Who do you main and why?

Just curious. I love playing Walter mostly for the character himself and less about the gameplay. Don't get me wrong, I love riding on Woby and annoying my fellow campers at night, but I just find him neat. He's a cute character with a cute dog So, who do you main and why?

Either Wurt or Webber, because if there's something Binding of Isaac taught me - is that I have a weakspot for characters with more tragic past and usually I want best for them in my playthroughs.

I don't have a main, I change them whenever I see fit. But I suppose Warly deserves a mention for being the character i play on the server with my friends.

Something always confuses me. Does maining a character mean that you play them almost exclusively or that you just play them most of the time? If the second one is the case, I guess I'm a Wanda or a Wolfgang main in DST, just for the sake of convenience (plus I love Wolfgang's quotes and Wanda's concept as a whole), and a Wilson main in vanilla DS, just because Wilson is a cool dude.

If the first one is the case, then I don't main any characters, as I find all of them (almost) equally fun to play as. I always try to keep my character roster as wide as possible, and although I haven't beaten the game with all of the characters yet, I did play every character, except for Webber, Walter and Wortox, for a considerable amount of time. Apart from these three, I played with all of the characters long enough to feel confident with their mechanics.

I love playing Wormwood, because I love nature and bees, 
his innocence and loneliness makes me want to take care of him every day...
Through the battles, I also love the fact that I can use another weapon that not many use, 
which is the bat bat that steals life, I love that sound of generating life for each hit I hit xd

Wanda for convenience and the ability to just 1 shot everything. Wicker for base building. I like wicker since they have a whole bundle of perks. She can harvest obscene amounts of wood with Bearger, makes a tentacle farm using Bunnymen and on tentacles, make a whole lot of pierogi using birds of the world and sleepytime stories (plus krampus) and most importantly has no real downside.

I got no main, every time I die I move on to the next characters so I would never get bored with anyone's character and it would give me the opportunity to appreciate every character.

Even split between Wormwood and Wickerbottom cuz I like farming and magicy stuff . Also because Wormwood has the best downside in the game. From early access to Wormwood release I pretty much only played Wickerbottom. 

a tier below those two in terms of playtime are Wurt and Woodie. Wurt because she’s a merm and likes to farm and Woodie because he’s a shaman and approaching boss fights as moose is a really fun challenge.

Walter and Wurt.

Walter is just the king of joining random public servers and not having to worry about getting rare boss loot (eyebrella), walking cane or tam. You can let the noobs have the nice stuff and just use Woby + his inate sanity protection and tent roll.

Wurt is who I use for my private worlds, love minion characters probably due to me growing up playing strategy games like Command and Conquer. Gotta love grinding up an army and steamrolling bosses! Her seasonal protection is unrivaled using sunfish/ice bream + her immunity to rain.

Both fantastic characters who have vastly different playstyles between them which helps keep the game fresh.

Wanda, Wickerbottom, Woodie, in no particular order other than my mood for the day.

• Wanda because she's IMO the best designed character, both thematically and gameplay wise.
• Wickerbottom because I really love magic wielding characters, plus with her extra knowledge its very convenient/cheaper to rush beefalo taming in the first 3-5 days as her, and gain the speed boost and resistance advantages.
• Woodie because of the cheap early access to kelp, stonefruit, celestial portal, and getting a pretty fast idea of where waterlogged biomes are, acting also as a good incentive to rush knobbly trees too.

 

However, Woodie since the moonstorm event is a thing, has become a much "weaker" character for the late game, since by the time you reach that your whole gameplay becomes a nightmare.
But I hope the devs offer alternative solutions the "woodie-moonstorm" thing eventually, other than just being forced to switch out of the character.

I am also hoping that Maxwell rework puts him very high in terms of both power, utility and fun, I really want to start playing with him a lot more. I mained Maxwell for a loooong time before the reworks started.

Just the lore and gameplay but sometimes Willow is just a big mood when you inspect certain items. I like her just randomly staring fires if insane, makes ya stay on your A game a bit more.

Maxwell was my main before the Woodie rework happened, switched to the new Woodie until Wurt came along an blew both them outta the water lol

I enjoy fire and am prone to fire related incidents irl so if that's not fitting I dunno what is. 

Her perks, while nothing grandiose, are amazing and fun to play with. Fire diving and bernie are just way too fun.

i mostly play wormwood since rubbing poop over his face is the best feature in the game, wanda cuz you can build everywhere without worry about distance, wendy for having one of the most complex gameplays, wurt cuz cute and strong despite all bug fixes needed, woodie cuz fun and now maybe wolfgang for being jack of all trades
