Wow, Klei really made duelists (less) harder, better, faster, stronger.

Reduce the duration and effect of 2 spells to make Maxwell join the battle by using magic frequently.

If it is based on distance and coordinated attack, it does not reflect his characteristics as a king.

Let the boss set the hatred target as Maxwell first, which can increase the player's sense of participation more effectively and weaken the fighter's combat effectiveness from the side.

Thank you, klei, for making Maxwell more flexible and challenging,weak but mentally strong.

Is this using a snapshot process or does it update in real time if you switch gear out (or if it breaks)? No complaint, just curious.

    • No longer impale themselves on Cactus nor Spiky Bushes.

Bug Fixes

  • Fixed an issue with temperature sources seeping into the pocket dimensional container accessed through the Magician’s Top Hat and other sources.
  • Fixed creature AI resetting unexpectedly when Shadow Duelist phases out or uses dash attack.
  • Fixed spawners like Spider Den not working properly when hit by Shadow Duelist’s dash attack.
  • Fixed being unable to cast spells from the Codex Umbra after reviving.
  • Fixed being able to cast spells from the Codex Umbra as Wonkey.
  • Fixed the book reading animation to not flip the torso around.
  • Fixed missing Wurt strings when reading a couple of Wickerbottom’s books.

Notes to Modders

  • TUNING.SHADOWWAXWELL_WORKER_PICKUP_RADIUS_LOCAL has been changed to TUNING.SHADOWWAXWELL_WORKER_WORK_RADIUS_LOCAL to properly reflect the behaviour.

Where is my animation of the Codex flying when dropped on the ground Mr. Klei guy?

How did they get made even better with participation when they were already shredding everything with previous patch’s numbers at barely any cost? 

they have comparable health to loyal merm guards against high damage opponents and deal more damage but instead of spawning from location bound expensive huts and needing a living king, max spawns with a full codex that can summon 20 duelists anywhere before it needs to be refilled with only 4 fuel. 

And the cage can still indefinitely immobilise anything at the crazy low cost of 1/5 fuel and 15 sanity? 

Its a better version of overcoming arachnophobia except o.a. costs 33 sanity per read, spawns nightmares when sanity is insufficient, needs bookcase to unlock, materials to crafts, 5 uses per book and cant even slow down boss lunge moves. 

Like whats going on?

Okay that would be funny

also, question, did you make it so that mobs attacked by shadows prioritize Maxwell now instead of the shadow that did the attack? 

I noticed that a lot of mobs started to gun it towards me after the changes went through, Is that intentional?

It updates in real time right before each attack deals damage.

When duelist phases out from getting hit or using the lunge, they drop aggro. When this happens, the target now properly switches to their leader if nearby. Previously they often failed to retarget you before their brain reset to out of combat .

Good changes.  But could you also make it possible to quickly remove shadows instead with out just only hitting them?  Because if, for example, there are a lot of things at the base at once, and the grass farm is next to the farm of young trees, then you don’t want the shadows to start cutting down young trees after collecting grass.  Or just add the ability to highlight which objects shadows need to mine and which not.  It will be much easier and more convenient, in my opinion.

Idk why people want to nerf Wickerbottom so that Maxwell doesn't make her "irrelevant" (even though you still need her to craft her books, she drains way less sanity when reading books, and she has way more health than Maxwell) but are head over heels with Maxwell actually making other summoner characters irrelevant without needing character swapping because he can just cheaply spam things which are just as good if not better than what other people put so much effort in to get.

And he's still the best gatherer. And he has a big inventory. And he can teleport items. And he has two new spells.

Wanda can save so much time thanks to teleport and high damage with her clock. She is clearly better fighting character than Wigfrid or Wolfgang is, and faster than WX and Wormwood. 

But I dont see anyone complaining about her, she is, in fact, best character in the game.

Maxwell? his whole role is "puppet master". He IS supposed to be best with summoning minions, thats his main perk after all.

Wendy and Wurt have other intresting perks that come in gameplay beside their summoners.

If you suggested that Wanda's damage be increased from 1.75x to 2.5x, she be given a perk that makes her the best lumberjack in the game, and she starts with a couple rift watches I would disagree with that. But those aren't true so I don't understand the comparison. She is a better fighter than Wigfrid (if you're by yourself and good enough to not get hit) and if you're in a world where there isn't anything left to do she can also teleport around. Not at all comparable to someone who is by far the best gatherer, one of the best fighters, has an actually functional in non-hypotheticals item storage and teleporting, and everything else he does. All for basically free.

And what does Wurt do other than spawn minions to fight or gather? What does Webber do other than spawn minions to fight?
