what ibwould like and what other people have mentioned before is for the cookbook allowing users to share recipes to players who do not know the recipes yet

Then you would just run into the problem GTA Online once had with money hacks, once people found out how to do them they were randomly adding fake money into everyone’s inventory.. or in DST terms-

Some jerk is going to learn all the food recipes and then hand someone else that book rather they wanted to instantly unlock them all or discover them for themselves, then after ONE persons book is fully filled out, that person will pass that book on to someone else and before you know it- there was no need in ever having a cookbook at all because everyone now has a fully completed cooking index thanks to this chain reaction suggestion.

I believe that the intentions behind making the book this simple to obtain, is so that players who join worlds with cooking pots already set up by other players- are less likely to create wet goop in the crockpots.

Do you like it?

No. The only thing the new recipe made better is extended needed time to speedrun it.

a.k.a. reason 169 why you shouldn't play on pubs.

why are you calling helpful people jerks?

a persons who’s cook book was externally filled would still need to create cook books themselves because they personally don’t know the recipes

I doubt anyone is patient enough to brute force recipes, they’ll get a million wet goops before they figure out that a milk hat is a thing, and it needs a nose. even if you’re aware ceviche exists, good luck guessing around how the game substitutes citrus.

and the current iteration of the cookbook doesn’t prevent wet goop, it only tells you what you already know, which from a new player perspective is zero.

I actually went through the trouble of doing all the recipes since there wasn't any masterpost at the time for them and it took a lot of trial and error :,(

But if anyone needs to finish their cookbook here are the links to the normal recipes and Warly exclusives

Personally I would have it be 1 log 1 charcoal 1 food item. Modern paper is made from wood pulp after all.

You get my vote +1.

Can someone tell me what the recipe for it is right now?

Cause i don't feel like moving to a Beta branch.

I-it's, a cooked r-red cap, toasted seed, a-and a c-cooked m-morsel?

Klei listens to half the complaints as usual. Now the toasted seeds in the crafting recipe is replaced by a cooked carrot. It still makes no earthly sense to me and begs for some reeds or charcoal in the recipe.

Maybe it not making sense is the INTENTION? I mean your playing a game that has a label on the starting screen menu that says the game is full of science, magic & forbidden knowledge.

Not everything about the game has to make sense. Just look at the ingredients for all the Wintersfeast food dishes.

Eeh, even those weird winterfeast dishes make sense on their own to me. They are made combining the magical "holiday cheer", the essence of animated ginger cookie creatures with a loosely related item, and cooked in a magical oven.

By standards set by the majority -I'd say 95%- of the crafting recipes in the game, the new cookbook recipe is completely illogical. I'm willing to nominate it as the most nonesensical crafting recipe in the game- requiring no science, no magic yet being conjured into being with a cooked carrot, a cooked red cap and a cooked morsel.

It feels like playing with a randomizer mod installed where all logic including the internal logic of the constant is thrown out of window, where science machine is crafted with 3 butterfly wings + 2 mosquito sacks, bug net is made by combining a moonrock with nitre, and Lazy deserter is made from 2 Cave bananas, 3 Twigs and 1 Phlegm

I hate to be that person, but I'm a little surprised this change is getting so much attention and criticism, and that this is the hill people are willing to die on.  I agree in principal with many of the things that are being said here but there are SOOOOO many more substantive things about the game I would prefer Klei spend their time on, not reverting the recipe or making further tweaks on an item that you make one time, is insignificant to the game, and has virtually no meaningful impact to most of the individuals who frequent this forum who have played this game for hundreds if not thousands of hours.

In my opinion, the adage "Pick your battles" applies here.

Being one of the few items we know the devs are looking at, as evidenced by them changing the recipe in beta, this is one of the few things we know the developers want to improve, that has their attention, there may never be a better time to discuss this item
