Don't starve together - Steam awards 2016

Recommended Posts

Hi starving fellows, did you know? Don't starve together is finalist for the steam awards 2016, in the category "best with friends"...
and that's all, I just wanted to came here and say congratulations klei. These are not like the videogame awards where the indie games have their own category, this ones are selected by us, the players, and that's what really matters. I'm happy because I always play this game and say: "this game is so good, why the people don't even know that exist?, why this game isn't popular?", now I see how popular really is, how many people play it, I see how much has evolved since the single player and how good was designed when 3 or 4 players come to my server, everyone from a different country speaking a different language and we can still playing without problems.

I see the effort and dedication in every detail of the game since 2012 and I can not be more satisfied with the final result, did you expect a success like this?, how it feels to know that your game is that good and popular?, Im not telling that the other finalist are bad, I love most of them, but I think DST have everything to win.

Congratulations again Klei team!, I wait great things from you

Totally agree, DST is a game worth been known.

But how the awards work? Can we vote for DST to win or something?

I don't even know, this is the first time that I voted on steam, we can vote for the finalists in a certain date, besides, I voted DST in other category, and it fits in at least 3 of them, but I think best with friends is the best one

It's a good choice that DST was published by TGP in China.

So……I also think about why LOL is so popular which came from a map of War3 —— DOTA.In other words, whether DS or War3 is only just a place which platform those Moders show their intreseted minds.I mean this ability of Mod should be given for everystarver who grips a mouse.

Now 2 directions for KLei's future.Seriously, mobile terminal for DST//&//Mod editor for fools (like me).

Why aresome picks so obvious but others make you wonder for half an hour??

I don't know, people just nominated their favorite games instead of understanding what the categories meant.

Why is Unturned in the "I Thought This Game Was Cool Before It Won An Award" category? I'm pretty sure it has never won an award yet.

Why is CS:GO in the "Just 5 More Minutes" category? Why is GTA5 in the "Game Within A Game" category?

If Skyrim or Terraria, both relatively new games, wins Test of Time instead of Age of Empires II, then I would just feel disappointed.

Terraria being called relatively new when it was made around 5 years ago sounds weird.

Relatively new compared to the rest of the other games.

Terraria is 5 years old.

Skyrim is 5 years old.

Civilization V is 6 years old.

Team Fortress 2 is 10 years old. The original QTF is 21 years old.

Age of Empires II is 18 years old. Older than most of the nominators of Steam Awards.

If it went on age alone sure, but it doesn't.

" This award is for the game that is just as good today as the day you first played it. Newer games may come out, but it doesn’t matter… you’ll always come back to play this one. "

Age of Empires II doesn't fit that for me. Thus I'm not going to vote for it.

Basically, an award that says that the game I vote for is the game that I think has stood the test of time. I voted for Terraria, because I still have fond memories of playing it when I was much younger, and I still think it holds up well whenever I go back to play it. If you, @JohnWatson, would prefer to vote for something else, I'm not going to stop you. Who am I to say what game you should vote for?

@TheKingDedede Well, you don't seem to be voting out of popularity but rather because you feel the game fits the category, I think that's fine. I actually didn't vote for AOE II myself, I voted for TF2 because it's a game that's so old and no matter how long I stop playing it, I will still always come back to it.

Though, considering the internet, Skyrim would most likely win just out of popularity, despite being the youngest game on the list.
