Lumina
But the point is that the game doesn't force you to have the item. You choose to. If the process is too tedious maybe you should relax, wait a little (some problems at the beggining were fixed after), and if really you find it tedious and awful, not doing it. I'm not saying it's easy or something great to choose to not have a nice item, but i don't think that blaming klei because you didn't liked the puzzle is fair. I mean, some people enjoyed it, so the awfulness of it is dependant of a lot of factors. If you want the items at the point that you feel forced to do all the process, any process that isn't fine for you is... Not fine for you. But if for you a discovery of a painting and a cooperative puzzle isn't fine, maybe for someone else paying with real money isn't fine either. And maybe someone will dislike any puzzle even one like cyclum, and find it tedious. Or any process that isn't "i have the item without efforts". Sure, Klei should avoid making things too tedious, and the "partner" thing is very special, some will like it a lot, some dislike it a lot. The main problem is that you need someone else and it's hard to be dependant of someone else. Or finding someone patient enough to do this with you. But i did the cyclum puzzle and all i did was following a solution and clicking when asked, typing when asked. I must admit i wouldn't be able to complete the puzzle alone (i don't think it's the purpose), but i feel like the main point of the cyclum post was to share discoveries with the community. So since i wasn't here at the moment i missed all the fun. Here, i'm still at part 2 (because i didn't try again after the first failures, now that i know the number of tries is limited it will be better i think). But even if i follow a solution about how to solve the puzzle, i will have to do some steps myself. Sure, i'll follow a guide about how to do it, but i will do it. I will see that here, i have a right match at position 5, then 1, then 3, instead of having to click on flowers in the right order. So i feel that, even if i didn't help for more step, i'm more involved than in the cyclum part, because something is personal. And for me it make the puzzle better than the previous one, even if i'm not a fan of the "2 players" part. So maybe puzzle couldn't be always the same so differents players could enjoy differents things. You don't have to play or solve any kind of puzzle, if it annoys you so much that you have to attack anyone with a different opinion. Cyberboy2000
Really, the puzzle is a blast when doing it with a friend you actually know. I'm guessing the designers didn't expect so many to desperately beg for people to do it with on forums, because I can understand that it would be a frustrating experience to coordinate with a stranger only communicating with text and images. I think that's not how it was intended to be done. I feel terribly for anyone who didn't/doesn't have a mic for the puzzle. It took me and a "random stranger" over two hours to complete the second half of the puzzle, but I honestly can't recall a moment where I wasn't enjoying myself at least a bit. "Can't" is not quite the same as "refusing", you're in your own bum on this one good sir. Just now, Ressayez said: I feel terribly for anyone who didn't/doesn't have a mic for the puzzle. Lol true, me and my partner just used text chat for it, thankfully my partner was competent and patient. Made it easy to focus entirely on the puzzle. Comms and/or screensharing probably make the experience a lot more enjoyable than it was. . . .
