I’m talking like would it be a caves overhaul, another crossover, or another QoL (please go into specifics if you can!) I’m really curious what ideas people have for content. I personally would want an update themed around overhauling set pieces (changing and adding to the current ones whilst adding ocean ones, maybe add a few tiny islands with treasure on them). I think I’ve said this before, but DST’s lack of verticality really makes it much more challenging for the world gen to be exciting. You can’t have tall mountains or deep pits like you can in games like Minecraft or terraria, so special set pieces help remedy this issue, however the current ones are very lacking I feel and the real interesting ones are too uncommon and aren’t very exciting. The Constant is a very strange place, I think it’d be cool if it sometimes felt strange whilst you explored it. I think I’d also enjoy another update similar to the waterlogged one, which focused on adding 1 content-dense biome to the ocean. There’s a lot of potential you could do for cool stuff. One idea I really enjoy is a sort of swamp/mire themed biome, with giant frogs and a dense fog. Perhaps it could be a sort of “evil” alternative to the waterlogged biomes, with thorny brambles around and a few giant, dead trees covering the biome. Imo waterlogged turned out wonderfully and added a lot of engagement to seafaring. A similar new biome to visit via seafaring, this time polar themed, would fit wonderfully as a content update. I'm thinking something that focused on draught over wildfires. Not with a thirst meter or anything, but stuff like encountering optical mirages while walking in the summer heat that you can then investigating to discover some unique rewards or unique summer mobs (that give unique rewards). Also, this would ideally come with a mini-rework on the Antlion to encourage keeping it alive and trading with it instead of just killing it right away. Oh, and some way to use the Desert Stones and Lazy Deserters in singleplayer. Owlrust Posted March 31, 2022 Share Posted March 31, 2022 I would make an update centered around re-designing the main biomes to give them more purpose and fit in more thematically. For the swamp, large trees with a canopy and rivers flowing through with lilypads instead of just ponds. Alligator enemies and frogs littering the riverbanks with a minor fog overlay. Expanding the Mosaic biome's graveyard. Skeletons, Zombies, and Ghosts alike, with Owls in the trees. Living trees that sprout from the ground and Owls that hoot every now and then. Something that makes each area unique and worth revisiting on multiple occasions after you've gotten what you wanted. In general I'd personally like to see an update focused on immersion down the line. You have a island full of medical items with a almost shelter like setting. It could give some lore to the rabbits and the moon. Perhaps introduce a yeti type mob to protect something important to the island. Something horrible could happen you do something to the island. And the Desert Stones are only useful as decor. It's true, when i first read about them i assumed they are usable as some sort of stationary wormholes that you can setup and use yourself. Desert stones would have to be more expensive, like red/blue gem, this way you would also benefit in keeping antlion alive. I don't have any specific ideas, but imagine Quacken reworked for DST, or a boss that is an entire island you have to fight by jumping on and off and swimming around it with your boat. (And maybe Spring as well, to a lesser extent.) Also I want a shiny cutlass! It's recipe should be 1 board 4 gold and 2 flint. Make it do 50 damage or something idk, I just want another sword. The torch skin update! We need more torch skins for they light the way to our future. The Wolfgang rework rework, these Wolfgang reworks won't be reworking themselves. Then dragunfly update! Add guns to the game! With that this game will finally become the true uncompromising experience it always was meant to be. Add Wilton. Minecraft crossover. This update would introduce a bunch of stuff, most importantly however, it will add the Bedrock Wither (Hard). This boss will have 10000 health and will literally be the god death, destruction and angry forum posts. The only reason it was added was so that keli can punish players for trying to fight a Minecraft boss in don't starve together. Oh yeah maybe add the dirt block from Minecraft too. In exchange bedrock players get a crappy Minecraft map in the marketplace. The height update, all characters will now be accurate to their confirmed height. The fighting update! You can stab now! Airplane update! There are airplanes now, run. The end update! We get a cool cutscene of charlie ducking it out with Mumsy. Wait frick I'm out of updates. It's annoying as heck to have to sail round the mainland in order to get your boat on the other side, so I wanna be able to make some (late game?) magic craft that lets me put my boat into a conveniently portable bottle, structures and all, the deploy it at a location of my choosing. They can make it heavy or whatnot, so you'll need a Beefalo to carry it to where you want to deploy it at a reasonable speed. That's nice, but I was mostly looking for an excuse to use that god-awful pun. I do love the idea of a biome that changes drastically with the seasons. And some of the glaciers melting away to allow boat entry would be cool too. Mike23Ua Posted March 31, 2022 Share Posted March 31, 2022 A Summer Rework Update.. that reworks the entire summer weather season- if any of you have played Gears of War 5 when you reach the Red Sand Desert & they have to travel through a Desert in a Solar Flare Sandstorm where magma lightning bolts crash down creating temporary trees out of pure molting lava, & Firenadoes ravage through the area: Basically that… but with cool mobs like desert Scrab Beetles, Sand Worms, and cool season exclusive crafting material resources & stuff.
