Antlion is related to Shipwrecked?

Recommended Posts

The Antlion is shown to have a weird love for the Beach Toy trinkets in particular, which to me, seem like they could be due to a relation to Shipwrecked. They're not even harder to get than normal trinkets, they just... exist.

As well as this, the Beefalo Trader frequently mentions a Nox, whereas an Ox is an animal in SW. However, the Ox name was removed, so it's... Not an ox, just like Beefalo Trader says. A nox.

Lastly, we got some skins like the Yacht Suit, all of which seemed to be almost like Formal skins for SW characters - It seems a little coincidental all this Beach & Ship Themed stuff happens close together.

CONSPIRACY!?!? impossible *winks*

Yeah, that was my first thought as well: The desert with the oasis and the succulents would have made a nice biome for a Shipwrecked island. Also Sand is an actual item and resource there. Imagine, the DST oasis had SW's Palm Trees instead of Birchnut Trees ;)

Sounds like a great mod idea ;)

Ohmygod!  It so needs that.  That, would look totally awesome--and more appropriate.  I mean, when you think of the classic oasis-in-the-desert scene, you see swaying _palms_ in your mind, right...?

(And now I'm remembering the time I was playing singleplayer Adventure Mode with RoG and Shipwrecked enabled, and at one point I ran into a full palm-tree-and-bamboo biome populated by a whole village of wildbores...with snow on it.  Bless the weirdness of this game...)

I have replayed adventure mode not so long time ago and I was honestly surprised seeing snow covered palms in The game is afoot, then 3x3 wildbore houses in Cold reception. Thought it was some kind of generation mistake, but guess not.

I was snooping around in the files and found quotes for SW items in the speech files in the form of comments.

Coincidence? I think not!

Those have been there for a very long time. And some of the Klei devs even said they have no plans for DST SW right now.

This. Also including some devs comments like "we'd love to" and "it's something we're constantly discussing"

I'd love SW in DST like a lot of people but I wouldn't even consider it a possibility until at least ANR and ONI are both out and finished, which will be a while from now.

And on top of that there's Hot Lava and the ANR port for the PS4 version. Klei just has a lot on their plate right now so I wouldn't expect SW for DST in quite a while.

Oh. I see. I don't tend to check the files so often, and only noticed those recently. Oh well.

Same thoughts.

Still though, it does give a hint for SW in DST, even though I'm not expecting it so soon.

How's this for palm trees?  http://images.akamai.steamusercontent.com/ugc/155775053187817075/0E0AA28DB9EA468C8425952C8DF370A3AA0C6C8B/

Oh that's gorgeous!  I'd have absolutely no idea how to mod them in though. : P  (I mean, I assume there are mods out there that can add Shipwrecked biomes/plants to DST...but putting them in exact specific locations only...?  Probably not.)

And I wish I had taken a picture of the snow on the palm trees in Adventure Mode.  That was so fun.  Or the time I was playing as Walani in a huge RoG (with Shipwrecked compatibility) map and ended up with a big _mixed_ village of normal pigs and wildbores that covered two screens...in the middle of a savannah, for some reason.  But did I?  Noooo...

You Know? It was quite simple! There is a mod called the Multi-lands mod and It adds a bunch of Crazy cool biomes but sadly it would crash the game if you set it to load in. So in order to do something like this you can go in game and dig up the land you want to cover then use the Consle to spawn in the sandy turf, Fill up and Viola! I could Possibly put some links down in here later on. I hope this helped!

Yeah, sounds like the kind of mod that would need to run at world-gen in order to fully work.  I've already got some of those (Pickle It!, Birds and Berries and Trees with Friends, the Spring Festival one, Increase Animals...) so yeah, I can imagine the Multi-Lands one would be similar.

I generally avoid using the console in either version of Don't Starve, but for _purely_ decorative purposes...  :)

(Are those functional palm trees with coconuts you can eat?  Probably not, but I'm curious.  Then again you can eat the birchnuts too, so it's not like putting those in would add an EXTRA food source!)
