Muzarello Posted May 6, 2021 Share Posted May 6, 2021 I really need to think about this update, I love the celestial champion but the storm and the collecting is so bad... I think it's just too much collecting even tho all the way to fight this boss and retrieving the other pieces was really a grind already. In the end I don't really feel rewarded, I'm happy for the content but the crown doesnt feel that nice after all the pain. I really gotta think about this, I don't like it right now, maybe I'll change my mind later. At least I got the birbs. Look at the bone helm and feel my pain. Also, I HATE the third phase, but that's cuz I'm kinda bad, it's really a frenetic battle, really nice change from the stand and delivery and 3 hits run back, the lasers really punish you if you don't watch how it moves. I get it, the boss is fun, but the collecting phase is so god awful, and none of your collecting carries over if you dont collect more than whats required for 1 summon of the boss. It doesn't help that you can't/couldn't (if they fixed it) attack the birds with f, although that might be a mod I have installed. Still, doing this solo was one of the least fun times I've had in this game. The crown is nice, but I don't think I'll be re doing the event for crown shards, I'll just stick to my infinite mushlights mod. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

I'm hoping it's because everyone wanted to get it done while it was still in beta, and hype made everyone rush to get it done. I hope it'll feel a lot less grindy when we go at our own pace. Terra B Welch Posted May 9, 2021 Share Posted May 9, 2021 Nice to know I haven't rusted too much during the past several months of DST burnout. Was still fairly competent with soloing dragonfly and was able to get pretty much all I needed to do before my first winter in this world. I've a small pig farm not far from here too for anyone wondering. Winter will likely have me focusing on getting the drying racks set up as well as setting up my spider farms for monster meat as well as some spring prep. I'll also get to see if my ability to kite deerclops has rusted or not, considering my dragonfly kiting didnt rust too much, I'm sure it'll be the same for deerclops. Terra B Welch Posted May 10, 2021 Share Posted May 10, 2021 Starting off year 2 with killing Bee Queen. Bundling wrap requirement out of the way. I plan to wait for bearger, farm as much wood as I can with her then try to make a boat and go to the moon island to form the altar, then look for pearl's island and crab king, as well as pick up some salt along the way. I plan to get a bundle of cactus flowers next summer, as well as head into the ruins to get what I need to re-power the archives(decon staff, star caller staff, maybe some thule crowns in prep for celestial guardian) After moon island though I need to work towards getting the celestial portal set up. Muzarello Posted May 10, 2021 Share Posted May 10, 2021 After a while I still don't really like the collecting part of the storm, but it gets so much smoother with a beefalo, I tried every character to see how they would performand almost all feel the same, Walter's shot speed does less than going in with a cane and most characters with damage modifier don't really matter cuz of the Bird's low health, using a bramble husk is kinda good if you are clumsy like me but riding a beefalo really helped me a lot. In the end I would enjoy more if we just had to do the event twice, one for the experiment blueprint and other for one phase of the experiment, I really love the storm and the Champion but I think all the grind to this point is already enough for this ending, but I won't mind if it keeps the way it is, you can always keep farming in the storm if you don't like repeating it, Crab King and Toadstool are others that take too much for the fight and still I love those bosses. I ended up using gunpowder to skip a large portion of phase 2. Those are really the only notable screenshots I took, a damn shame too, pretty much all of my 2018 DST time is lost to history, outside of hazy memories of bases long abandoned. Here's a weird bug, my enlightenment didnt go away until I re-entered the oasis desert. Anywho, soon, once enough rain pours, it'll be time for the final battle with the Celestial Champion! I know people can do this waaaaaaaaaaaaay faster, but I'm just happy I managed to do it in only a couple hundred days as opposed to several hundred. I just wanted to see if I could actually have some kind of speed for once. This playthrough was really fun in the end, and I like the new crown! Glommer buddy, do you like my new crown?
