I am very dissapointed in you, Klei.  What a crummy ending to an otherwise awesome puzzle.

I don't get it, you're dissapointed in the fact that DS is getting mutliplayer? or the puzzle's conclusion ?

Because both of which are absolutely mind blowing and awesome, so I'm guessing you're against the idea of mutliplayer in the game.

Awesome news! I would love to play DS with other people online  Just think about it. One person takes care of food and the other bulding supplies. Uber cool!

Was it officially confirmed that the multiplayer will be cooperative?

i'm just feeling this game will become easy ...

So ok...you still playing ur single-player,but who likes multiplayer, plays multiplayer

sry guys,i don't speak english very well(DON'T SPEAK WELL TO WELL.UNDERSTAND?)

Well, I'm upset. I didn't expected this new, but I still was hoping to not see this happen since the puzzle came out.
For me isn't only a matter of gameplay or balancing, I think about the software house policy. Since I saw Don't Starve I truly loved it, not only because of the great game it was (and still is, grown better and better), but also for the philosophy behind it. With Don't Starve I found a game somehow old school, a simple yet really thorough game, a rare gem between games spawning pointless dlcs (skin packs, recycled production cuts, all kind of stuff sold for its weight in gold), when Don't Starve periodically came out with updates full of wonders. FREE wonders. This has always been amazing to me.
Today it seems that a game needs a social aspect in his gameplay to be complete. I don't think so.
I like how the Don't Starve community has always been bound WITHOUT multiplayer. Is sufficient to take a look atthis forum: all the feedbacks, the advice filled discussions, the cooperation to solve puzzles and to find hidden messages...

I admit to be a quite solitary gamer, of course. But I anyway played games like World of Warcraft, Guild Wars, Starcraft, Unreal Tournament... I think that some games are made to be multiplayer, and other don't.
I always thought that Don't Starve wasn't. I appreciated so much the strong dev's position about multiplayer and I was in peace.
Klei, I still love you, I still love your game, but let me say it: I disagree with this decision. The only thing I hope (and wherein I trust) is that Don't Starve Togheter will make me think again about my position.
Since then, i'm happy for all who expected this multiplayer to come and I sincerely wish you good job. For me, in this moment, Klei is like a beloved son taking a road that I believe being wrong, and I can only hope the things will show that the only wrong thing was this my thought.

If the picture of a person standing in a portal was an ok payoff to the week or so we spent on the puzzle, I'd understand why you are excited.  BUT IT'S NOT.

Read the post, if you already own the game it's free.

First of all, if you already own the game, it's going to be free (see the OP)

Also, no one will ever force you to buy anything, so there is no point in raging about it. If you don't want multiplayer, don't get multiplayer, it's as simple as that! =)

Battal, I concur, quite heavily. What happened the last time there was a puzzle nearly this convuluted, huh?

Have read the entire thread? if not, you better not make a fool out of yourself.

I enjoy the stand Klei made agaisnt Multiplayer but we all knew it was coming to the DS world whether vanilla or modded. Gaming has evolved from a guy playing a video game all night just by himself to the whole family playing. Klei decided to evolve into the final beautiful butterfly form.  I spit upon the people who think Klei is doing this just to earn more money as they supplied us with what they promises from the beginning, a year of free updates. If you don't like the concept of multiplayer in Don't Starve, get off this thread, betend this never happend, and continue playing single player. Joe said it so simple in the OP. If you don't like multiplayer you don't have to play it, it's optional. Same thing with Reign of Giants. So I hope to see after this post that instead of people complaining about multiplayer we only see posts that talk good upon it. (Or atleast if you complain do it with intelligence) Anyways rant done.

So trying to solve that puzzle was something we're doing to get a payoff out of it? no, solving the puzzle or trying to, was a fun experience for all of us, I enjoyed it, sure I failed at finding something of interest, but I did what I could, I've contributed to solving it, so did many other people.

The fun of the puzzles is not knowing where we're going, making speculations, and communicating together, if it turned out to be something other than what we thought is the right thing, for me at least, that's absolutely amazing, quite literally, Amazing, surprising, fascinating.

We were a 100% percent sure that mutliplayer will never come out in Don't Starve, we had our hints, "Alone, not alone" "Alone, and together" but we didn't even THINK, in the slightest, of any possibly of this puzzle having something to do with multiplayer.

Was it like the last puzzle? where we waited about 2 weeks, and downloaded a mod, played it, solved the morse code, Exordium'ed ourselves, and found that last missing piece of what exactly happened, in the grand finale? no, was this Puzzle fun tho? HELL YES, I didn't even think we'd get another puzzle, so I'm glad we did, (not trying to silver line anything in here btw) cuz it was an overall fun experience, and to feel the rush of HYPE and EXCITEMENT again, it's a good feeling.

This one was a bit different, and it's better off to be different, sure Klei could have made the puzzle a bit more interesting at the end there but all in all we would've gotten the same conclusion, Don't Starve Together.

Uh, hey. This is my first actual post on the forums, but I've been lurking on here for quite some time.

Disregard my comment if you wish.

I understand the general disappointment in some of you, and the justifiable anger due to past statements, but I think that people might be getting too worked up over this.

Some of you don't want multiplayer, and that's fine- no one is making anyone PLAY with other people; the game itself hasn't changed (as far as I know), so everyone can enjoy themselves the same way as before.

I personally think that multiplayer could be an exciting new addition to Don't Starve, and am looking forward to how it turns out. I think that people will warm up to the idea more in the coming weeks, but for now, I really don't think it's worth some of your anger. It shouldn't be that big of a deal, it's all just for fun, isn't it?

I actually like the idea although I'm not sure how it would work..... if i play multi player we all share one world right? so if i log off, the other three could just build, chop, burn down things while I'm not there? and what about death? is it still perma death? sounds fun though if you want to just play with friends and such. but my single player game will always be # 1.
