Banned from a Server. Is there any solution?

Recommended Posts

PolarBeer, most people on this board are kind and friendly and are willing to help as much as they can. But in order to help you, you need to provide more information about the server you want to contact the admin to un-banned you. Such as:

1. Which region does this dedicated server named "Abusement Park" located at?

People on this webboard are from all over the world, and not everyone will know/ever see the server that you want to join. For example, I live in SEA (South East Asia) and I have never see the dedicated server named "Abusement Park" before. So I assumed it's not in my region. But then if I were to try to help you, knowing only the server's name is not enough. If people know where this server's located, some people who play in that area might be able to help you contact the admin.

It's like if you said you want to go to Japan, and ask us how to go there, but then do not tell us where you are. Then how can we tell you which airline you should take, how much budget would it take, ect.?

2. Do you remember the admin's name in the game? Or anyone's name in that server when you were banned? Or does this server has a steam group?

As GalloViking said, your Steam name is the same as your in-game name. So if you remember his/her name in the game, you might be able to contact him/her via steam.

If you remember the admin's in-game name, or the name of any other players who play on the server, then you could try to search their name via steam's add friend feature.

Step by step about how to find people's profile and add friend on steam:

1.) Log in on your steam account.

2.) In the tool bar menu at the top, select [Friends] and then [Add a friend].

3.) Type the name of the user or group you are looking for.

4.) Look for the exact person you need.

5.) Go to their profile and leave a message for them to un-banned you (if that person is the admin), or ask them to contact the admin for you (if that person is just a normal player on that server.)

But if the name you search is the common name, you might have a hard time to find the person you want.

Also, if you havn't play game via steam since you were banned from that server, (which I don't think you do, as you said you were banned almost a month ago), you might find the admin's name via:

[Your steam user name] >> [Friends] >> [Recently Played With].

Which will show you the name of the users on the last game/server you were play with, even though they are not on your friend list.

3. I'm not sure about this, but isn't ohhaithere the admin of the server you want to join? Judging from his quote, it sound like he's the admin of that server.

I won't remove the ban. You are a gigantic idiot, and I don't like shitty Webbers in my server, only noobs use that character.

If ohhaithere is really the admin of the "Abusement Park" server, then I think it's not wise for you to call him useless. It will not paint you in the good light in his eyes.

And the useless comment who is not here to help me contact to them "I would not accept you" XD. Then I am sorry but I have to remind you that you are nothing to that server that I am trying to contact to.

(In fact, I don't think it's not wise to call anyone who reply to you as 'useless' at all. They are trying to help by using their time to type reply to your post, you should be more polite about how you reply back to them even though the answer might not be the one you want. It's good manner to do so.)

4. Have you try posting on other Don't Starve's forum for help?

This forum is the main forum for DST, but there's also the steam's DST forum too. If you can't find your answer here, maybe you'll have more luck there.

(But I think you should try talking with ohhaithere first, to see if he's really the admin of that server. And if he really is, then I believe you should give up on joining that server. Because it's obvious that he despise you and will not un-banned you. But this is just my opinion.)

Sorry for long reply. Hope it could be of any help to you. If not, then... well, I have tried my best. (*shrug*)

10 of the webbers sucks in your server huh.. 100% okay.. it's probably because they all want to join your camp but it's filled with pigs. lmao.

Webbers are good to be with. Easy meat, silks, and glands. They can also be a master of many spiders hahahah.

Just tell them where to put the Den then it's all set.

What you hate are not spiders. You hate noobs. All of us hate noobs. Even noobs hate noobs. :-)

But when someone said that.. he started as winter.. he saw your camp.. no one is helping.. are you even the admin? tsk tsk tsk

EDIT: @ohaithere

10 of the webbers sucks in your server huh.. 100% okay.. it's probably because they all want to join your camp but it's filled with pigs. lmao.

That's not always the case, but if there are pigs in the camp, a Webber should not stay there like an idiot, burn a forest. die, and cry all over the place. He can go and make his own base, or he can leave the server. But, guess what? They prefer to stay in the camp and get their asses kicked by the pigs.

Anyway, as applebottom said, I am the admin and I won't remove the ban because this guy is stupid. I think the only possible outcome is to close this thread and let this dude learn his lesson. If the Mods want proof that I am the admin, just request it and I'll provide it.

Webber is in such a strange place at the moment.. He is arguably one of the strongest characters and if you play him right you have unlimited food/healing salves/protection all year. He's an incredibly easy starter character because he spawns with an infinite food machine. But yet so many webber players suck beyond all belief! It's such a strange thing to see but it's true.

