Look at this goldfish of a man. My dude's pupils extend out halfway beyond the width of his face.

It's funny, I'll admit, but it's pretty strange too. Any other time we've seen him he's been portrayed as a lot less cross-eyed.

I think they should probably be given another run through the presses to make Wagstaff look a bit less like a goober, but I'd like to see what other people think about this. Maybe this is just how Wagstaff is supposed to look, I don't know.

It's his process of becoming more and more near-sighted along the timeline

Guy's going blind in no time lol

That eyes now reminds me some disturbing things, but I am not gonna run into detail, because is just disturbing. I believe it was supposed to be comical, but welp...

You know how to spark interest

A mops-like situation? That one snail parasite?

Noooo! I love my dumb pug-faced brilliant scientist old fart goober!
I think he hits that nice middle ground with the silly and serious aspect. Dude's an absolute wonderful genius but his like 40 quotes saying he wants to poke thing with a stick and his doofy goggles are such a nice contract to that serious genius aspect. I couldn't live without them!

Ive always thought wagstaff’s in-game model was one of the ugliest ever, together with wilbur.  Sorry!

he looks much much better in the other art u posted.

I agree about Wagstaff, i think its the hair im not sure. I do like his cute button nose, and i think he looks waaaaaay better in WX short.

But HOW DARE YOU talk about Wilbur like that, he is perfect. Port him to DST please klei, and give him functionality with splumonkies.

Seeing so many people stand together for the sake of goofiness brings a tear to my eye. As a show of goodwill, I decided to put things into a little more perspective by looking at how the old boy in-game rather than the grainy sprite rip from the wiki.

...okay, he's pretty charming at this higher resolution. Plus I like the disappointed goldfish eyes. Hmm.....

I really don't understand why Klei decided all mobs should have a dead inspection quote when the only way to see it is to spam inspect until the mob is killed.

I always wanted Wagstaff in dst. Only because he is mega goofy looking and a badass at the same time. But with the moonstorm event, i lost all hopes of getting him as a character.

Well, maxwell wasn't a playable character until adventure mode was completed, let's hope it's the same with wagstaff, somehow.

Welll, mob corpses used to last longer way way ago in the early betas/alphas of the game. Examinations for dead mobs are most likely just a remnant of that mechanic.

What Hornet said!
Back in earlier versions of the games, Mob deaths went through many iterations. Some earlier versions of what we've got currently involved mobs poofing into smoke as soon as they died, another had a shadow-y puff after a bit.
Really early on they had lasted a lot longer and corpses would litter the ground. Hence the quotes.

As for why they're still currently being updated, Klei updates old and unused quotes all of the time, maybe accidently, maybe intentionally. I don't think the writers know what all is and isn't being used in every which way when writing, but ultimately only Klei knows, oooOoOOOOoooo~
