That was actually our original title! Ultimately we changed it 'cause it was a bit confusing if "Don't Starve Alone" meant "do be alone but don't starve" or if it meant "don't be alone and don't starve".

With the current title, I wondered whether meant "Starve, But Not Together", or "Don't Starve, and be Together".

So I guess confusion is unavoidable.

@JoeW, @JanH, @Wade, @SethR, and all the rest of the Klei gang

This is a direct quote from a developer I work with (if any of my coworkers visit these forums, go ahead and give me "the nod" tomorrow, you'll know who I am):

Don't let The Good be the enemy of The Perfect

That ideology has made me consciously and forcibly stop myself from committing murder on a regular basis. One of the things I love about each and every one of you at Klei is that you hold true to your vision. What I see from you is that The Good *IS* the enemy of The Perfect, and I couldn't be more grateful to you for it.

You gave us an incredible single-player game, and kept your resources focused on fixing bugs, enhancing player experience, and even revamped and introduced content from player feedback for months. "Good" wasn't enough, you aimed and continue to aim for "Perfect". Did you implement every suggestion? No. Is that OK? Absolutely! This game is yours, and like it or not, the customer is not always right.

Then you gave us optional DLC. You still keep resources devoted to your original game, while also taking on a huge project that has provided even more new content. This is no small feat for a company, indie or public, especially in such a short amount of time. True to style, you kept your vision of DS in clear focus, while fixing bugs and taking player feedback into consideration along the way. Has every suggestion been put into the game? No. Is that OK? Yes. You are the creators.

Now you've reached a new level at your company. You've expanded, you have additional resources, and now you can work on introducing new content that you didn't have the ability to even consider, let alone work on, before. Something your customers are split right down the middle on, but offers you both product and brand growth, ensuring your future success and more amazing creations. DS Multiplayer.

I'm excited (despite my lack of exclamation points all over the place!!!!!!!!!). Whether I chose to go the multiplayer route or not, I have absolute trust and faith in you that you'll continue to hold to your standards and commitments, and your vision of DS will remain true. You've shown me nothing less. I'm happy for you that you've grown, and am eager to see where all of you decide to go with this new chapter.

I'm also excited for all the fans out there who have really, really wanted multiplayer - they've felt that this could add an entirely new dimension to their gameplay, and haven't wavered on their support of it. Now they see your vision and theirs coming to life, and it makes me happy to see this collaboration becoming a reality.

Oh my... Your justification for no multiplayer I always happily accepted, and it was a very valid argument... In my eyes you certainly have achieved the goal of creating this amazing single player experience! Anything from here can only get better!
I have to much excitement to contain! Thanks Klei!

i need to post one more, im currently having a freaking toast with my friends in indonesia, but yeah its an survival game, please add the feature permanent death, maybe rescuable(like in single mode if have the made the statue) by friend, but if all the friends are dead, thats it.

dont let anger and pride stay for too long, it shifts your priority, makes you forget what really matters and leave u with nothing but regrets. have fun guys.

im very proud that in the other edge of the world, there is still guys like u, it doesn't mean that you guys break your promise, it will be the same as long as permanent death is there. the thing is how would u guys implement it., it would be a totally great hit.

cant wait summer, will be our best summer too.

Hm, so since the puzzle has nothing to do with background story like always. Can any devs around tell me which character is the shadows in The Way puzzle? I'm really curious about that. (Especially it looks a lot like my fan characters ha ha) I think they should be characters we already know because Klei aren't going to add MP characters anyways. My big guess is Wendy. But am I right?

Whilst i am for the most part a single player kind of guy, i'm pretty psyched about this news. But what i'm wondering is will the teleportato be changed for the purpose of multiplayer or entirely removed? Because i think having a string of generated worlds that you can travel to through teleportatos would be a great idea, and when i say string i mean from each teleportato you can access 'adjacent' worlds, so as to give exploration and 'personal space' whilst still keeping the world generation the same. Also is the portal featured in 'the way' actually going to be a feature or was that just for the grand reveal? Is that portal going to replace the teleportato in multiplayer? I have so many questions, can't wait until we can learn more about how this multiplayer will be. :D

How many players can play together?

We’ll see. We believe that Don’t Starve Together will support 2-4 players simultaneously. Could be more, but we are aiming for 4 minimum.

I hope you meant to say you're aiming for 4 maximum, considering you said 2-4 just before that. I've had little interest in multiplayer until recently, with the xpac and a good friend getting the game. But I only really care about 2 player co-op. A 4 minimum would mean no 2 or 3 player games.
