Anyone else have Copper Trauma?

I've realized that I must have had a bit of copper trauma from a long ago game, lol!

I ran out of unrefined copper to make exosuits with way back when..  and now I find myself shepherding my copper like its, well, gold.

Silly when I have 23t+ but there you have it.   Anyone else have this habit?

 

Is it even available on satellites? I'm not that far in my current game.

Both Copper and Copper Ore can be found in space on the first destinations (Metallic Asteroid 20k km and Rocky Asteroid 30k km). Satellites may or may not spawn on 30k km and 40k km and have Copper but one wants Copper Ore for suits. 

Needless to say, there is no need for a trauma/a paranoia if you do not refine (at) all since buildings can be deconstructed and replaced easily.

You can always make jet suits and just not feed them petroleum.

do they even use the suits if there is no petrol in them ?

I always assumed, when using them, that both tanks had to be full for a dupe to accept using it.

Now that I realize what I'm doing its more funny than anything.  at 23t its not like i'm in danger of not making a suit, hehe.
I posted because i was laughing and thought some might as well.  its funny how we develop habits

Before we could use steel for our radiant pipes, I found some places where copper pipes would be superior compared to wolframite.

(I am always going for an "optimal" material for each application.)

=> Right now I would be able to automate the copper farming using rockets but I have no use for my copper besides exosuits

 

PS: Do you know if there is still some niche application where copper ore or copper would be "the optimal" choice ?

I`m always like. "if i need extra copper ore i can just upgrade all my wires to conductive" or "all my inner base doors are copper, i gotta remember to deconstruct those when i run dry". I actually ran out of copper only once on my 3rd or 4th playthrough but since then i`m extra careful about it for no reason lol.

I'm the exact same, and had the same experience early on.  Still think it's stupid that suits are only craftable from copper ore.

ye I literally don't use my copper for anything other than exosuits.

I dig out of the starting biome as soon as I have jobs researched on cycle 2, so I can start building everything out of gold amalgam or iron instead.

Once I have an exosuit forge I end up setting it to continuous and have 100s of them that never get used. But they're there for insurance lol.

Just feels wrong using copper for anything other than exosuits now lmao.

I use copper for heavy wires for a while until most of it is gone, then when the copper trauma kicks in, I search for some iron.  Using copper for heavy wires tends to ensure that I have copper later in game as I normally replace the wires with pretty heavy conductive wires.

Me? Copper Trauma? Not at all.

Copper stingy, yes. But these days, I just try to budget the refined copper ahead of time. Like when I am about to hit some 6tons, I'd immediately use it for copper refining. Nonetheless, these days, I'm able to refine stuff long before hitting 6tons. But you know, there is that "JUST IN CASE" feeling around :).

Found my Copper volcanos inside an ice biome. Left it open, never refined one single kg of copper & 1000 cycles later, here we are. Oh and my ice biome reached 200degrees.
