marble suit + the buff you suggest and you wont be able to die

klei balanced the hp lose with the ultility of having access to the best (best since he removes the debuff)  and cheaper armor in the game

I wouldn't really say "removes the debuff" more like "he gains his speed boost which he used to have all the time now only with heavy stuff" which isnt a feature, its a nerf
But, 50% is much. While I wouldnt say he would be unkillable, unlike a certain viking with marble armor, he would be tanky.

But, we went from a tactical nuke to a situational tactical nuke that cant leave the base, because otherwise he is Wilson but worse.

To be frank, this Wolfgang reminds me of Wolfgang before the Strange Powers update..but now you have to work out to achieve the same result!

Wolfgang is overrated by many. He really only shines solo but this is a team game and he's average to below average in a team setting. These changes are really bad to the point where I will no longer play Wolfgang. This adds nothing to him or the team he is on. Sad because I love the way he looks in game. I guess I'll pick up wormwood.

you ruined him

I hope someone makes a mod that adds it back that just activates when he's mighty

I am really happy with the 2x speed removal. This was freaking too OP and didnt make sens; since when the big buff dude is the fastest? Ya can't be the fastest and the strongest. But having no speed penality on piggybackpack an marble suit + faster rowing are a genius Ideas Klei! So Wolfgang , instead of being a lightning fast tanky powerhouse, is now ... wait for it.. a still fast and even more tanky powerhouse when paired with the marble suit.

its 1.25x speed

not 2x speed

Old mighty Wolfgang made you walk as fast as a walking cane... without one

2- Allow him to chop, mine and hammer down faster when mighty.

I kind of disagree with this point, I would much rather it be one of Winona's perks.

All the other ones though, especially #3, sound like they would be great.

А что если я дырищ и пришли гончие? Я не смогу как раньше нажраться и дать им люлей!!! Верните увеличение скорости при могучей форме!!!!

Most complaints ive seen is that the dumbells are slow. The stone dumbell you start with is meant to be slow. It's cheap and affordable. It's not meant to give mightyness right out of the gate. The stone dumbell is meant to keep you out of wimpy form.

The more expensive dumbells are used to gain mightyness. They are quite fast and durable at gaining gains.

The whole complaining that you cannot become mighty as you join the game is like complaining that you are not overcharged and fully upgraded as WX when you spawn in.

It's called game progression.

I never played Wolfgang but on paper this sounds a bit like a nerf.

Then again like i said i never played him personally.

this is probably my biggest problem with the refresh if you hated/thought he was boring before you still think that way

No your biggest problem should be this ^

Huh odd. I thought pre-refresh wolfgang was boring. I actually like this refresh and find it fun.

I also wouldn't group everyone who found Prefresh Wolfgang boring under the same umbrella without actually having back up from other people.

My main problem with Wolfgang wasn't his inconsistency when speaking about his damage, or he being a team carry OP character, but rather, his main problem is that he doesn't feels like a Character for DST, but rather for Singleplayer DST. You guys need to make him a more Coop-based character, like you did with Wigfrid, like you did with Warly, hell, even like you did with Wes! Despite Wes being worse than every other survivor on every single aspect, at the very least he's not entirelly useless in a Coop scenario, his balloons are something!
Make him something interesting and useful to use in a team scenario, not a One-Man Army.

im sorry for generalization but it does seem like nothing has really changed he still is more or less the same except they took and took and gave stuff thats outclassed by other characters

its tied for first and ive complained about it enough

My friend plays a lot of Wolfgang & Woodie he prefers Woodie more because Wolfgang is just so overpowered in what all he can do that he finds the playstyle boring (this is Pre-Rework) I mean.. more damage & more speed don’t exactly require “skill” or even “effort” to achieve.. You just cram food in your face and blam your flying around the map with the speed of Justice Leagues Flash, But the Strength & Health of the Incredible Hulk..

Do people even watch super hero movies? Or better yet real life with Wrestling/sports? Bigger Men DON’T move faster..