  • Noobs / Decent players +
  • Wilson: 50/50
  • Willow: 70/30
  • Wolfgang: 20/80
  • Wendy: 40/60
  • WX-78: 90/10
  • Wickerbooty: 1/99
  • Woodie: Too early to say.
  • Wes: 1/99
  • Wigfrid: 90/10
  • Webber: 99/1

It's such a waste too. Webber can be so good but for some bizarre reason they just attract noobs, maybe they're all just sick of dying to spiders?

I think one of the reason there're so many noobs Webber is because most of them never play RoG before.

And I admit, I'm one of those players.

I only have standard Don't Starve, no RoG.

When I first try DST, I was very excited to try these new characters I never had a chance to try before. And Webber is a character that looks very interesting to play as. Of course I choose to try playing as him.

You can guess what happened next. (I'm sorry for not being credit to team in that playthough.) ;_;

Wigfrid, on the other hand, is a lot easier and noob-friendly than Webber. At least for me.

And in the end, I just try to avoid playing as Webber until I can buy my own RoG and pratice solo so I will not be a burden to people in DST. Or find an endless server to try praticing playing as him somewhere far away in the map. (Still not good playing as him, though...)

You can host your own server in DST and play alone, if you're conscious about being a burden. But don't be discouraged. Trying new things is fun! Webber is just a totally different playstyle. It requires unlearning previous techniques. Things that you used to gravitate to like pigs become your enemies and the previously avoided spiders and monster meat become your tools.

You're free to try new things. Just like admins are free to impose rules on their own server. Don't be discouraged when you die. There are hundreds of open servers, you'll always find one that will be more suited to your style.

  • Wolfgang: 5/95
  • Webber: 100/0

Fixed :3

And Webber is a character that looks very interesting to play as.

As in physical appearance? He looks ridiculous with those stupid-looking teeth. And he looks even more stupid while sleeping. Or as in concept?

Any character can be a burden. I've seen a Wilson die to a catcoon early autumn on the NY pvp server. Another catcoon killed two more players shortly after (WX-78 & Wickerbottom). A Woodie that joined in was killed by a beefalo. Lucy was his preferred weapon of choice. I revived him and he was killed again by the same beefalo. A Wigfrid attempting to kill me as Webber was killed by a clockwork bishop. I had the pan flute but didn't want to waste the durability on another player. Lead her to a bishop and just ran in a circle. She was eventually orbed to death and I picked up her meat/spear and continued picking grass. People can be terrible on any character.

Webber isn't a problem. How people use him (or any character) is the problem.

@ PolarBeer - All you can do is learn form your mistakes and find a new sever. There are many available.

You can host your own server in DST and play alone, if you're conscious about being a burden. But don't be discouraged. Trying new things is fun! Webber is just a totally different playstyle. You're right! I usually don't have much time to play so I forgot that I can host my own server and lock it to try pratice alone. Thank you very much for reminding me, applebottom! <3

As in physical appearance? He looks ridiculous with those stupid-looking teeth. And he looks even more stupid while sleeping. Or as in concept?

Both.

In physical appearance, I always like the look of spiders in this game. They look like a fuzzy black ball of hurt with half-blank-half-derp expression and long sharp teeth. Their eating and sleeping animation are also look very silly and cute.

Come on, just look at them...

Aww... <3

(I draw them myself, maybe looks bad. Sorry about that.)

And he's also interesting in concept, too.

  • Amass a ridiculous amount of spider follower and have my own personal army. (Just don't mis-click!)
  • With special type like a spider warrior too! (Can't do this with pigs, guardian pig and werepig won't help and pig king just don't care)
  • And if cave content comes I might have other kind of spiders as part of my follower, yay!
  • Can eat monster meat and monster lasanga with no problem
  • Can stay side by side with mini-boss like spider queen! (as long as you don't anger her)
  • Grow silk on my own face! Anyone want silk? I have lots to spare! Here, let me make a top hat and a tent for you <3

It's too bad I'm just not good at this game and cannot play as him good. (T^T)

Any character can be a burden to other people. I've seen a Wilson die to a catcoon early autumn on the NY pvp server. Another catcoon killed two more players shortly after (WX-78 & Wickerbottom).

Webber isn't a problem. How certain people use him is a problem.

This is true.

I tend to mis-click when trying to make my personal spider army attack enemy, though. So it's my noobish about maintaining and controlling followers that's a problem, not the character's fault.

Edit: @ PolarBeer - Yup, I think you better give up about being un-banned, and go find other server to play. Sorry about that.

If you hate Webber that much, why don't you just console command Webber players back to the character selection screen?

