Shipwrecked: Together ideas! Bringing a new meaning to Together.

My ideas:

- Watricia, a new character. The Stowaway. 

Perks:

Can lockpick the Captain's Quarters.

Doesn't eat much.

Has a knack for finding things, good or bad. (More lucky Tumbleweed drops, and more eels and stuff in coral reefs.)

- Team based, rather than living alone with other people walking by.

- Ride Ox or Beefalo through shallow water. OR Above puddles! Staying dry has never been so easy!

- Pirate Ships that hold multiple people.

- Ability to hide in the hull of big ships.

I think it could be very good for PVP. Someone out exploring? Why steal their boat when you can hide inside? Become a stowaway! Kill them all! 

Ship security:

- Ships need keys. You drop the key on death, and can make copies in the Chiminea.

- People CAN hide on your ship without the key. Check thoroughly before you depart ;)

- Crow's Nest can only be climbed by Wilbur, or with a ladder (new item)

 

Ship idea/Mockup:

Tharr be a ship mockup!

This ship idea is team/competitive based. It works well in PVP and PvE, and brings a new meaning to "Together"

Think setups like:

Warly cooking on deck for the team, Wilbur on the crow's nest, Woodlegs driving, Wilson in the Captain's Quarters, Watricia in the hull with all the food & Walani scouting ahead with her surfboard.

SW on its own is a rushed game though, and a horrid buggy mess. Putting it in a game with its own issues in its own engine is...not a very good idea, and to actually make it work, there's A LOT needed to make it work.

Instead of pushing a Reeses bar commercial, why not wait until New Reign's Lore is finished so Klei can polish Shipwrecked?

BUT Klei would actually PUT some work and effort into fixing all the bugs and problems and smoothing it.

SW was mostly Capy's job. Klei may simply lack options to try fixing all the bugs. I'm glad for the individual ports (thinking of @Joachim's Multi-Worlds).

A bit tongue-in-cheek to round out the comment...

When Capy left, that's where the depressing notion settles in. That's why I want the game to be polished in time. Besides, Klei has a lot on their plate right now. Let the company grow in time and they'll get back to Shipwrecked. It's a small company and they need the growth to make quality games. A rush job would hurt the quality.

Problem is that its not just bugs. Content that doesn't work in SW, content that SW needs, content that won't work in DST that SW has, etc.

 

SW COULD be a great way to play together, since everybody could have their own island, but finding eachother could also be next to impossible, and there's the obstacle of the starting island; you need a certain amount of things to even leave the first island you spawn on. What if you come in right after somebody who just took all the resources, or somebody just destroyed everything? 

I think if they wanted to they COULD work something out but with both games pretty newly out of beta ( and one going through more ), there's no problem enjoying them both individually. 

I mostly agree on finishing the dst saga first, I will most likely have lots of patience for that cuz wanna see the things that are in story. If really, if they start making sw now, I would blow my face with a bazooka, because I want quality and lots of ideas for "a new reign" first, than having 2 things being made at the same time.

Right now what I could suggest is just working on multiple shards a bit more first, to make deeper caves or the ruins being bigger or something, also need the Ancient Guardian himself to be renewable and dont cost deers eyes, cuz thats just too expensive in multiplayer game (I mean mostly for public servers and such). 

I do hope klei will keep working after the new reign for world gens, or even making special tournaments (or just support some kind ), because this game really could expand to that! Which could also mean that this game could be popular, loved and played for a really long time.

I still can say that Shipwrecked Together most possibly will come in the future (not anytime soon) and really do hope that our adventures never end ^_^

The problem with this is, as far as I'm aware, is that the more shards, the more expense on the machine running the server. So to avoid this, the ruins were added as a part of the caves.

I mean the dedicated servers (like strictly unprofessional) could have more shards, because there is not enough thule and such for lots of people lol.

Another suggestion is that people could travel from one server to other, I mean like: having a steam friend, use an IP of hes server with some device in the game, then travel to the friends world with all your belongings, it's other kind of server jumping, the friend (host could regulate if he allows the person come in or not. The server world that the guy jumped into friend's world would still work untill the host person logs off. It's a complicated idea but it could be cool

Or add some sort of regening to the caves, weather it be some way to re-gain thulecite, or just flat out regening the caves.

Maybe a feature when killing the ancient guardian? That it would reform the ruins or something? It could a feature to having the ruin cave part being regenned but not the rest of the caves, seems difficult, but it could work as 'regenning shard', but the part that has to be regenned is the the parts where is the nightmare cycle at, by removing the nightmare cycle part and creating a whole new gen of ruins. But for it to work properly I think it would need that all players in caves should go upstairs while ruins are reforming. I guess the process would take time by not harming the rest of caves. It's just a thought tho, if this seems too difficult, we could go back to the multiple shard idea
