Pinkamena11FazP Posted December 23, 2021 Share Posted December 23, 2021 So, a long time ago there was this old thread I cannot find now used to be all about using video clips of characters that exist, to give the DST characters a real voice Instead of it just being instruments. For this thread, there will only be a few rules: 1. Try to make sure the clips are in English 2. If the clip has swearing you can put it in a spoiler tag with a "bad word warning" or simply clip out the bad word. 3. Adding in to try to censor sensitive topics as I realized people might voice claim songs that reference self harm and stuff like that. Wilson: At first I was like "Oh wait, I KNOW this YouTuber, which Yogscaster is this..." 'cos I've seen a bunch of their DST LPs (most of them are in my handmade playlist). THEN I mentally smacked my internal forehead and realised it was Wheatley. That said, Wilson isn't British. Everybody thinks he is, but he's from NEW England. That means he should have an accent from one of the northeastern U.S. states. (Not sure which one.) 2. Warly? Um, okay he does sound the correct...race? but I always pictured him with a French or New Orleans accent. Also a hair too deep. 3. Charlie's voice is AMAZING, especially the doubled/split-personality thing goin' on in those clips. 4. WX's voice is Arin from Game Grumps' Monika from "Doki Doki Literature Club". I will accept NO substitutions. Spoiler Yeah, there's uncensored swearing, it's Game Grumps and from only 2018 (I think). But FriendArin-Monika is just the FUNNIEST robot performance I've heard so far. 5. Maxwell...okay I get why they picked the _lines_ they did, but I've always heard him as way more of a David Warner or Vincent Price type. 6. Wolfgang...eeeehhhh...not quite deep enough. Even though he's not actually dumb, I kinda hear him as the Big Dumb Guy voice, with a...generic (Continental) European accent. For an example from stuff I've been watching lately, maybe something kinda like DD's voice from Kittisaurus: Spoiler (DD starts getting his (short) lines around 2 minutes in, and also shows he isn't actually that dumb, as cats go.) Anyway, the generic "I am the Big Dumb Guy!" voice. (Also Claire's first language is Korean, not English, so cut her a little slack on the accent.) 7. Winona...okay the accent's wrong but I just kinda see her as Vasquez from "Aliens". So do some other people: Spoiler (and right in the intro, you can hear my "Wheatley = Yogscast member" confusion.) Although this isn't actually Winona AS Vasquez; I'm just showing that this is where I got the idea from. Heh. 8. Wendy is okay...I don't know if it's EXACTLY what I would've picked, but okay. Maybe something more like Christina Ricci as Wednesday Addams, even though I know, yes, that's WILLOW'S costume. But, tell me this tone of voice/overall spooky goth-kid attitude doesn't fit the tone of Wendy's flute: Spoiler 9. Willow...I USED to think she might sound that high, because at first I thought she was a kid (y'know, the teddy bear, and how almost everybody has those chibi-esque proportions). Now I know she's in her 20s. She'd sound like...hmmmm.... I dunno, maybe I'll just say Tara Strong and call it a day. That woman's played EVERYONE, I'm sure she could do a good Willow. Spoiler (her Raven on "Teen Titans" is another great deadpan/gloomy snarker voice for Wendy, too.) (yes there are boobs in the thumbnail, shut up. It's still a good showcase of voices. : P) 10. Woodie is okay...I dunno, I hear him a bit gruffer than that. "I'm the tough woodsman of the wilderness!" voice kinda thing. 11. Wurt is just SPOT ON. I dunno why, but that's _exactly_ how I hear her. 12. Wickerbottom is...what the frick is that? I guess the character whose voice that is LOOKS kinda like her? Anyway no, I hear something way more like Evelyn Smythe from the "Doctor Who" radio plays: Spoiler Seriously, is that Wickerbottom or WHAT? (Yes, I fully expect some people to say it's "what". Well I've been saying that to the other voices, so fair enough.) Like, her very first line in the video is her TELLING PEOPLE TO BE QUIET, like a librarian! 13 . Wortox I don't really have an opinion on. It's okay. 14. No no, Webber should be...oh who's that cute little kid spider with the short videos. Um... Spoiler LUCAS! That was it! Lucas the Spider! Only maybe British, 'cos some of his quotes sound like he might be. His grandfather was a farmer; maybe Webber's human form originally came from the good ol' fashioned village of Henford-on-Bagley or something. 15. Walter's voice I have no problem with. It sounds pretty close to what I would've imagined. 16. Wormwood...? I'm not sure exactly who I WOULD cast, but the one here is serviceable. If I manage to come up with the name/voice/quote later, I'll post it.