Is there a link to this this "teaser" for us people that couldn't even pass the first stage of the puzzle or we don't even deserve that much ? Certainly! just remember that it is a bit of a spoiler even if we don't know much about it yet. Passing the first part of the puzzle only requires a partner, you can do it. Tylordian
I don't care what I had to go through, but the puzzle was fun, and I had a huge sense of satisfaction when I finished. The cyclum puzzles was a thing that you could just go to the forums and see the answer, but in this puzzle you had to think, just you and your friend. I loved the cyclum puzzles. watermelen671
Am I the only one who didn't find it satisfying? Like when me and my buddy, Donald Trump (@Escaped), both of our reactions were: "Wait. That was it?" Aside from Morgan Freeman himself noticing me (or maybe Klei-senpai finally noticed me ), which was amusing, the reward didn't feel satisfying enough to make the struggle worth it. I can't be the only one though, right? ...that and the cane skin clashes with all of my skins. And I can't have that. Simply impossibru. CaptainChaotica
For me, the two-player part wasn't as frustrating as the fact that THE (CENSORED)ING THING KEPT _REFRESHING_!! Seriously, there's now a bunch of different little symbol-pictures on my Photobucket (my old account still works so I still use it shut up) I'll have to clear out now (for general de-cluttering reasons), and I think the last one before it FINALLY worked, was called "metheuspuzzle2-j". And I didn't start putting a letter after the name instead of just saving over the previous the "metheuspuzzle2" picture with a new version of itself until after a _while_. I was also doing this without a microphone and with a random stranger--but fortunately said random stranger turned out to be really nice, and is now one of my Steam friends. You wonder why I go around being all naive, leaving my server open to the public? THIS is why! Practically everyone I've met and friended through Don't Starve is like that. (the "and friended" part is important, though. : P) And the lore stuff is FASCINATING. I absolutely adore all of that, and, yes, the fact that you have to puzzle it together, like an archaeologist. Makes it feel more "real" somehow, as a puzzle. I myself didn't do any of that decoding, but MAN am I glad it's there...and the artwork on the obelisk itself is _awesome_. (I now also kind of want to design a Steven Universe OC named "Thulecite" who will be a fusion (with the orange, yellow and/or green gems) so she can have four arms and look more insecty, and she'll be carrying that fancy staff from the murals, and...whatiswrongwithme. : P But seriously, so many fan-character names end in "ite". It kinda has to be done... Also Giddy Guy started it with the "We need the irridescent gem for our giant woman!) ...Notorious Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/77638-why-was-metheus-so-awesome/page/2/#findComment-907552 Share on other sites

Pyr0mrcow
I wanted to rip myself in half at a few points during part two, but yea. Figuring out the methodology and conquering it felt pretty great. CaptainChaotica
Except for the bloody resetting. Did anyone else here reach a point where they stopped being enthusiastic whenever they saw something light up? At first it was "YES!" but after several resets, new picture, process it, upload it, send it, start overs I started being like "yay...something that probably doesn't represent _real_ progress 'cos it'll be taken away...woo..." When we got four lights (THERE ARE FOUR LIGHTS! sorry) I was pessimistically crossing my fingers that we'd be _allowed_ to finish this time. (Well, obviously not REALLY crossing my fingers, as it'd be hard to type that way.) See, the thing kept resetting because of clicks made on the _other_ person's side, which made it keep HEY! disappearing "for no reason" on my end, and starting to make me feel it was _timed_! So it was like, "Well, let's hope we can actually get it done within whatever arbitrary time limit we have. It'll probably shut down just as we have three lights or so. Again." When we got to 5 I was halfway between hopeful and TERRIFIED. We had never _lost_ THAT much at a time! was my top thought, _followed by_ "Oh goodie we're about to win!" It was like the bad old days of my earliest time on the Internet, when I just had a stupid WebTV (which had NO HARD DRIVE, so you _couldn't save things_) and our phone line didn't have a splitter, so it was like, "CAN she finish typing _and_ manage to hit 'Send' on this e-mail before the phone just _happens_ to ring? PLACE YA BETS!" (shudders, rocks back and forth) Never again...never again... Yes, I know the game itself (singleplayer especially) is a semi-roguelike, but having to do the same thing over and over on something shorter and _linear_ with a set end feels worse. Mainly, because it's much less time before you do exactly the same stuff again...(Do I want to kick Adventure Mode in its non-existent teeth? YES I do!) Of course I know none of this was MANDATORY. But when fun "I'm doing a puzzle and figuring things out, yay!" starts becoming a _chore_... I liked all the rest of it. The atmosphere, the look, the lore. But frustration? Let's take that aspect out for next time. (And I sincerely do hope there WILL be a next time! In the future.) ...Notorious Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/77638-why-was-metheus-so-awesome/page/2/#findComment-907799 Share on other sites
Escaped
I guess we didn't really go about the 2nd puzzle the right way. It needed a strategy, like a game of mastermind, to be done quickly. A strong strategy actually gets it done it done in a few tries, but then again I didn't make it I just found a mastermind strategy on youtube. Lumina
Also, the confusing part is, for me, not knowing if it was a limited amount of time, limited amount of try, or random problem. So it seems to be a limited amount of try and with a proper method and a "not pressing everytime to see if there is progress" behaviour all should be easier.