For these reasons Wolfgang felt like the Easy Mode character, even more easy then Wortox or Wendy even… because you literally only needed to carry around Pierogi and get the best healing, damage AND Speed in the game..

It was Broken, and more importantly it was Perfectly OKAY to be broken in a SINGLE PLAYER GAME but when he is brought over into Multiplayer: he just ends up Out-doing every other character choice in terms of easy healing, best damage, simple speed.

I LOVE that his Mighty form now requires him to actually DO a little more then just eat stuff, I love that he has new abilities, what I DoNt love is that he still doesn’t have any perks that directly benefit or help a TEAM.. they all still very much feel like “self” perks and I was hoping that would change.

Im also equally disappointed that the dude is supposed to be as strong as a Merm: But he can’t Merm Punch Boulders with his Bare Fists.

I think many of the people complaining about Wolfgang’s rework changing him, have forgotten many of the changes to the core game itself that justify those changes-

Marble Armor now costs HALF what it used to do this dude can now get 2 Marble Armors for the price one used to cost.

Beefalo are now DAY ONE Mounts, you can start taming and riding one as soon as you find him and more importantly: PASSIVELY continue to tame him as you continue to RIDE HIM: You can also pick up resources WITHOUT DISMOUNTING HIM- and follows you EVERYWHERE so other then the times he Bucks you off: There won’t be any time you won’t be riding him around to tame.

Bat-Bat, and Belt of Hunger were also changed to be more easy to craft- which free healing upon use, slowed Hunger drain.. there’s also the passive food Milk Hats..

Heavy Structures can be pulled up OUT OF THE SEA carried on a Boat, and used for on the go heavy lifting to keep his MIGHT up: And he can do so now with no penalty to movement. Not to mention increased speed of Movement with them universally for everyone (but Wolf More) so go faster.. carry heavier enjoy keeping Might longer.

Wolfgang STILL has the following Problems even AFTER his Rework:

1- Being Mighty isn’t fun outside of Combat.. was really hoping he would get to do stuff like snatch full grown trees out the ground and replant them elsewhere, punch boulders with bare fists, pick up Antlion rocks it drops in a cave in Summer and use it as a FREE Dumbell throwable,

2- No Team based abilities so in the same way he can toss Dumbells and Antlion Boulders I would love to toss team mates across gaps of land to help THEM travel around the map/caves faster.. maybe if the team mate wants to come back after exploring they can make a daring leap, and the mighty Wolfgang extends his mighty arm outward to catch them with one hand pulling them back to him

(the intent here is that Wolf would need to rely on another player to explore the gap he flings them across while he himself can’t get across- TEAM WORK..)

Also let non-Wolfgang’s use Dumbells for short bursts of extra Damage.

Slightly Disappointed WOODIE has all the fun stuff- Faster movement to flee an area outside of combat, Ability to Chop/Mine/Gather without needing to use a tool, Oh yeah and fun Combat Abilities like a charge attack and AoE ground pound.

Its no wonder my friend stopped playing Wolfgang as much and went to Woodie.

He loves the cosmetics of Wolfgang.. and I hope Klei makes this rework fun enough for him to enjoy.. take the feedback of everyone here- Re-evaluate.. and make something great everyone can like.

(but please don’t bring back that speed boost unless it’s in Wimpy Non-Combat form..)

It’s like expecting someone the size of WWES Big Show to move with the strength and Agility of Rey Mysterio- It’s Impossible: Even if You ARE The Mightiest man alive.