Webber is in such a strange place at the moment.. He is arguably one of the strongest characters and if you play him right you have unlimited food/healing salves/protection all year. He's an incredibly easy starter character because he spawns with an infinite food machine.

Not to mention above average health and hunger.

It's such a waste too. Webber can be so good but for some bizarre reason they just attract noobs, maybe they're all just sick of dying to spiders?

I think the thing about him is people look at him and go "I can play as a monster?!" and they pick him up before they really understand some of the basic mechanics of the game (like how to cook, restore sanity with clothes, fighting, armor, etc). I mean, he certainly stands out a lot just for his appearance.

I mean, if you're new, you're new. You're expected to die a lot. I think that Webber's unique appearance is something that attracts new players.

I don't think you fully understand that part of the joy and challenge of Don't Starve is that sometimes everything burns down.

I personally hate sitting in base with nothing to do, and I've always liked having to set up a base. Every now and then, I just let people burn it down. It makes it harder. And that's the joy of it.

Personally, which is really all that matters for my servers, I kind of feel like griefing is an expected part of the game on any Survival server.  You're all going to die eventually anyway, griefers are just another challenge to overcome, like Deerclops.  Griefers spawn more often than Deerclopse does, and they have crappy drops in comparison as well.  But they're just part of the game.

In Wilderness servers I feel more compelled to stop griefing, or use a rollback to reverse it.  You will totally get banned from my Wilderness server if I catch you griefing there (or if someone I trust reports you), on my Survival server, meh, I probably don't care.

I fear I have no feelings whatsoever for griefing on Endless servers.  I don't run one, and don't really play on them either.  Maybe they should be like Wilderness and be anti-griefer, or maybe "whatever, it's Endless".

You are a noob. A scrub.

just say it. He is a fkuin casul and a console peasant. PRAISE THE SUN.

@BlindGunner, @WillPwn4Food and @TinyLittleNobody(specially you), have some imaginary likes, cuz I'm all out of them right now. Edit: Well I just got some, so you can have both physical likes and imaginary ones.

Webber is nice. I suck at Webber and Webber is hard. But when I Webber well, I do great.

@ohhaithere, You're a jolly ol' chap, aren't you?

@PolarBeer,I recommend you try another server. I've already heard some comments about this "Abusement fire pit or whatever" server and all of the comments from this admin seem only to confirm what I've heard. This does not look like a friendly place.

I won't remove the ban. You are a gigantic idiot, and I don't like shitty Webbers in my server, only noobs use that character.

xufbDXz.gif

Seriously, dude, you need to calm down. If he wants to play as Webber, let him play as Webber. Besides, you can just type c_despawn(AllPlayers[number]) in the console and make him change to a different character if you don't want him playing as Webber. And the base burning down was an honest mistake. As Weirdo said, everything burns down sometimes.

Not just noobs use Webber by the way. Many experienced players can handle him properly.

just say it. He is a fkuin casul and a console peasant.

Yay! A Souls reference! Ok, I will only insult TS one more time, because this reference was nice and lowered my Malice Meter.

Guys, I never said I don't embrace griefers. It's true that after you are settled, the game gets really easy and it's a nice touch of chaos if a God Wolfgang, or a Saint Wickerbottom, comes and burns your base and then leaves laughing at you. I can like that. What I can't stand are idiots (there, last insult for TS, and only because I'm in Nice Mode because of Souls) like TS. And sure enough, that idiot comes in Webber form. A griefer that burns things on purpose, I can accept him. A tonto that does the same damage as a griefer but by mistake (and always a Webber, what a surprise), not so much.

* I have to admit I played Demon's Souls on PS3 tho.

You are just too cute and nice, man. I can't bring myself to argue with you.

I hope people realise that this guy... well... isn't the sharpest knife in the drawer (as in, he is really, really, stupid, and would be nice if he could stop existing). You are a noob. A scrub. Whatever. And what do you mean with 'them'? Are you so thick that you can't see that 'them' is ME. I won't remove your ban because you are tonto. Capisce?

Lol i am sure you are the best player lmao anyways. Do not wanna argue with somebody who judges people without any idea or  people who choose webber. And you are really abusive. I hope somebody warns you in this site for that language.

You are nothing for that server. So your opinion is also nothing.

"In order to convince the administrator of a server, we have to piss him off."

Masterful rhetoric.

Unfortunately, it won't be possible to un-idiotize PolarBeer (even this name he came up with is absurdly stupid- and I'm sure he drowns in his own drooling while priding himself over it), so, I guess there's nothing that can be done to convince me.

A lot of people have really odd usernames, myself, and you included.
