If people weren't allowed to upload random pictures with random text or random pictures with the character faces poorly edited on this thread would be about 840 pages shorter.

Oh yeah because putting text on an image is definitely making it yourself. But putting text beside the image? Absolutely not made yourself, please give credit.

the difference is, using someones art and not give credit, and using a meme like picture or screenshot

So if you don't have a Tumblr account then not only do you have no right to have your work be credited, you are not even an artist at all. The only difference between you guys stealing art from tv shows, stealing art from photo websites, stealing art from movies, stealing art from Tumblr artists, and stealing art from anywhere else is that if anyone's gonna be pressing charges it's not gonna be the Tumblr artists with their nonprofit quick little sketches.

It's mostly for respecting the artist, the difference between taking someone's art and using a meme is that the meme is collectively used for making fun, for example quote of a movie, an event on the news, a scene form a show, though this thread has many examples of very lazy attempts at that.  _Wendy_carter_ is doing isn't that, they just took drawings from other people that most likely doesn't want their art to be uncredited and put a caption on them, whether the artists is from Twitter, Tumblr, Instagram, some other forum, or some person that paints is not important and that's not what Echsrick was most likely refering to but that _Wendy_carter_ isn't crediting the artist at all.

Dude like 95% of the posts here are just other people's art with a caption or other people's art that's been barely edited to poorly have don't starve assets clipping on top of it. Why is a caption about how the tentacle is attacking them bad,

but a caption about how the person in the gif is eating good? One of them is a lot funnier but why should that be what decides whether or not credit should be given?

And this is a literal painting that's been hastily edited to have Wilson's head shoved on top of it. Where is the credit to that artist? The one before this was even worse, just having the word "memes" put on top of his hand. Why are you allowed to lazily steal this art?

Honestly Wendy shouldn't have said anything. They should have just posted their post and left it at that. You guys are just pissed because you saw them say the art wasn't theirs, even though nobody here ever posts art that's theirs.

Because is an image that has collectivelly used in memes by a portion of the internet.

Unlike what Wendy did of taking some random art they saw and posted it here without even knowing about the artist or minding if they were ok with their art being uncredited.

80% of Minespatch memes that they post here are their art.

What kind of memes you would consider "good" anyway?

Be reminded that this thread exists for fun and laughs. Do also understand that there is genuine appreciated respect given to the artists if you are able to credit them whenever you can. That said, as written at the top of this thread:

Keep it clean and friendly and "on-topic".

Otherwise, don't instigate. Just report if it breaks the rules and move a long.
