A nice use for chlorine?

As if there were a need for more phosphorite.  Seriously, I have tons and tons of the stuff, and no use for it.  Making fertilizer uses some, but very little.

Pincha peppers also use it, but I agree there's tons on the map and it's unlikely you would run out

I was just answering the OP's question, I didn't say it was useful

Also a food item for some of the Shine Bug types, if you Ranch those.  Which is very space wasteful and questionably food profitable, but it's a valid use.

I use chlorine to fill my slime storage room (at least 3kg per tile so the slime doesn't produce polluted oxygen)=> all slimelung germs exterminated within one cycle even in the storage compactors.

Edit: Whoops missed the "killing germs?" part in OP's question. I think my answer is therefore useless.

The best use I've found for shine bugs is well. to shine.. you can set up shine bug farms with solar panels to produce yourself a boatload of power, at the cost of frying your PC with the massive load of having 50 bugs stuffed near eachother.

In RU it does not work anymore. In the "glum" state shinebugs can't shine.

This is already the case in EU, so just make sure they're not glum. the 'room' doesn't have to be a ranch..

here you see 2 applications of bug power. between the two solar panels is a lure, which keeps them near it so the panels have light there's about 30-50 shine bugs in each blurb of light  A feeder, an incubator, critter dropoff and a grooming station are there for all their needs. And on the left, the water lock keeps them inside the 'room' while the 'room' is open to the rest of the asteroid, thus avoiding overcrowding.

It's not, glum bugs emit light in EU. How would you make use of 100+ bugs otherwise ? There's no way your ranchers would groom that many every cycle.

Although I'm not sure the glum debuff actually stops the bug from emitting light in RU, I just took that screenshot on the preview branch and it seems unchanged.

I can confirm that in the rocketry update, the 'glum' debuff makes shine bugs stop shining.  The longer they are glum, the less they shine.

Are you sure it's not the overcrowded debuff ? I let 5 cycles pass and the bug in my screenshot is still at 1800 Lux.

Edit : yes it is the overcrowded debuff, lux per bug diminishes down to 0 if that happens.

I think the confusion comes from the overcrowded debuff triggerring the glum debuff too. But a tame bug can be glum by lack of a rancher's attention, without overcrowding. In which case they still emit light and the current bugs/solar panels trick still works.

IIRC the bugs have a bug(pun intended) that counted the surrounding room instead of some radius around the bugs. So if you make the room big enough it will be a "No Room" And they will never be Glum.

There's no bug, all animals take their debuff based on room/pool size. It would be madness if they didn't honestly.

how to you make phospherite from chlorine? They one way i know how to make phospherite is dreko poop.

You don't.  You feed the Woolly Dreckos with Balm Lilies, which only grow in Chlorine.

The only ways to consume Chlorine are with Ore Scrubbers (which are kind of worthless, honestly...) or with Squeaky Pufts to convert them into Bleach Stone for use in Hand Sanitizers.
