ShyRasan123
Followers usually always kill the deer while fighting klaus. Its really annoying when your characters main way of DPS is followers. I feel like followers should just not target the deer no matter what. Would having them target klaus instead at all times cause any balance concerns? Well-met
Working as intended. Not every boss can be dealt the same, you'll have to fight Klaus yourself.
Wardin25
Is it really a big problem? In my experience with Wurt the elemntal attacks usually kill all followers before the deers fall, and all they do is chip a bit at klaus
ADM
I think it's quite alright the way it is to cause bits of chaos (as in a way its a gimmick of the boss) but having a way to demand follower to reorganise to focus on a target COULD be nice, what if whip attacks were sending a re-targeting for followers to give this weapon a bit more love ? I think that would be a bit op for everyone to have, it'd be better for a character focused on follower combat In fact, in uncompromising mode Walter has been reworked for hand to hand combat to be quite bad for him, instead going for a Pikmin-like combat system (literally uses a whistle) Where he can order followers to attack and retreat, I think he can actually tell them a position to run to. I havent actually tried it on a run but from testing it seems fun
Captain_Rage
Fun fact: if a deer stands close to Klaus it might get hit it when he lashes out with his claws.

_zwb
I wish the deer can separate out a bit more, there's no space for even just 2 players as you would push each other onto the deer.
Horsheen
This is just one of the many things I love about boss variety, the same strategy won't work against all bosses, so you need to adapt
Gashzer
Klaus is the opposite strategy wise to bee queen. Klaus better you fight without followers, bee queen is better to fight with followers. Â
Baark0
Honestly I hate more the amount of deer that add up around the world after every klaus kill, and while I could kill them, it becomes a whole process since you can't just stunlock them anymore because of the dumb kiting changes made when Wanda was released. The red gem deer is very susceptible to the ice staff. Also one sleep dart is enough to handle a krampus. I don't know how effective sleeping the deers is, but it takes 4 darts to sleep one. ShadowDuelist
I think OP’s concern Wurt only. Although not a simple thing to do but Webber can use spiders to fight Klaus and not kill the deers, since the spiders can be triggered to fight and stop fighting on command. I think I saw that in a Lardee stream, there probably are videos of it. He is the main source I’d recommend to learn how to play Webber in an advanced manner. Spoiler EDIT - I found one good example of this:  Maxwell can also summon the duelists exactly next to Klaus and they will attack him only. If one of the shadow puppets attacks a deer, you can despawn them in one hit. Wurt is the only one out of luck, she will have to ditch her followers for that fight, or take them to assist with a tiny part of the first phase, before burning to death and having to complete the fight alone. I was fighting Klaus on a Beefalo and pulled away before he lashed out and all of a sudden the No-Eyed Deer with the red gem made a sound and animation as if it got hit. I was also surprised but couldn't find any other explanation. There was absolutely nothing else there. Thanks for investigating! Either it was a super rare occurrance or I completely omitted something, although I have absolutely no idea what that could have been. Spooky. I don't think it was, considering the distance, but I guess it must have been. Keen deduction skills! cropo
Klaus is one of my favorite new bosses in DST. Most other bosses have some part of their kit I don't like, BQ swaming you with allies, Fuelweaver healing, Toadstool becoming near invulnerable if you don't use a weather pain or glass axe and pan flute(there are a few other creative methods).  Klaus is a bonafide and kitable boss with easily identifiable attack patterns that still take a bit of getting used to to dodge.  His rewards are awesome to, A nice gacha that lets you possibly skip other bosses early or double-up on their loot.  I don't think Followers need to be viable against him. I know this phrase is overused, but he has a sort of ''souls-like'' fairness to him that later bosses don't have and the deers feel more like an enforcement of that style, trying to fight him ''without honor'' leads to punishment. Mysterious box
Rather than making them smart enough to avoid attacking the deer I feel like a generic version of Webber's webby whistle should exist for all followers I accept that the reason something like it doesn't exist is specifically to keep Webber more unique but with that being the only reason it makes me question the addition of the beefalo bell vs Woby. I've always been annoyed when losing grumble bees due to them aggroing on things I don't want them to or having to run a long distance away from my current location when merms are doing something I don't want them to.
