There's a lot of skins in the game that "show skin" like skins that are gloves that show fingers or whatever.

Most of these skins were made with the original set of characters in mind, seeing as they're paste white those skins are also paste white and thus contrast heavily against some of the newer cast with more unique skin colors.
The excitement is over the fact that most of these skins are getting "skin tone support" which makes them change to reflect the skin tone of whoever is wearing it!
Not everything is compatible quite yet but we're getting there.

Headbase_walter_hat? Is that the command that makes Pioneer hat looks weird and tinny in Walter?

Looks like Walter wear the hat above his head and not actually in his head. Any pioneer hats can touch his forehead.

I can see that the hat in profile has become better, but in full face, it still flies. But I guess it's a tricky thing to track compatibility between all the different skins.

It is one step closer to getting it on other platforms where they have lower online interactions than others and not punish players for it.

I don’t understand this very well, I always thought that plants didn’t grow at night because they didn’t have sunlight (hence that’s where the Lux books come in play) so it’s not like the book didn’t work, but that the plant didn’t have the conditions to grow.
 

Like, the grass and twigs plants when you try to grow them with silviculture in winter, it’s not the book not working but the plant itself not being able to.

Or am I getting it wrong?

I think it's about reading at dusk and then it turning into night right as the charge is consumed, on the previous patch you would lose sanity and the book use but the plants wouldn't grow which would feel super bad.

But it seems that now you can simply read at any point during a night and it will still work, so I'm not sure.

This is a limitation imposed by the Gemstone Bracelets in that they overlap the hands in other poses. If they behaved like the Golden Bracelets the gems would render under the hands frequently making them look weird elsewhere. With the addition of skin tone support for items this one got it done due to this limitation.

Some examples that were fixed recently are Salt Box, Ice Box, and Sprouting Stone Fruit.

We'll try looking into any others as they come up, and it's a lot easier to keep track of the ones that people have been kind enough to report in our bug tracker!

I hope this works for all skins and characters and their variations like (Wurt's merm king "buffed" form)

EDIT: Nope sadly that's not the case :(. Exposed skin clothes still don't work properly with head skins that change character's entire body "skin color" or characters that have alternative forms that change skin color.

Unfortunately at this time it only works for default base skin forms.

    • Players who fully login to the game after updating will have all of their unlocked characters, skins, cookbook recipes, and plant registry knowledge be able to be used in offline mode and offline worlds.
      • Unlocking things in the cookbook and plant registry will synchronize up all pending new things with your account on your next login.
      • Be advised that if you have multiple computers with each having pending things to synchronize, will in some circumstances result in only the last synchronized computer being saved. If you do not want some cookbook recipes or plant registry knowledge being lost please make sure to sync up with your account by logging in with the game before playing offline on a different computer.
    • Currently this will be limited to the current platforms but we are looking into expanding it to the other platforms in the future, stay tuned!

    • Lureplants will no longer spawn at locations where they cannot also be manually planted.
    • Wortox Souls will no longer pop out of the inventory when murdering creatures in a full inventory if the Soul would compete with creature drops.
    • Fixed Polly Rogers not going away when the worn hat loses all durability.
    • Fixed Polly Rogers trying to give items to things that are not players.
    • Fixed Polly Rogers trying to flee from player controlled followers.
    • Fixed bug with Woodie’s movement speed after transforming inside a Sandstorm.
    • Fixed bug causing Cannonballs to appear unexpectedly at the center of the world.
    • Fixed bug where planting a Birchnut Sapling failed to pacify a nearby Poison Birchnut Tree.
    • Fixed an issue with crafting things to avoid drowning.
  • Art
    • Fixed Wickerbottom books reading animations while mounted on a beefalo.
    • Fixed various minor skins related bugs, including missing feet!
    • Fixed Cave Hole textures being low quality.
    • Fixes the facial expression for Webber's Guest of Honor skin icon.
    • Fixed some art issues with Walter and hats.
    • Fixed Ice Flingomatic range indicator art.
    • Fixed missing minimap icon for Monkeytails.
    • Fixed various minor animation bugs.
    • Fixed art alignment for various objects and skins.
    • Fixed wrong player foley sounds for the Ruins Brick turf.

    • Fixed a crash related to a typo in the inventory component.
