Is it possible to spawn a player that has exited by the admin?

Recommended Posts

If not, there should be. Some griefers can come in and steal things and destroy them while you're away. Them being killed afterwards would be the only way to ensure they can't grief if they ever come back.

If there is, what command would it be? And how could you find a player's file/data on a dedicated server and a hosted one too may be?

Wouldn't.... wouldn't banning just solve the problem infinitely better? I'm not quite sure what you're asking for here.

Are you asking if you can change an individual's playerdata so when they reconnect they're already dead? Or is this something else?

Seriously? I would think I was quite clear.

Players spawn themselves in when they join. If a player has LEFT THE GAME, can the admin spawn the player's character in with all of the data? Because if you ban them, but they have stolen things, there's no way to get those items from their character back.

Banning them won't bring back items they stole. Sure, you could respawn the items themselves, but it feels less cheaty if you just kill them to get the exact items they stole back.

Well it is possible to copy the griefer's items onto another player's, You need access to the Host files and the Host Console Log.

*sight*...

Are we playing a game of who can make the most "idk wtf is going on" comment? Can you, as an admin, spawn in a player's character when they have logged off, yes or no?

You’re being quite unfair and impatiently and aggressive to those who are helping you on their own time.

No you cannot spawn in a player exactly as they were as an entity after they have logged off without mods, whether this mod exists or not I don’t know.

I needed the old non-encoded players sessions setting (discussion in here) for this purpose alone. having the folders back in the KU_xxx format things are just a matter of following a few easy steps:

1. Disconnect from the DST server (in-game, not the server itself)
2. Go to the Master/save/session/ in your DST server installation folder (for example .klei/DoNotStarveTogether/MyDediServer/Master/save/session cos I'm on Linux and I'm lazy with folders) and inside the folder your will find a single folder (in my case is D725F0049643D78D) and inside it more folders in KU_xxx format for each player that has been on the server and backup days of the server.
3. Locate your own KU_xxx folder a backup of it then leave it empty (for example KU_John)
4. Locate the prick fine gentleman's folder that griefed (for example KU_Prick) then copy the files you find in this folder into yours (mentioned above)
5. Connect in-game onto the server.
6. Dump the stuff you have in your inventory or whatever.
7. Put the files you made a backup at step 3.
8. Do a happy dance! xD

Edit: Technically should be possible to do it with a lengthy command that I'm now aware of, but then again you won't be able to control that player so would have to make it dump it's inventory and then have to remove it.. yeah, I would rather rely on method mentioned above. Need help on the server?

Didn't you post in the wrong thread?... You're talking about enabling caves on an existing world, but this topic is about spawning disconnected players. I guess you meant this thread?

Btw, here some people say that it is actually possible and I also heard it earlier as well, even tho I never tried.

Oh jesus, sorry, I'll remove it now.

@EuedeAdodooedoe If someone just left with some important stuff doing a rollback for me would just translate into adding insult to the injury because now would not only have wasted an entire day for myself but for others as well. So, for this reason alone I prefer to ban, switch folders, dump stuff and switch back from backup. Sure, it's a bit of hassle for me, but as long I didn't bother others it's a win for me.

There's the Drop yer Stuff mod, which drops a player's inventory every time they disconnect. That might be considered admin griefing, especially for people who forgot they had rabbits, birds, and bees in their inventory... but if I can use the mod without too much tragic loss, I think anyone could. It also helps for players who don't intend to grief. They just forgot to take off the only Tam o' Shanter on the server before logging out.

What'd be neat is a mod that somehow made those Klaus... packagey things, of a player's inventory on disconnect. So it'd be preserved, but not unrecoverable by others. I'd say make bundling wrap bundles, but free bundling wrap kind of takes the fun* out of the game.

*fun means death
