I'm still in the camp that Maxwell's already very powerful and he doesn't need another character's entire skill set on top of that. It feels like if Wolfgang suddenly got access to Abigail.

I used to like that he got to read Wickerbottom's books because it was lore, but with how stupid strong all of his stuff is now it just feels like an insult to Wickerbottom.

No, they don't have a gender either. I have seen people in the fandom call them Lambert though

Unless something new came up I haven't heard about

Does anyone know how Woodies Skill to not Starve works? I always exit my wereforms not starving but still with low hunger even if prior to going into a form I was at Max hunger, the perk doesn’t explain how Much starving it prevents.. so I’m assuming that exiting the form and still being near starvation is either intentional, or it’s a bug.

Anyone know for sure?

The were meter replaces your hunger meter so if you go into form full hunger it will be zero because the form meter went to 0 (that's why you are starving if you don't have the perk) the perk only gives you a little food after changing back so you don't instantly start draining health

It's intentional, with the perk it sets hunger to 23 after transforming back.

Have Mushroom planters always been craftable? I’ve always assumed that they were tied to having to defeat Toadstool (since most other mush related crafts are)

Yes, you heard me right.. I’m just now discovering Mushroom Planters. I think that May had been a Key difference between my gameplay vs everybody else’s.

Now that I know I don’t have to go find the Mushrooms in their naturally growing biomes to add to my crockpot dishes & can instead just grow them right in base that’s gonna be pretty game changing for me.

Yes, yes, they have, I guess it's a question that does not deserve a thread, but

they came out on October 13, 2016. almost 8 years old. Toadstool came out September 23, 2016, not even the same update.

seriously, do you not look at your crafting tab? or do you use the same side bar pins since the game released? If I had a nickel every time Mike did not know a crafting recipes correct ingredient this month, (woodies board skill point, she thought it did nothing) I would have 2 nickels, which isn't a lot but weird it happened twice.

I'm sure there's a lot of things that you don't know about, as your almost willing ignorant of them. we all don't know everything, but it's as simple typing in "mushroom planter" on the wiki, or just paying attention to the crafting menu, not sure how long you have been playing but with the amount of reply's and some of your reply's suggest you have played this game for a while, so its weird you don't know basic knowledge about gardening.

Spoiler

PS: for example, scaled flooring does NOT prevent wildfires are you said (from the wildfire thread) just a small wiki check to fact check, forgot to correct you in that thread

Anyway, here's my question, in the year of the Carrat, you can buy a Carrat, so there's 2 different Carrat recipes now, if wormwood makes Year of the Carrat Carrat's, would it be "tamed" like Wormwoods special craft?

Spoiler

Sorry if I'm a bit rude I'm half asleep.

Actually no, I’ve just never bothered to craft a Mushroom planter. And I’ve been playing since the game first launched (both games BtW) DS & DST.

Ive also 100% the achievement list in both games, and all without knowing I could craft mushroom planters, I have always always ALWAYS gone back to the Source Location of Mushrooms to gather them for my crockpot ingredients, this means:

I have to go to the biomes, and be there at the times of day these shrooms show up.

It is hilariously Wormwoods new Skill Tree that has FOUR Skill Talents dedicated Exclusively to Mushroom Planters that I even bothered to craft them.

Which meant: Creating Perogi was a task from hell because I had to leave base and go gather the Mushrooms to bring back.

It almost feels like “Cheating” now to always have access to all 4 Different Mushroom Types and all from the safety of never needing to leave my base & do anything.

If you read Klei’s 2023 Roadmap, and what their intended goal for it was, they wanted to provide a better late game for experienced players, while providing early game players clearer goals so it’s easier to discover what all there is to do in the game.

Obviously it’s working, because Wormwoods skill tree has helped me learn I can plant mushrooms and never leave base to go gather them from their specific spawning areas ever again.

That said- I enjoy a challenge, so if I become TOO BORED with easy access to Mushrooms, I’ll ban myself from crafting the Noob Planters so I’ll have to return to gathering them from their spawn locations.

If it’s any consolation prize: Before I learned how to craft a Bird Cage or Razor I thought I needed to steal my eggs from Penguins or Tallbirds, and to KILL the Beefalo to obtain their Wool.

Once you learn you can craft a cage, put a bird in it & feed it monster meat for infinity eggs a lot of the game becomes trivial.

Killing Beefalo instead of just shaving them passively in the Middle of the night also felt like I was playing a “Survival” game, so you can’t blame me for relying on a Survival Mindset, in a game that once you learn you can passively obtain a lot of the things you went out of your way to travel and get the “Survival” aspect gets significantly lessened.

Also: with THAT said I’ll sometimes Ban Myself from crafting Bird Cages or using razors on Beefalo.

Why? Because I want to feel like I’m actually fighting for my survival, and hijacking eggs and running for my life after stealing them from the angry momma that wants it back, feels like Survival.

mushroom planters betray the survival aspects of the game :c

thats cool and all but mushroom planters will literally rot in winter and require constant upkeep of living logs, it provides its own challenge (and is arguably less effective) compared to the chore of getting the mushrooms from their respective biomes

I’ve been through winter twice now in my world and I’ve never witnessed my mushroom planters rot, I’ve only witnessed the Mushrooms planted inside of them Rot.

yea, the mushrooms turn to rot and the planter is unusable until spring

But you said they require a constant upkeep of living logs, was this a simple mistake on your behalf? I play the game with different things toggled in settings so I was wondering if it maybe had something to do with which mode you play in.

I always play Endless so my friends can join, and even if they die they can just respawn back at the florid,  so I was generally curious if Mushroom planters needed living log upkeep only in survival mode or something.

Either way, Wormwoods Maxed out Mushroom Planter skills are Awesome, he can yield crazy fast, and higher amounts of Mushrooms (not to mention the mushroom filled logs would probably look nice as base decoration in my Wurt world.)

The only Downside is I’ll have to switch using the celestial portal to Wormwood every so often to plant (& over flow with his skill tree perks) the moonshrooms.
