New UI Preview Branch - Now Available!

Recommended Posts

@SethR So Seth I forgot to ask: what is going to happen to that Don't Starve board game you were working on? Also I think Clown Baby (during one of his last live streams) was asking why you don't make one last fire side chat?

Nevertheless I will never forget your contribution to Don't Starve, and the sense of humor you shared with the community (especially when Mark was around you). I think we will all miss you, and hopefully see you around again soon (perhaps in a surprise cameo). Good luck with your new job in San Francisco. Hopefully there you will forget about the whole spelling of the word “color” thing.

Hey SethR

You will be sorely missed, Klei will not be the same without you. You always rejoiced us with your "Fireside Chats (with a video game designer)" I personally thank you for making DS and DST "Best game ever" Thanks for your hard work, again and again thanks for everything.

Good luck!

Nothing's happening with the board game--it was just a side/personal project. I expect to continue iterating on the design, just for my own edification/developing my design skills. But, as Don't Starve is Klei's property, that's about the extent of it unless something changes.

As for the fireside chat, I'm pretty massively busy with trying to wrap everything up before I leave, but maybe I'll find some time. I'll talk to folks about it :-)

Thanks again for all the kind words! I will retrain my fingers to type "color" soon enough, haha.

I'm liking the new start up screen. It feels like an advertisement poster for some entertainment show. The emblems and text at the bottom really add some humor too. I can't quite read the text above the "Sequal of sorts" on the bottom right though, it's really blurry in-game. "something together something all of his friends"

Awesome, the new UI is perfect, and now we can see who are the other players, all is more efficient now even the new music is pretty catchy and a little weird, BUT, the new loading screen is... well, dont like it, I prefer the old one with the giants but is just my opinion. anyway, thanks for all your contributions SethR

I'm reading it as:

"WILSON TOGETHER

with ALL OF HIS FRIENDS"

That's kinda awkward but that's what I see.

Just got to test out the new UI, and so far so good. Everything I've tried so far has been working as intended, haven't fully explored all the menus and extra new stuff yet but I will definitely do so soon. Hopefully it's not too late say, thank you Seth for this very beefy post on the New UI Preview Branch and for everything else you've done within Klei from start to finish.

Really, Thank you.

Cheers with trinket_26's!

The new UI looks pretty cool so far, the new background music is especially delicious and stuff is ordered pretty tidy.

And the art fits the game style more than the previous one, in my opinion. I have two things to point out though.

Both are about the "Mods" category that lists your... well, mods. Whenever you try to update or delete one of your mods, such as by modifying its configurations or simply disabling it, you are logged out onto the first screen of the game when you hit APPLY. And you have to manually relog to reacess the main menu, which can get annoying as a modder (or someone that abuses chunks of mods to git god at the game).

The second one is centered about the customization or the settings of a mod, basically the configurations. If there are configurations, their description/option names have to shorten themselves into a tiny box of test to have sense. There is a limit on how much text there can be. Let's take this for example; it ends abruptly.

A tiny little bit of extra space would be nice. Also, you now can't hide your password upon setting up a server, everyone that streams a private server is vulnerable! Other than that, fine with me.

My sister uses a Mac, and whenever she tries to log on to test the new beta screens and such, it crashes before she can even do anything, and it's a frustrating problem for both of us since we want to try a new world where we can choose which biomes the world generates with and so on.

PS: here is the her log entry:

@SethR You will be honorably missed you wondrously odd man. ;_;7

It will be strange looking to the state above me and waving and not being able to say hi.

You will be forever in our hearts if you disappear, clam man.

Also, side note. Love the changes that have been made.

A tad confusing right now with all the server stuff being on the other side and all but it's very organized and I like that!

Following that, the 'thank-you' page, is it not working just yet or?
