You can always make a poll for Hamlet, then, if you'd like to see who's interested in them, too!

Like Imagionary said, I only made this poll for shipwrecked characters ^v^

I'm really curious about these guys since they're a big favorite of mine!

I say Walani for shipwrecked, and the 2 hamlet characters I want would be Wilba and Wheeler

They seem like the most optimal ones, although they may not have the best play styles

Wilba needs to meet Webber tho

also Wheeler just wants to fix her balloon and go on more adventures

Walani seems like she would be Warly’s friend seeing as their the first shipwrecked characters to be unlocked by XP

as interesting as woodlegs and wilbur are , they're honestly just too thematic to fit into normal don't starve . that's probably why they did warly first because he's the most normal person ish of the four , walani is the runner up

I’m gonna be honest, I don’t think any of the other SW characters should come in. In the least though, if they were to come in, they’d all need to be changed up a bit because outside of their element they’re all screechingly not interesting to play as, Walani suffering because she’s not interesting to play as even IN her element (Which is a shame, I like her design, voice, and personality, just not her.) and Woodlegs is so outlandishly broken with day 1 full thulecite gear (potentially) and constantly flooding with enough nightmare fuel that he could justify the friggin night light and the whole infinite explosive cannon on day 1 is all so undeniably game upsetting for no downsides whatsoever that he would also need extreme changes. As for Wilbur, well.... he’s just generally boring, as I always found speed based characters from mods to also be incredibly basic and boring (Wheeler at least spruces up the concept with a unique twist on it, and other supporting gimmicks other than “Poops ha ha funny monkey”)

Warly in the base game generally feels like a punishment, due to his somewhat obscure stats, but I feel he has the most interesting concept in/out of SW, and the fact that his ginmick can directly translate into a team based or solo nomad/raider setting and be a highly valued asset amongst the other current survivors, I think he was the best bet and really is the only one that just with minor tweaking could, in my opinion, undeniably shine brighter than the other SW cast, even if they got tweaked drastically. Similarly I just think Wormwood is the best Hamlet representative because his playstyle is incredibly different from what we’re used to playing (So many threads about “food is overpowered you never need healing items what the heck” can be nullified by playing as him) which, thus, makes him the most interesting above other Hamlet characters. However, I can see a lot of new players suffering greatly when they pick him, so we'll need to see where he winds up.

I can see where you stand, I totally agree that their characters aren't exactly the most exciting out of everyone, but personally I feel as though a good rework is all they need to be awesome! Since water is becoming a part of gameplay mechanics I feel as though the shipwrecked crew, especially Walani and Woodlegs, could really be fleshed out.

Maybe Walani could still come with her surfboard as it would be the best mode of transportation in game regarding water (as the boat is a little slow). She could craft boards for team mates and everyone could surf to the moon islands. Maybe she could have her own crafting bar that contains instructions for a faster multiplayer compatible raft? Reading her quotes highly implies she could have been a pirate before becoming a surfer. Reading further implies she's worked with gunpowder before. Maybe she could have a tab allowing her to set up canons on the boat for combat against sea creatures? The canon could have a radius of damage from a canon ball and could be planted similar to Winona's catapults.

I feel like Woodlegs could definitely have a crafting bar dedicated to ships and weapons. Having him in game could even help implement a treasure finding mechanic! Having a multiplayer boat like his big metal one in SW would be really cool, especially if there were multiple canons on the ship so for multiple players to arm and fight monsters. (Maybe Walani could have a slower reloading time than most characters since she's worked with gunpowder before?)

I'm not too sure about Wilbur, but I really think it'd be cool to rub through caves with a swarm of sploomunkeys!

I don't feel as though I've explained everything well enough, but all in all I really feel as though the whole crew of SW has a lot of potential for DST! :wilson_love:

I am not a fan of character adding another SW characters but if there will be I will say walani, I like her personality and design, they could give her more perks to make her more interesting, I don't think Wilbur will fit his speed boost is exclusive for himself but he may work in early day as  resource collector, woodlegs pirate theme doesn't fit in DST tbh and his hat will break the game but armored boat with cannon seems interesting.

Those cannons are called catapults and are built by Winona.

I feel like canons would have a greater damage multiplier though and would have a greater hit range.

You want to see Woodlegs becoming Winona 2.0? That would make Winona useless again!

I'm not saying that at all; I just feel like on the waters Woodlegs would have a stronger advantage than Winona, and Winona would have a stronger advantage on land than on the water compared to Woodlegs. Besides, Woodlegs wouldn't be able to create generators or catapults or any of that, he'd have his own gameplay of boat canons and treasure hunting if anything. If a boat made by Woodlegs ever needed mending, Winona would make the best person to help as she has her trusty tape with her. If anything I think Woodlegs and Winona would make a great team!

Walani's boring.

Woodlegs is broken.

Wilbur is also pretty boring actually.

Warly could have a really good rework, and he could already be pretty useful for long-term trips with his pot. He's the best fit. Other than that, I enjoy Woodlegs the most out of all those options.

I believe Walani makes the most sense from the 3 and should be easy enough to fix/re-work (I think).

She is already worse than Wilson, and unless you want to speedrun the moon, she doesn’t have a purpose either. Needing the most changes, she’d be hardest to rework.

I still think she is easier to fix, or at the very least 2nd easiest.

She is mostly a blank slate, so you can add stuff without much issue as long as it makes sense with her theme, so anything that has to do with water/surfing or her being lazy would do, like a claw that let's you pick things that are far away/unreachable, specially now that there are things in the water and they can be tricky to get while on a boat (maybe even make this claw able to get birchnuts from birchnut trees without having to chop them down, like an avocado-claw); make her immune to the overall effects of wetness and wet items; she could be "better" at fishing (or even has a sort-of-automatic fishing rod); or even make her able to swim direcly in the water for a while before drowning. Her surfboard would also be incredibly useful for traveling the surface of the Constant now that there is "navigatable" water between landmasses, being a weaker Wortox's teleport and much cheaper lazy explorer; the only reason it is not so good in SW is because there is just too much water. The difficult part is what to add.

Woodlegs on the other hand needs some re-works, and which re-works to make and how is never easy. The Sea Legs is a one-man boat, and that might need a change to make it more multi-player-friendly (specially since the first, and currently only boat in DST is a multi-man boat). The lucky hat has to be toned down, or replaced by the regular pirate hat of SW. His insanity while on land is a nice touch I believe. How much to improve or decrease a thing that has been already implemented is usually harder than just add things to them (see Willow for example...). Of course, he might also need more things to differentiate more from other characters.

Wilbur... I don't know what to do with him. He is in the same boat (ha!) as Walani, but since he is just a monkey is hard to imagine what more he could get. Maybe he could throw more stuff other than manure and do damage or other effects depending on the item? Maybe his crown could be an equippable that only he can use and it gives him lots of sanity plus some protection. Or he could climb trees to avoid damage? He seems complete, but is lackluster in many ways, he lacks the potential Walani has.

@WolfYlch could you add "none" as another option? Personally I think Warly was the most DST compatible of them all in his general design, so adding him was the wisest, and only option among the shipwrecked roster.

I mean, I could do that sure.

The only reason I didn't add it before hand was to see who was interested in the characters with a rework. (I honestly think all the characters would be great with a rework, especially since water's been added in!) But yeah, I could add it in as an option so every opinion is heard. :wilson_vforvictory:
