Hey people, I wasn't here in the General Discussion in a while, but I just wanted to know what you guys think about the four Bosses in Don't Starve

Well, here's my opinion about them:

My favourite Boss Monster is the Treeguard. Why? He's not to hard, but he's still able to look impressive and he isn't actually such a bad guy when you think about it! And he's also the first Boss Monster ever in Don't Starve

My least favourite Boss Monster is the Ancient Guardian. He's just a bigger mammal version of the Rook, and it's pretty boring to fight against him :/

I think the hardest Boss is the Deerclops (Not really surprising, eh?) He has a big range, he deals a lot of damage and he can destroy buildings!

And?

What do you Guys think about the Bosses?

(And sorry if my Grammar isn't so good at some parts, english is not my first language)

the deerclops is my favorite boss because I think his design is amazing and although it's very cartoony when put into a more realistic setting it's probably the most terrifying creature in the entire game despite what most people seem to think

and hearing him roaring in the distance during winter and seeing the screen shake when he's close still terrifies me even after playing as much as I have

my least favorite is the spider queen because I have a severe phobia of spiders and just seeing her sets me off most of the time

the hardest boss in my opinion is the deerclops but that's probably just because I tend to go without armor any time I'm fighting and it's nerve-wracking to try to get the kiting right and I usually mess up the timing because of this

My favorite boss is the Spider Queen.  In any other case it would be generic, but I will never forget the moment when the spider nest I was attacking turned into a hideous boss mob.  I think the design is awesome as well, and she has a good range of attacks.

My least favorite boss is the Ancient Guardian, and that's simply because it was just so...unfullfilling.  You've battled your way through the nightmare-ridden Ruins, struggled through the puzzling Labyrinth, and now for the final showdown!  Here it comes!...   ...A fuzzy rhino?  I'll admit, the fight is pretty fun and challenging.  But I had to choose a least favorite, and this was it.

The toughest boss is Deerclops.  Hands down.  He tests a lot of your skills - sanity management, preparation, kiting, and many more.  Not to mention that you're also probably going to be freezing, unless you fight him in your camp.  I remember when he came in my first winter.  That was a short-lived world.

Least favorite is Spider Queen. Not because she's a bad boss or anything. Like Battal said, she's very nicely designed and a good boss. But I don't like her gameplay-wise because if you leave your spider nests alone THESE THINGS ARE EVERYWHERE

Favorite boss is probably Treeguard. He's simple, he's a nice design, he was the first boss, and you can manipulate him to your ways. He can scare the living crap out of you, and appear at the worst times.

Toughest boss? Deerclops, obviously. He wrecks your base, lots of health, lots of damage, and he can ALSO appear at the worst times. I can't say anything about Ancient Guardian because I've never faced him.

Treeguard is like an old friend. The first to come at you when the game was still a babee. I like the old guy.

Deerclops is is for me the least favorite and also most hard one because he is a killing machine and I find it a good choice to leave him alone rather then fighting him. The others I can kill comparatively easy (hand to hand/claw/horn/pine needles) but with him I haven't as nearly as much luck in the past. (this doesn't make him bad, just the boss a like less)

Interesting struggle for me to decide (and my vote may change AGAIN when the DLC comes out if you update this,) but I decided as such:

My fav is the Deerclops for the challenge but nearly my least fav for his structure bashing, (the d*** :)) Since he's a tough opponent that really requires strategy, is not simply a swarm answer to something (yet again,) and offers a reward that makes a powerful weapon, I went with him.

Others are just too easy, too copied from something else or too, repetitive.

So while I almost chose the Ancient Guardian for its virtually boring to the max ripoff of the Rook, I went with the Spider Queen. She multiplies too quickly, simply uses a swarm tactic and the reward just isn't worth it (and she leaves in a day if left alone; what kind oif BOSS is that?!) Sorry Lord_Battal.

Even that written, I don't consider her the hardest, that again goes to Deary.

my favourite is spider queen, i just like the design really, the spider nest spreading mechanic and the "sit at the back spewing out spiders" tactic.

Least favourite is deerclops because his behaviour is not something i could intuitively understand - After my first run in with deerclops i was worried to leave base for to long in winter in case deerclops stumbled across it when i wasnt there to defend it - i now know that he doesnt work like this (quite the opposite) but only because i've searched forums and stuff for info, not because i was able to work it out from playing.

Hardest i have to say ancient gaurdian, since i have never killed it. (he smashed me last night on my first ever attempt). I dont find deerclops too difficult anymore  so long as you have ranged weapons its easy enough after you get over the initial "oh my god that thing is huge" panic phase

I don't have much of an opinion when it comes to "favourite" or "hardest".  Even though the Ancient Guardian is based off of my favourite enemy, I've never set foot in the ruins. see no real point after the worms were added

I will say my least favourite boss is the Treegaurd.  They spawn too randomly for my taste.  You can get scenarios when you can chop down 50 trees in one sitting and none spawn or plant 40 pine cones then chop down a tree and two spawn.  They are not hard to deal with just tanky and repetitive.  It's just gotten to the point where i'm just annoyed whenever I need to chop down trees for the chance of those ugly disruptive butts showing up.

Deerclops just has some strange inconsistencies.  You can hear his roar from once too your character commenting on it ... and then just not show up, but sometimes you can just wake up one morning (even if it's technically summer on default) and he's stomping towards your base.  With some correct pre-planning (which best avoids getting up in his grill too often) he can be taken down easily.

