What do you main?

For a long time I've been in a sort of limbo, with no characters resonating with me enough to call any one of them a main, but lacking the skill to play a variety of characters
The revamped WX has taken me out of that and I can actually genuinely champion them as my favorite character now. They were always my favorite in terms of design and personality but I found playing them (outside of the original Don't Starve) really bland. The rework hasn't disappointed me at all and I have a lot of fun with them. I'm glad that it turned out so well on all ends.

Wigfrid, just love everything about her. Her aesthetic, her play style, her skins, her "voice", her quotes etc. 

I also play a ton of Wormwood and WX as well. Not a big fan of the WX rework but giving it a go because I love WX..

Wolfgang, Walter, Wendy and Wicker on occasion to change things up.

Winona, Warly and Wurt as pick and swap characters to build Merm/catapult farms and to create tons of spices. Maxwell to farm salt. Woodie on rare occasions I need tons of wood but don't want to wait for Bearger/use pigs. 

I'd love to play more wortox as I really like him but I mainly play my long term world and playing him messes with my pig farms and catcoon pen =(

Willow, Wanda and Wes pretty much never. Same with Webber but I'd like to one day make a Webber only world and just cover the entire constant with spiders.

I've mostly been playing Willow, she hits just the right spot for me in terms of power and versatility.

I always liked playing Wendy, but at the same time I kind of feel like she's a bit too good - when you're playing Wendy, the game is very different from how it is as other characters. Willow has some of the things I like about Wendy, and can to some extent serve a similar role, but not to the extent that it significantly changes how you play, you're still for the most part a "normal" character.

Even back in vanilla DS Willow was my favourite, right from back when her power was being able to drop fire right before charlie hit her. Me back then was like "total immunity to darkness? best character ever!", and when she got reworked into having the lighter I was like "infinite light source? even better!"
Eventually I finally realised that she just really wasn't that good, but in the time since I've kind of come back to her precisely because of that.

Honestly i've seen Wurt players fairly often on Pubs way before her refresh.

Haven't seen a single Wes except very rarely one as a skeleton.

For the longest time I mained Wigfrid. Several multi-hundred day worlds. Then she got her rework and it was even better. -But then I started playing Walter and Wortox and Wolfgang and WX, in that order... and started realizing Wig is cool, but for my playstyle and the direction the games been heading, I really like a flexible diet. Not that only eating meat is very difficult, but being able to chow anything in your path is an insane ability (Wolf and WX especially showed me this). Also Wigfrids helmets really lose their punch mid to late game, and even earlier now the Terraria Eye Mask is a thing... leaving her some songs, and a slight damage boost and mitigation. which are decent, but the more experienced you get the less you really need the regen on hit stuff..

Which leaves me with my closing statement.. I really enjoy Wolfgang. At the point where I am in my game experience having double damage is the greatest perk. (Wanda is cool, but i just don't feel like playing her.. something about her teleports just makes me feel guilty). Maintaining Wolfs hunger and might aren't an issue. Just stay busy gathering/fighting, and chow what you can, and hold your dumbbells unless you got to get somewhere fast and don't expect combat in-between. (Unless you're just decked out at base and can run through Marbells/GemBells like candy). Sanity never has bothered me on any character (except Wendy). The benefit of a Marble/Piggyback is also pretty neat. All around Wolf and I just click well. Also 200 every stat say whaaat

he's pretty cool, but i think the reason not a lot of people play him is his lack of power in mid game and annoyance of moon storm event as him. 

Moose form requires specific items/teammates to heal(jellybeans, Wigfrid's health stealing song, Wortox's healing) even though it's mostly meant for tanking(90% defense with no durability, less movement speed, slower atack speed).

Goose is not as convinent as beefalo, even though he stands best of 3 forms currently due to being able to walk on water. 

Beaver has a nice advantage of not summoning treeguards, which is actually helpful in lategame... or it would be if we haven't had Bearger. 

it is still good for early game, but we also have Wurt and Maxwell who can do it faster, so even though it's not useless, it could be better. 

so what i'd like to see is some way to prevent the curse (to not struggle during lunar storm) and better versions of forms(like, we have quite a lot of lunar stuff around, why not, idk, stick moonmoth into the were-idol or something.

Chose the I don't really main option, but I guess I played Wolfgang the most. I'm also a frequent Wanda enjoyer, a Wendy enthusiast, and a Wormwood connoisseur.

I used to main Winona before all the reworks, then Warly, and now potentially wx78 but it hasn't been long. I'd say most of my hours are Winona and Warly.

After woodies refresh there were a huuge number of woodie mains on the forums. Surprising to see it drop to 0 in this poll. 

daily lunar storm transformations and an out of the blue nerf to beaver and moose mspeed in storms did a number on him…  EotS broke woodie. 

For me its an equal split between Wickerbottom and Wormwood, i play as them most of the time. Followed by Wurt and Woodie.

Because Woodie is harder to understand than most characters (as evidenced by someone telling you the AoE moose form is made for tanking bosses and therefore bad). He's a very versatile character with many strengths but a lot of people just write him off without trying him because they only think about year 2+ with annoying bearger wrangling or disingenuously compare him to the other gatherers without comparing all of what each character can do or what they have to do to do it. 

I see Woodie a lot on public servers and he's in a pretty good spot for global pickrate. But this single choice poll for a single main on the forums isn't showing him love.

To be honest, it's much easier for me to name characters that I DON'T play. I'm a solo player, but I don't like unnecessary challenges, so I very often switch depending on the task at hand, to a character, for whom it will be easiest. And I would say that with each rework, the list of those who I feel comfortable playing is only increase. For example, when changing characters in one world wasn't available, I often chose WX-78, because they can be greatly upgraded and live happily. But after this addition (which I strongly support, the best update ever), it became unprofitable, because changing a character is "death", and death is the loss of gears. I would have to become WX-78 for very long periods of time to make it worthwhile, which doesn't fit my playstyle. But now gears are just optional, even if still cool food. Their current replacement in the form of circuits can be lost too, but they are much easier to maintain and reproduce if necessary. So now I can play with WX-78 again. The same goes for Wurt - I tried to play with her before, but she was clearly an unpolished character, although I'm not a follower player in general (except for Abigail, she is only one and easy to control). But all the recent changes might convince me to give her a shot again. And although there are a few more characters on the list that I'm currently avoiding, I'm actually looking into the future where that will change and I'll be able to play them all on an equal grounds.
