Don’t Starve: Pocket Edition on Google Play Beta

We’re almost ready to launch on Google Play. But before we do that, we would like to give a bunch of keys out so you can let us know about any last minute bugs we need to work out. If you would like to help us out, check out the info below and sign-up!.

  • Don’t Starve: Pocket Edition beta is on Google Play and requires a Google account.
  • Please be sure to register using the email address associated with your Android device.
  • This is a limited time closed beta - Testers will receive a key to play and will not be required to purchase the game to participate
  • Testers will be able to keep the game at the end of beta.
  • If selected you will be sent an email with details on how to participate. Your Google account will be flagged for access.
  • We have a limited number of beta spots, so please make sure you'll actually be available to test right away.

We're adding a "put your device here" option shortly, please stand by. That said, we're not sure anything older than the devices listed (like say a 2012 Nexus 7) will run the game. Definitely if you have an older device and get into the beta we'd appreciate you trying to break it with megabases and other late game play.

Update - it's fixed now. "My Device Is Not Listed" lets you put your device name into a text box.

I mean, I have a Galaxy Exhibit, which I know won't run it. Good thing I got a Nexus 10 lying around though!

Looks like you clicked the "add another device" button? That does what you'd think it does, add another dropdown so you can select two devices. Could there be bugs? Totally, we have a brand new web guy making those forms and we're totally welcoming him to the company by giving him unreasonably short amounts of time to make these beta signup things. :) 

Anyway, there shouldn't be any state on that page so if you just reload it'll erase everything. And don't worry about double-submitting, I'll be squashing them down as part of compiling the results, so you won't get more or less chance of getting a key.

Don't Starve was on Google Play back in 2012, I still have it in my installed apps (not working tho). Unfortunately I have an indestructible Nokia device and won't be able to beta test :cry:

What will happen to users who have the super old version of google play DS?

This is for Don't Starve Pocket Edition, the Chrome Web Store version of Don't Starve was discontinued due to constraints of the platform. Any person who owned that version of Don't Starve was given steam keys. If you didn't get those, you can contact support at support.kleientertainment.com

Is there an actual time the keys(?) will be emailed, or will it just be done a little at a time until everyone gets one?

Also how long will the beta run for, and will testers be able to keep the app when beta's done?

This Afternoon, Klei Standard Time. Which translates roughly to "it probably won't take us until Thursday", if you know anything about us and time predictions :)