Spider Queen is just the easiest to monitor and avoid.

Deerclops was easy to beat with firestaff and spear, but treeguards, I always spend so much time grinding them to death >_>

Really, even with Ham Bats and higher (not fire) weapons?

Even if I don't kite/use additional help, they don't seem to last that long, I use other enemies/pine cone pacification for them as my "Where the &^%^*#^ are the *(^&&*^*& hound's teeth drops for my tooth traps?!" pre-defense until I finally get enough teeth around 60+ days for a death zone.

Then the Puppies can play with them for all I care :p

My favorite one is the Deerclops. His roar is very scary. Even after many hours playing, he still is quite a challenge. And his ability to destroy things is what makes he worth fighting or it could follow you to that perfectly calculated base and smash it to the ground.

But he is not the hardest,on my opinion. I find the Ancient Guardian much stronger than deerclops. He's SO FAST! I had to spend tons of armor and health/sanity restoring itens to put that beast down.

My least favorite is the Treeguard. It doesn't really gives a reason to fight. He's more of an ally than enemy. You can easily put him somewhere far from your tree farm and pacify it with pinecones and then use it to fight against hounds, for example. His drops aren't unique either. On my opinion, the totally normal trees shoudn't drop Living logs.

My favorite is the Deerclops because no other boss gets me as excited and engaged. I also find him to be the hardest because judging his attack radius can be a bit hard.

My least favorite boss is the ancient guardian, but he's not a bad boss. It's just that... well the other bosses before it were fairly unique in their mechanics and look, while the Ancient Guardian really isn't unique in it's mechanics nor in it's look.

My favourite boss is the Treeguard. I don't know why. Just whenever I see him, it brings back memories. And he gives me delicious living logs.

Least favourite is the Ancient Guardian. Despite the mini heart attack I had when he chased me into the ruins and had forgot my walking cane, he's just too bland.

Most difficult for me is the spider queen. Her swarm tactic may be familiar but before the Hambat got buffed, dealing with her meant an inventory full of spears and log suits

Hey everyone.

I've been reading this forum for quite a while, but never really bothered to make a post. This topic though I felt would be a great one to officially join the forums :)

My favourite boss is Treeguard, because it was the first boss that scared the hell out of me while I was innocently chopping down trees in my first ever world. And now on day 400 with WX-78 I have a Treeguard national park outside my base :)

My least favorite is the Spider Queen. Basically she just gets in the way of my everyday activities when I'm out in the fields.

Most difficult for me is Deerclops. Amazingly though I've seen him once in 400 days, but for me Deepclops seems to pop up at the worst times for me, when I'm low on sanity or under prepared for battle. Fighting Deerclops, managing sanity, staying warm and protecting my infrastructure is the ultimate test.

Should note the Ancient Guardian is a close second for most difficult having just faced him for the first time. He crushed my log suit and brought me to 5 health before I ran away back to my ruins base before feasting on some fish sticks and returning with some better gear to finish the job!! :)

interesting results heh

Treeguards are just too easy once u learn how to dodge and hit.

the only annoying thing about spider queens is right before they are about to die if u back off of them, they will plant themselves into the ground as a tier 1 spider nest and you cant reap the rewards of the encounter.

I just had a deerclops destroy my fort and then a 10 hound atk almost right after in middle of winter, was quite frustrating, so deerclops is currently higher than guardian on my list of toughest.

My favorite is the Spider Queen. That thing is awesome! It also brings back memories of when I let the Queen's Gathering sit too long. At the end of the day not that hard, provided you have an ice staff, spike, and jerky, but still really fun. I honestly haven't ever used the spider hat despite the several Queens I have slain. I hear it is good for tough fights, but I see that it looks nice on display.

Least favorite is the Treeguard (Leif). Nothing wrong with it besides the endless kiting of a level 3 one, but now the boss is pointless due to the Totally Normal Tree. No good memories from my 1st encounter, as I knew of it's excistence,

Hardest is Deerclops. Always put him on more, but only fought him once, and he made me rebuild all 15 drying racks plus the lower half of my base. Only encounter with our furry rhino friend was using a mod character to get there then getting 1-hit. Honestly not enough experience to make a fair call between the two, so I chose the one that I had actually fought. Queen and Leif are too easy.

Deerclops has and remains my favorite boss. I didn't know about it until my first winter. I was happily making my base and minding my own business and I hear that stomping in the background. I thought it was a huge hound attack at first and ran to a herd of beefalo for protection. I could only was in confused horror as my base was demolished and I eventually killed myself with monster meat because I was too focused on my stomach than my health.

I freaken hate the hard spider queens though. If I'm going to die by a monster, it's by them and their endless swarm of minions. I don't want to burn them since I want the resources and it's a true test of patience to weaken the numbers when I kill a single spider per 3 minutes.

On another note, I find treeguards more of a blessing than trouble. If you aggro a single one, its usually easy to out run it and it will eventually forget about you, acting as a guardian against hounds and pigs you falsely encourage to attack them.

Favorite: Spider Queen. Why? It just seems to be the easiest one for me to kill and I also love the drops. You can't just deny the spider eggs...

Least Favorite: Deerclops. Why? Hard to kill. High Damage. Destroys my base. Nuff' said.

Hardest: Deerclops. Why? His high damage and long range make him a pretty hard foe. His sanity drain is also something I don't love since battles with him/her is pretty damn long. Destructive behavior is a big burden too....
