about that, but what you do care about is yourself yeah? Of course you do, and an eruption of flame in your mouth might sound tasty, but let's be honest... it's really not. You'd probably have a burnt throat for like... the rest of this avatar of yours' life! No sore throat medicine is gonna fix that either! It's really just that bad! My point is you really got to let us out of here before things get out of hand! It's clearly in your benefit."

Oh, and then Syndir lost his balance.

It's tugged out of its cover and greeted by the teeth of Meritursas on its tentacle. It tries to recoil, dragging the tursai closer to its wailing mouth, slithering tongue of spines, and salivated concoction.

_______

Malii lands a perfect blow, while still managing to make things worse for herself in terms of disgust. A majority of the eyes on the left side of its face pop like water balloons, and it shakes desperately to escape her jaws whilst crying out.

_______

The leviacan is too busy contemplating why kids love the taste of cinnamon toast crunch to hear Syndir's pleas.

Meritursas quickly lets go; he couldn't risk getting hit in the face by that tongue again.  Instead, he switches to using his tail to drag the creature, his tendrils holding it in a death grip.

"What do you think happened? A big flippin pelican ate us and now we're trapped here with God knows how many Tursai out to kill us. Unless the pelican kills us first." Famen said, noticeably aggravated. He put Angelle down to run to the bottom of the ship. "Now if you excuse me..." Famen said, dragging the boat cannon he found to the side of the ship, loaded it with a coconade, and proceeded to aim at the ugly Tursai. "Bomb voyage! Malii get out of the way!Famen screamed at the top of his lungs as he let the coconade fire into the air, and land near the ugly Tursai.

It lashes out at Meritursas' grip weakly and slowly with its tongue, pain shooting up through its body from the scratching and pinching of its own sensitive tendrils.

The coconade hits the tursai square on the head as it explodes. It yowls, retreating into the water completely. It doesn't return for the time being, but it will remember this.

He bolts away from her strike, curling up his body and swinging to the side using the tendril as an anchor.  He starts biting at the meaty place where the creature's body meets its shell, completely ignoring its words.

A shrill scream escapes her as she coils around Meri in a mass of tentacles, squeezing with every ounce of strength in attempt to crush him bone for bone before he can tear her from her shell. She projects a spitball of ink from her mouth, which spreads quickly through the water in their struggle.

Meri's carapace is strong enough to withstand the tursai's crushing grip; but not for long.  He can already feel it starting to strain.  He tries to wriggle his way out from between the tendrils, all while continuing to attack the fleshy spot while he has the chance.  Blood starts to cloud the water, mingling with the ink.
