It would make no sense. Maxwell is already playable. The only way playing as William would make sense is if it took place before he was on the throne. Even then, the Don't Starve world was just void when Maxwell arrived.

They'd probably find some way around the lore... Besides, why else would they be teasing William to us throgh the update puzzles? Something more to the story? Unlikely, considering it's not in their current roadmap. They wouldn't tease us something when the game might not make enough money to gain extra content six months after launch. ;)

It's not wilton!

I find that more likely than some paradoxical William.

It's either Waverly or Wortox. Curse and a talking inventory item? Come on, it's a witch. Maybe a demon could do that too, but I'm more inclined towards a witch.

Kevin has referred to the new character as he, so it's defiantly not Waverly. He also said we've already seen the new character, and we haven't seen anything related to Wortox. I think we could probably say with fair certainty that it's neither of them.

When(/if, but i'm doubting) it turns out to be Wilton can somebody do a headcount of everyone who adamantly and sometimes rudely dismissed him as a possibility so I can rub in their faces. And somebody said Wilton didn't make sense to have the talking inventory item, except, all his lines are things like "hhhHHHH" and "rattle rattle." What if his talking inventory item is his brain and you have to use it to get a real hint out of examining something, along with like, analyzing the enemy's health? That'd be wicked cool imo.But yeah it is unlikely, but the talking inventory item I don't think is reason enough to reason him out. There don't need to be two characters who can't examine anything, methinks.

WOAH, that actually makes a ton of sense, seeing as they already made Wes mute to add to him being a hard mode character, it would be kinda weird having 2 mute characters and only having one if them be hardmode.

That doesn't mean it can be 100% ruled out, the decision belongs to Klei in the end. I don't bother speculating myself about who the new character will be, but come on, people should be allowed to believe it could be William without having someone say they lack common sense, right?

Where did you hear about that?

The past two update puzzles have shown pictures of William, and they look almost identical to Maxwell. William is a magician, according to one of the links. Examining a Bunnyman as Maxwell will say "It reminds me of my old act" Edited by oCrapaCreeper

I can't help but mention, when Maxwell gets re-worked can he have his own unique sword? When I saw the "Brings his own sword" its kind of disappointing that its limited usage and an already in-game sword that eventually gets used up. If he had a permanent sword that wasn't as powerful, but was unique that would be great.

Or a literal mechanical voice box, connected to his brain!

Are we sure that Maxwell will be re-worked?

Im think its wilton, and the skulls are the perk

Wait... That's make a lot of sense.Because those skulls are in the "inventoryimages", so it definitely is "inventory object".

*Wilton walks up to a bee hive and punches it. Then after being stung a couple of times he runs off*Me: Wilton, why did you do that :wilson_shocked: ?Wilton: Sorry, I left my brain inside my other backpack.
