My hopes and thoughts on the new pets poster.

Recommended Posts

They said that you wouldn't need to reset your world for any update. So the Bee Queen being a setpiece or not isn't a problem.

Also, they are speculating that the Bee Queen will be like a Spider Queen for bees, that make sense, right? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

My hope is that their will be sheep and baby sheep x3 and fences with gates so I can be a farmer XD

And pets that can help me out oo and would love to have a companion with me on day one XD

Maybe cow for milk

The queen bee oo I see a war bee vs spider

PLS add chickens and maybe foxes oo need more mobs and animals in game

Well this thread sure got derailed pretty quickly. Kinda funny actually. Just a simple question asking about the next update suddenly turned into a suggestions thread.

It's become Tradition.

I guess this is the right place for posting predictions and expectations for the update?
Bee queen: I'm hoping this wont be another raid boss but will instead be one that can appear when people don't expect it or aren't prepared for it. In single player ds, all the bosses (expect for the guardian) are usually a threat to the player while in dst, some were just turned into raid bosses or made less harmful, so the deerclops is the only giant that really becomes a problem in dst like all giants used to in ds. Don't get me wrong I like the new raid bosses and they're a lot of fun, but getting a new boss that doesn't have to be summoned and appears and roams around on its own would be nice.
Marble shrub: Not much to say about this one, having a renewable source of marble that doesn't require waiting in the caves for ages just to get a little bit is nice.
Fences and gates: Finally getting actual gates instead of having to attack and repair a hay wall over and over is really nice. Also fences will probably look better around a beefalo pen than rock walls.
Pets: Seems like a pretty nice feature. I'm hoping they'll take less effort to get than domesticating a beefalo and just have something like a small sanity aura and also that we can actually keep them save from things like hound attacks and giants unlike my multiple attempts at letting a smallbird grow up. Also maybe they'll add more baby animals than what we saw on the poster since adding a baby to a hostile and rarely encountered creature like the ewecus but not to ones like koalefants seems weird. I'm guessing if we get a pet system maybe creatures like smallbirds and baby beefalos will be changed as well to be tameable or their taming mechanics will be changed to tie them into the pet mechanic.

I dunno. Maybe you kill the Queen Bee, you get its head and you can have command over Bees for a short while.

Slap Honey onto a hive to turn into a Tier 3 hive or something...

The Queen fights by making more Bees to attack players...

Well. that's all I've got. I can't abuse my psychic powers for small stuff like this.

I'm hoping that the Queen Bee is similar to the Spider Queen in that it drops honeycomb on death. Judging by its design, it seems quite possible. This would make honeycomb a renewable resource, which would be nice for making massive bee farms.

Like Michi01 commented, another endgame raid-style boss whole loot has few practical uses would be a bit underwhelming in my eyes.

Well I think that Bee Queen will act like Hounds. Occational bee swarms at players led by the queen (during spring most likely cause bees go on heat in that time)

I doubt it'll be like Spider queen, I hope it's something unique and fun.

Bee queen is better be a bit challenging were it has a special attack where it uses bees as projectiles and shoots them in a circle or bees protecting her kinda like Leaf shield from Mega man 2 but then I legit farmed my honey and stingers just by using spider dens and killer bee hives

I hope the pets are domesticated and friendly once fully grownI don't know how we're getting said pets, likely from the parents I presume. It's likely that these animals are gonna be mid or late game acquired, unless you wanna waste your time with domestication early(if that's even in the system). Any chance we can obtain different skins for our pets or possibly give them items to change the appearance or abilities that they may have? Because it'll just be a bunch of the same exact looking pets everywhere once players get their hands on them.

The Fences are cool, I wonder if it'll be more reliable then the ones we currently have or require more resources just to craft them?

Making your own marble, No problems here!

A Bee Queen, I hope it's like the spider queen but at the same time, I wouldn't mind it being a random attacker like the DeerClops

I also hope that :)

There are some strange speech lines in the codes, which didn't actually make sence, like:

ANNOUNCE_BEES = "BEEEEEEEEEEEEES!!!!" - Wilson

, so will Charlie introduce the bee attack? That would be great! :D

Furthermore, as the bee queen will fly (that would be logical), I guess it won't be slow... although I hope it won't be as fast as the dragonfly.

Actually that line is used when hammering a bee mine don't ask me why I know that

Really??? Quite a pity... I was searching so hard to find if that line was already used for something.

But we still can have bee attacks, I hope.

And at least I learnt something new.

EDIT: Confirmed. I guess I know why you knew that... :D

I never thought bee mines can be hammered.

My first hope is that we do not have to regen day 400 bases for the pets. I think more taming is a good idea for people who solo dst like me. Lastly, I hope the queen bee is like a krampus for bees, and not a set piece for regening. DSTupdate_cutefuzzyanimals.png

I wanna train my hound-pup to be a murderous savage to aid me in pvp.

I wonder if new pets are more like lavae (static) or like smallbirds (grow)?

I am certain that the bee queen will spawn from natural beehive. In the teaser you can see her bursting out of one, serving as her thorax. The question is, will she be mobile or stationary?

Her role will, probably, be same as spider queen: giving us a renewable honeycomb. There is a possibility of new item related to her.