JoeW I think the rework is going to infuriate the fans, the speed and defense penalties are something they shouldn't have changed, I feel they nerfed it and it doesn't deserve it, where could I complain about the changes

please dont change the boost of speed :wilson_cry::wilson_cry::wilson_cry::wilson_cry::wilson_cry:

Ok, im new in the forum, and ill be quick about it, Wolfgang is much more fun to me the way it is, the only frustration i have, is how hard is too keep the metter, which will cause lots of situations where you are caught of guard, with the metter on 0, so all i think the rework needs, is a way to keep the normal form at 50% easily, or at the brick of getting whimpy, by for example, having the hunger metter always above 50% or something like that, honestly i think the speed nerf was much needed, that speed bonus wasn't even supposed to be a thing, and we have good compensation for that, by being able to use heavy armor and piggy backpack without penalty, and overall, at an ideal cenario wolfgang is stronger than before, because of how the damage formula used to work, its way more interesting now to play wolfgang than it was before, by just activating easy mode on the click of a button (eating meatstew), because lets be honest, that is what Wolfgang really was, easy mode without any penalty

Ideas for wolfgang's rework (no need to implement all of them, just giving some examples)

- Speed -
If the old speed is way too fast, maybe give him half of it, like 1.1x

Make speed be tied to sanity: The more insane he is, the faster he gets, like he is scared

Make his wimpy form faster

- Dumbbell -

Improve the rock dumbell

Let mighty wolfgang use the dumbells while he is moving

- Potato Sack-

Turn into an item of the food tab that lets you store veggies, making them spoil slower

Reading the post, I think these are the things the community most want

An interesting thing they could add for Wolfgang is him to be immune or less likely to be stunned by something hitting him when mighty, would make sense and make him feel more like a big and hulking beast to take on, furthermore it would compliment his what seems to be more battle oriented changes they made to his constant damage.

I started walking around to pick up all the starting resources, and managed to fall from the mighty form.

The mightyness falls very quickly, and there is no implication of how fast it happens- there is no down arrow or sound effects for it dropping until Wolfgang deflates like a balloon.

It's barely day 3 and I'm wimpy already, and I used up the starting dumbbell on first day. The mightyness decay feels super fast for how long it takes to build it up- by the weakest dumbbell available, that is. I'll see how the upgrades do in comparison.

Mightyness lasts very little. I don't know if the decay is slower while fighting, or if there are other ways of making it last longer, but most hard fights will have you back to normal not even halfway in.

Yeah I think the mightiness needs to be able to be held a bit better.  Lifting the gold / gem weights aren't so bad but its not something I want to do mid fight, especially for how little mightiness they give.  What I think would work best is have his mightiness not drop at all if you're over a certain hunger threshold, this brings back a bit of the flavor of previous Wolfgang eating mid-fight, which isn't too difficult to do, while not directly linking full hunger to full might.

my secret craving for a rhythm game in DST has been sort of satisfied. I think it's working nicely, I assume replacing the weights as other heavy stuff will make the process faster. Overall, I like it, though I'm not sure I'd have the patience to do it every time I want to fight. Welp, there's always dumbbells, which are a bit more boring but I can use the time to sort the inventory while Wolfgang lifts. I'm curious if replacing the weights will change the tempo of the game, make it harder or something. Several things:

More importantly, I got the figure sketch and I heard boss figures make the gym more efficient. I really want to check that.

Huh. It looks like the "success" window got wider. Which is kind of unexpected- I'd assume it'd get smaller, since, you know, easy first, difficult later. But this is DS we're talking about... I guess making the gym less strict is an improvement for some people. What do I do with the potato sacks though... Where's my hammer? Except you can't hammer them. Set on fire? I guess that works.

I'm definitely with you here ~ It seems super easy even with the small potato sack success range, with marble boss statues its just stupid ez.  They should probably increase the speed of reps here - which would be both more fun as a mini game and make it quicker to get fully mighty on demand.

His speed buff was his only utility skill.

I won't argue that he is stronger now, but combat isn't always necessary. At a point you'll have bunnymen/catapults farming bosses, farms for mobs, etc.

Maybe his dumbbells can destroy/weaken resource points when thrown too? Something to help with his greater reliance on stone.

I almost feel like they gave him faster rowing speed when mighty just to get to the lunar island and get stonefruit
