You gotta domesticate the oxyferns They are actually very efficient water to oxygen. However you will need more sources of gas no matter what. The ferns convert co2 and o2 at the same ratio dupes breathe.

As for breaking into other biomes. Why are you so afraid? You only need the first digging skill to get out of the start biome. The only one you need to be especially careful of is slime and there is far less slime out there than there used to be.

Dude I'm OCD with the gases it like kills me the only 2 gases I'll allow is co2 and oxygen I build deodorizers like everywhere

can we get a screenshot of your base, or just more information?

do you have access to rust?

do you have access to water?

is there any oxyferns nearby?

Btw for the rust I dont like coldness my duplicates are so stupid they trap themselves 90% of the time I'm working on it but it will take a loooooong time.water no very little I dont wanna remove my only source of water(a mini lake) oxyferns their is around 10 but idk how they work so is that enough info

When I first started playing ONI, I carefully avoided breaching all sources of chlorine because the text said it was toxic. I thought it would kill by dupes because I didn't have protective suits yet.

I am struggling with O2 as well, but I domesticated around 10 Oxyfern for now and it is barely keeping my Colony. If i got it right, we will need a min. of 3 Oxy for 1 dupes (30 g/s per Oxy and 100g/s Dupes, correct me if I am wrong). And occasionally using algae that I scrapped (yes, scrapped because how rare it was in the biome with slime).

And now I am on food shortage, trying to grow some lettuce atm.

Lettuce works well. For the ferns, calculate 3.5 per dupe to have a bit of redundancy. With the new changes, one way to kill your colony fast (at least in some asteroid types) is to grow it too fast.

Accepting a new dupe whenever possible has always been a fast way to kill your colony. Sure it isn't downright impossible to survive gaining a lot of dupes fast, but you need to know what you are doing.

Can you even get extra seeds for the oxygen plant? Is it harvestable? Or are you stuck with whatever you can find. It would limit your options a lot if this was the case.

As far as I can see (only played Aborea to cycle 16), you have about enough for 3-4 dupes initially, that is if you domesticate them. And no way to get more.

Haven't played much but I see the lettuce likes to drown. Do we know the maximum water/brine they can grow in assuming this is on purpose?

Caustic biomes next to you have algae for a deoxy.  Rust biomes next to you have rust and salt for a rustalizer.  Dig, my friend.  Dig your way to freedom!

Alternately, sit in your hole and do as little as possible.

First: how much are you digging?  Don't excavate the whole thing, you don't have oxylite everywhere like the old start.  Your O2 will get spread too thin before your dupes breathe it all.

Second: leave wild ferns alone.  If you have a half dozen or so in basins with collected co2, that's half a dupe's air for free.  Research up to hydroponics and only then farm them.

Second and a half: if you're REALLY hard up for oxygen, put ferns in planters and dupes can fetch water manually.  You'll need 10 for your starting three dupes.

Seems to be one tile. Let me find out...

Yes, seems to be exactly one (non-compressed) tile or 999.9kg

Yea, once i get the initial 12 cycles harvested, I am pretty much safe on the food size. I lost few dupes however due to excavating to chlorine biome and they cant reach the base fast enough to get O2. My O2 still spread too thin. This new asteroid type is definitely changing the early to mid game a lot. I simply cant produce enough oxygen and havent even found one rustic biome at all. And I cant use electrolyser because I am low on water. I was just about to make a desalinator. I shld probably just convert all the pW into water temporarily.

Do you guys encounter any geyser at all? I am reaching the left and right side of my map and see no geyser at all (might be just my luck and the map seed, but just wondering.

Ah, so as long as they're not 2 tiles deep they should be fine. Sweet. Thanks for checking. (I'm at work for the rest of the day) a

They are there. I have encountered a number of them using debugging to reveal the maps. No comment on count though. Somebody mentioned that it seems boulders can replace geysers, which if true is a horrible feature.

I have 3 geyser all close by, but i need to unlock level 3 mining to see what they have.
