The Letter W

Recommended Posts

Why do almost every single character have the letter w for the first letter in the name? I know it probably is a coincidence and doesn't tie into the lore or backstory what so ever but i'm still curious. The only person who doesn't have w as the first letter in the name is Maxwell but then again he is the person who brought them all here. Just to re jog some of your memories: Wilson, Willow, Wolfgang, Wendy, WX-78, Wickerbottom, Woodie, Wes, Maxwell, Wigfrid, Webber, Walani, Warly, Wilbur, and Woodlegs. What do you think this is? Just a pure coincidence? The creator's love for the letter w and he fantasizes about it every night? Whatever it may be...idk...Just whatever it may be.

Maxwell's in game files are called Waxwell so that's also a thing.

At first, their names starting with W was just pure coincidence but now it's an official thing they do :D

Even I try to come up with names starting with W when thinking of a new DS character :p

iirc i seem to recall it being a coincidence their first couple characters or so started with a w and they thought it would be a neat theme so they just stuck with it.

This. It was a coincidence.

Also playable Maxwell is "waxwell" because there's already a prefab called "maxwell" (the NPC that greets you at the beginning).

Technically /all/ of the player characters names start with W, if you've read through the 'William Carter Puzzle', you'll realize Maxwell himself, in a round-about-way, still isn't an exception to this rule.

It genuinely makes me wonder if Charlie's full name is actually W. 'Charlie' Lastname.

Interesting...

Although, what possible name with a "W" could result in a female with a nickname "Charlie"? If we were to follow the trend that William was using "Maxwell" as a stage name, then we could assume that Charlie herself being a magician's assistant, could have a totally unrelated name to her nickname... well, that's just cheating then XD

Yup! Charlie could also be her middle name or even last name. After all, William Carter's last name begins with a C! ^-^

Well, my mom usually goes by her middle name in real life, so... Maybe Charlie doesn't like her first name for whatever reason.  (shrug)

As for why they all have W names...I just take it as a coincidence that turned into a rule and helps add to the overall quirky weirdness of the game.  Because fun!

Charie isn't a playable character, that's my guess.

however, if you go by throne characters with an M name... they could get away with Ms. Charlie and it'd still fight the w/m pattern.
