What biomes would you like to see?

Recommended Posts

Fans always end up mkaong more entertaining ideas than devs themselves, so I want to take a peek into your degenerate minds

I'd like to see a sort of counterpart to the Lunar Grotto. Since the caves are shadow territory, then a shadow counterpart could be a leak of nightmare fuel in the sea, which could corrupt sea stacks and salt stacks into gems or dreadstone, or something new? It could also reveal some ancient ruins, but that would probably mess with the lore, so maybe add a new corrupted boss, maybe a sort of shadow angler fish, or corrupted malbatross? It could also be deep into the caves, connected to the ruins, as a sort of origin to nightmare fuel

I would like to see the tundra biome, this has already been mentioned. he is, yes, I would like to see him , as for me this is a biome that will fit well into the dst .

As well I would like to see a pine forest ,pine trees about the size of the trees from the "shipwreck" it would be very diverse ordinary spruce forests

I'm not sure it's possible to really implement in DST but some sort of mountain valley biome. Thinking giant mountains that reach up into the sky like pillars and the big tree do and the player can only navigate in a valley between them.

Some kind of cave giant/troll could be the boss battle of the region. Other mobs could be beagles (eagle/beagle hybrids), mountain goats, some kind of snow leopard creature. Biome could host a lot more flint and conifers.

Again, not sure the verticality of a mountain biome works well in DST.

Tundra would be awesome with maybe a frozen core that is extremely cold (requires warm clothing and a hot thermal stone or constant dwarf stars with great treasure within).

A jungle similar to hamlet but with it's own unique mobs and challenges. Jungle treeguards would be sweet.

New cave biomes of any sort, it gets real boring down there late game.. an overhaul of all three mushtree biomes with a new unique mob for each would be nice.

A new but very different swamp biome that is more mangrove than swamp with the water beefalo ported across. They're so damn cute.

A desolate wasteland biome with constant thunderstorms like moonstorms but with normal lightning striking the ground constantly and areas of fog that require goggles. Could have nasty mobs and large areas of nothing but rare gems and stones found in certain spots. Similar mobs to depthwurms that pop out of the ground to attack you.

As has been suggested in the past randomised challenge crypts/temples like the ones in hamlet that are different every time, have to be completed to proceed (if you die you are booted out as a ghost and it collapses/crumbles like in Aladdin until a new one respawns). Could be three or four overall themes that offer different rewards, drops and mobs.

A portal to the actual surface of the moon/Altar would be pretty epic. Lunar island on steroids. Hands that come out of lunar fissures and try to kill you. A gestalt boss etc. Pure brilliance and other great drops in abundance but tons of danger. A new mob that drops brightshade husks.

Another area of the archives with a nightmare grotto (opposite of lunar grotto) as suggested above. Similar archives but with distilled knowledge for new recipes.

Mostly not very original and mainly ideas I've seen on here before but there's plenty I'd love to see!

Crab King gets his own dedicated biome

(King's Plunder biome),

- Full of shipwrecks, dead trees, kelp on sea stacks that can be harvested, maybe even reeds in the ocean!

- The water gets its own distinct color too. A very dark shade of green.Mudfish will be the only ocean fish spawning in this biome.

- Pebble crabs make a return and can be seen crawling on sea stacks or dead trees within the biome. Maybe crawling around on the king himself

- Crab King can now been seen wandering around his territory, targeting random ocean fish that spawn. He will crawl back to the center of the biome in a skittish manner if a player gets too close. (To allow the player to socket in gems)

I’d like to see a dead forest, basically a forest full of trees that will never grow.

spiders could be common, but bats having a tree spawner would be pretty neato.

graves could be more common in these forests

no grass or twigs will grow in this forest at all

basically these trees require few chops to get wood (five less “chops” per size) but wont regrow naturally (any trees planted in the dead forest will grow then transition into the “dead” state randomly during one of their stages)

maybe mushrooms are more active in this biome, all types being active during the dusk perhaps?

honestly i want vibes more than anything from a new biome. It doesnt have to be earth breaking, some scenery would be nice

Any new biome at this point would be a big win, but I would like something related to caves, whether it's a slime biome or another mushroom biome, giant mushrooms? I wonder if the next update of the portals could trigger some event that makes new biomes possible, an entire island has already emerged from these portals...

Acidic part of the ocean, filled with all sorts of weird creatures and plants. There's an island there where Biig Foot's body lays on the shore, it's regenerative flesh constantly fighting with (and feeding) the acidic waters. A Constant's take on a whale fall if you will.

An entire ecosystem thriving in a deadly environment, all fueld by an incapacitated immortal creature

i had an idea where the rifts would anchor down and create a new biome with a super mega rift in it, so the stupid brightshades would only spawn there and the brightshade gestalts waves would become way less frequent

like the shadow rift biome could be an eerie muddy swamp filled with giant dreadstone stalagmites, miasma and decayed mushtrees, while the lunar rift could be a big, desolate beach island in the middle of the ocean, with a bunch of mutated stuff from the bottom of the sea, and also pure brilliance formations

Talked about it before, but living island. Like a creature that swims in the ocean and you can hop on it's back and build and stuff, some weird symbiotic plants could grow on top of it, maybe flying fish would sunbathe on top, it could poop out seastacks or something. I don't want to go into details because imagining stuff too much makes me want it and I get mad -_-

Well, how can I not think of more than one, here are all the ones I thought of

-Valle Woodland:a dense and closed forest (similar to the hamlet) with wild traps, valuable treasures and
much mystery

-Boulder Den: A new biome in the caves surrounded by moss, vegetation and lots of stone. There you would locate an ancient and almost extinct rock lobster civilization in which you could help to rise again.

-Magma Swamp: A peculiar biome found again in the caves which resembles a swamp, but with rivers of lava, steam geysers and scalding creatures like magma itself

-lunar infection: A new "artificial" biome in which it could be created with something called "lunar infection" in which it would  mutate the normal things of the overworld into lunar variations, both things already known and also several new things

-Electronic Zone: An extremely strange biome found somewhere lost in the ocean. Its main characteristic is that its vegetation, flora and fauna is covered with mechanical things, such as tesla trees, metal debris and LOTS of gear.

(Maybe a certain scientist could create this kind of thing...)

*Bonus*

When I read the post I immediately imagined a kind of "living island" that would appear from time to time in different places in the ocean. Maybe a giant turtle with a biome on its back, full of new and unique things waiting to be discovered. (But I know this is almost impossible to happen :(  )

Lava caves.

For something planned back in DS' early days, as far back as when Willow was first added, they sure have been elusive.

Hell, their most recent mention was back when the Grotto first came out!

I know they want it, I want it, we want it! Grahh!

I would like Wagstaff to open a new portal somewhere in the ocean. but this would also be unsuccessful, and a new island would be formed, and Mumsy, Billy, Pipton, Sammy and a couple of Swamp Pig would come out of it. You can bring a lot of things here, for example, plants for the garden - Wheat and Turnip. Pigeons will fly around the island, they will also fly to where the player has put a lot of buildings. and also more interactions with NPS.You can get a plow for beefalo. Which will allow very easy to plow the beds. There are many more ideas you can come up with tied to these islands
