So... No more updates? Only bug fixes and DLC? Or just a break? Or am I incredibly stupid and ignorant?

The Devs have been pushing out content since the release, always changing the game to add new things. This takes up a lot of time to do, so they don't really get to test it, or fix the bugs they have left from beta.In other words, they will fix what is broken then take a well deserved break from coding and such.Once that break is over, they will see how things turn out. If the community is demanding more, they might do more. If not, they will probably focus on more important things. For all we know, they could just not feel like it even if we DO want more.

Since there won't be any new content its good time to finish things on surface and in cave levels.

Things that would be very awesome:

-tallbirds life cyce

-regrowableplantable marsh trees

-regrowable/plantable mush trees and cave flowers (they will not give light if planted on surface, or will glow only on new moon nights)

-regrowableplantable cave banana tree (longer regrow times if planted on surface)

-renewable mandrakes on surface - new should spawn after every winter

-some kind of clockwork structure that will spawn/produce chess monsters and new ground tile to form better clockwork biome

-regrowable/replantable marble trees - should be a way to plant them but growing time should be very long, and they also could use some reskin to give them more clockwork/evil look

-flowers and evil flowers should die in winter and new should spawn at summer time

-way to plant evil flowers

-respawnable tentacles in swamp biome

-earthquakes on surface that will spawn new rocks to mine

-hail in winter

-frograin in survival maps

-solar eclipse event - all rabbits become beardlings and shadow monsters spawn despite player sanity level

-some kind of event that ghoust will be involved, like maybe goht invasion, or ghost forest

-changes to bee box so you need to do something with it to keep production going after every winter

How many good ideas do you have!?

I have no inside information, like @BarovSoap, but I'm guessing they're setting the game up to live on as they move to other projects.  This includes a mod system that will best support new mods without the need to constantly pester the devs to get things to work.

would be nice if instead of bringing a cave banana tree up, you would turn the banana's into banana seeds and use them for farms although, bananas don't have seeds IRL right? im 75% sure they done have seeds in the bananas.

I don't have inside information, I read the forums. :p

Reeds also should be replantable.

In fact all plants should be replantable/regrowable, but they can need diffrent conditions like swamp/grass/cave terrain.

I want be able to plant evil flowers and marsh trees. mush trees if I want to, mainly for their look.

Sanbox games are sandbox cause of freedom, like in Terraria I can bring that lava flowers form underground and plant them on surface, add some lava there and I have nice farm.

Mods like that already exist, but it would be really nice if it were vanilla.

Ok, I'm totally NOT happy with this.

I read everywhere this game was worth it, that it had new contect every month or so for at least 6 months after release. That's the reason I bought it.

I like it, I've spend a while playing, but it got boring after you get all the basic stuff and can defeat basically anything, have a nice home, food sources, etc. Since the last update I've been waiting for more content to play again.

And we won't get it now.

Oh, but we will get a nice DLC soon, which of course we'll have to pay for!

Seriously I'm not recommending this game to my friends, I'm just being honest. If this and a few new characters is all we're gonna have on Don't Starve, it's not worth the money.

I am disheartened to hear that that seems to be it for new content for now, I was never sure why the updates where timed but enjoyed the fact that they mostly came out on time relatively bug free, if the heat season and lava caves don't have enough appeal then id rather they stay out of the game then add boring elements into what is otherwise an entertaining game.

DLC can be a tricky path, especially in survival games, I am hoping that we wont see "Gold Character, +50 to all stats" or recipes that are vastly superior with DLC components, the game will probably get a little easier with DLC as more options tend to make things easier once you know how to use them but hopefully this will be minor and offset by new challenges.

Hopefully Mod Support and DLC will bring new attention and revenue in to don't starve and allow its internal story and world to grow for another 6 months and seeing what mods people develop will be interesting.

And to everyone saying "where's my new content" I'm sure we shall get little things such as recipes and maybe a few enemies or characters, I'm still waiting for a device to stop hounds from teleporting past all my walls personally.

Sorry Konakuer, but if you're bored with a game that:

● has sandbox and multiple characters to play with (and therefor an extraordinary rarely-seen amount of gamemodes to chose from),

● with at least 2 cave levels to explore with completely different biomes after you've "conquered" the overworld (which btw takes ages),

● that let's you migrate to a different map after you've exhausted your first (wish Civilization had this!),

● and on top of that is so mod-friendly you can change everything in it to suit your tastes, or download tons of other people's customizations,

then, there's something wrong with you.

I'm not angry. I'm just not happy and think my money wasn't worth it. I seriously hate DLC, but sometimes it is fair, I HOPE it's worth it on Don't Starve, actually I think it will be.

I just don't like the fact that the 6 month update promise is turning into a "bug fix" time and then no more new content unless you pay (DLC)...

I like the game. I said it gets boring, but I'm not bored of the game itself. I trusted it was gonna have more content so I have it on stand by, and it really dissapoints me knowing that no, I won't get anything new...

I understand (not fully, but I try to) that they don't have enough money, and because of that I really hope they will add more content later, if they get more sales from the game itself or DLCs. As I see it though, adding more content constantly (not even once every 3 weeks, we can wait more) they would get more sells. That's why I got it, for example, and thinking at least the best suggestions made for the game or new original content would be a real thing someday...

They can't financially afford to update the game anymore. What are you going to do, go throw a rant at Klei for not having enough money? They are a small company, not like Mojang or some other big thing. Don't go getting all mad just because they can't update the game anymore. At least they are tuning the game and fixing up bugs. No offense, but people like you really make me mad. Now I have to go calm myself down. Thanks. And besides, if you want more content, then try mods.

Well chrome says they have 500K users so that means a minimal 500K sales. Edited by sirmentlegen

I just want to chime in here to say I fully support DLC and would love to throw money at this game.  I especially like the idea of increasing the variety and challenge level of the main game.  It's sad to have to wait till the Fall but it really isn't that far off.

I would probably pay $5-10 for the DLC depending on the scope of the content.

(taking my moderator hat off....)

Walk on over to the Cube World forums if you want to see how NOT to run an indie game.  First thing you'll notice is their forums have been locked for a month and the last 'tweet' from the (one) dev was 23 days ago. No timeline for development, no communication. Reddit is turning into a lynching mob over Cube World.

I think the money spent for DS has already paid for itself a few times over.  The devs can't working for nothing just to keep giving out updates.  You make your best guess at the beginning how things will be done and then you change as needed when reality sets in.

Don't know about you, but I've haven't gotten so much use out of a game since Minecraft.  And that's saying a lot.
