Wigfrid mains, what do you want from her skill tree upgrade?

What would you add if you called the shots?

Be it new songs, new battle mechanics, new crafts, a shield, perhaps even a revolutionary mechanic that let's her eat lots of food in order to double her damage. I don't think that's ever been done before and it would be cool haha.

 

Anyway, if you don't make it known what you want, it will never EVER have a single chance of getting in. My uncle works for klei and I'll tell him.

Add more instant use songs. The current two are horrendiously terrible. My idea to buff the current two is to make the startling song make mobs it effects take 25% more damage for a short time, and the rude song makes Wigfrid and nearby allies take 25% less damage for a short time. I think those two changes alone would fix Wigfrid and make her less mindless.

THIS! While I personally don't think there'll end up being any changes to preexisting crafts via the skill trees due to the coding put into each item (I'm not a coder nor have I even seen the code for the items, but going off what I've seen so far, skill trees haven't made any changes to crafted items yet.

Although niche and probably unpopular; Wigfrid could get a few new instant songs. One off the top of my head could work like the One Man Band for a brief period of time, causing any nearby recruit-able mobs like Pigmen to join you and be your companions, yet it could also be used to tend to a field of crops. 
I don't consider myself to be good at all when it comes to game design, so take this random daydream suggestion as such-

Not quite sure if it counts, but there's Wormwood's bramble husk skill. I don't know if it's possible to make changes to crafted items themselves, but as seen with Wormwood, it is possible to change how the character interacts with the item, and since only Wigfrid can use her songs, it would probably be possible to implement changes to the songs through the tree's skills.

OH! I didn't realize that- I kinda overlooked Wormwood's stuff, even though they're very strong now. That's my bad ^^

At this point, they might as well add a perk for being able to eat non meat dishes since there's already so many exceptions

I’m not a Wigfrid Main, but she was my Secondary main.. up until her rework left me completely disappointed and dissatisfied. The reason very little cool content was done for Wigfrid was because most the forums were whining “She’s fine as is!”

That may be true… but when you have Wormwood Summoning Saladmanders, Wolfgang Yeeting Fire & Icedumbells, And Woodie being able to carve new tools with Lucy Axe- Wigfrid feels shafted.

If Wigfrid was to gain a shield in DST it should grant her an ability similar to Moose Woodie (a Charge forward with a shield bash into the target)

Last Night I was playing Woodie and decided to “Charge” into a Brightshade, this isn’t the most optimal way to kill Brightshades.. but I was bored and it was fun.

For Klei to “Fix” Wigfrid for me, inspiration needs to last significantly longer then it currently does, she should get a Spear throw similar to Wolfgang tossing Dumbells, and the above mentioned Shield bash.

Everything else (particularly boosting the usefulness of her song scrolls..) would just be icing on the cake.

Unfortunately.. no other character has gotten Brightshade or Void craftables, they’ve merely gotten perks that make their already existing abilities more useful against planar damage.

So your kinda hoping for all the wrong things here, and to be fair.. I think Klei wants the focus of Void/Bright to be on the weapons you can craft from them.

If Wigfrid was to say gain a skill perk that lets her dip her battle spears over into a smolting table & lace them in whatever Bright/Void monsters are weak against then it would kinda devalue the entire point of the Bright/Void gear.

That said: I defiantly don’t want a Wigfrid that eats Veggies..

New buildable structure thats similar to wickers bookshelf but repairs durability on wigfrids weapons and helmets.

I considered that too. Like an armory. It would be very powerful. I'd almost settle for such a structure that consolidated weapon durabilities

I feel that Inspiration draining slower is going to be a given with her skilltree
here's something I wrote over a year ago for an idea I had for Wig

I hardly use the songs unless I'm going into a boss fight, and considering inspiration builds up not just during bosses but at all times, it feels like they were intended for broader use in more fights and situations. But inspiration drains too fast for small scraps, and having to throw away 3 slots for some extra buffs that you'll probably hardly get the chance to really get the use out of is rough. Having just one item hold a certain loadout that you'd like to use would encourage me to actually keep it on me.

I think it'd be neat if Wigfrid got some beefalo buffs actually. Not like a whole branch of the tree dedicated to them, but perhaps just a small extra affinity with the beasts like faster taming time or more damage. Maybe more craftable saddles? That one feels like a waste but eh.

Overall though, I do appreciate how the main bulk of what makes Wigfrid unique is kept to her own interactions with herself (Only eats meat, heals health and sanity, takes less damage, deals more) instead of relying on craftable items. I feel adding too many more would just make her more complicated. Like, she's really in a good spot that I enjoy! I really can't think of much more! She's completely overshadowed by other characters in most regards, but, dang, if her gameplay isn't tight.

Despite me saying I don't want her burdened with too many craftables, I actually love this. Feels kind of like Wigfrid gets unique sidegrades to main progression equipment, which is nice enough to spice up the general rinse & repeat loop

pls no, I'd rather just have an actual system to repair gear than just "Stick it in glorified chest until its healed"

plus the bookshelf kind of invalidates playing wickerbottom past crafting the books as Maxwell can use them infinitely with it, would hate to see Wigfrid be treated the same way

I just had a pretty ingenious idea that would not only improve Wigfrid significantly but would hopefully give further use to those (mostly useless) song scrolls.

When using a Sea Fishing Rod you can equip a Lure & a Bait to it, these 3 items take up inventory slots UNTIL you apply them to the Fishing Rods slots then it only takes up 1 slot while retaining the Lure & Bait attached.

So… Wigfrids Song scrolls have got to go.

Maybe give her a Lute, or a Harp, or even just let her create Panflutes more easily, And apply scrolls to it same as you would a Sea Rod.

Perhaps (with enough skill points invested..) it can even store two or three of those scrolls at once, and just like the Summon/Sooth/Rile/Dismiss commands on Abigail’s Flower, Wigfrids Panflute can store scrolls and while hovering over the Musical Instrument additional button commands can be added so she can choose which song to play.

This frees up Inventory space Scrolls would normally Occupy… but, before we get anything like that- Inspiration needs to actually last outside of boss combat.

A perk that slows or halts inspiration loss so songs can be used more often outside of combat.

More songs.

A sheetbook craftable that acts like the codex umbra but for song casting (songs have to be added first) allowing wigfrid more inventory space, less preplanning, and easier roaming.

Klei opens up orders for a custom made key weight that Wigfrid players can use to hold down "f" to truly make them feel good about winning the game due to their overwhelming gaming skills and choice of character.

I posted this in another thread a while back, but I’d like for her battle spear to be buffed 

I like how wigfrid excels at combat not only because of her combat abilities but also because of her ability to craft good armor for cheap. I think it’d be fun if this extended to weapons as well, as her battle spear isn’t very good and not worth making usually

i think it’d also give her a fun niche for late game; if you use her upgraded spear she’s really powerful, even against planar mobs; however, you’re limited to just using your spear/helmet if you want to excel the most, and you miss out on the special perks of late game weapons and armor.

wigfrid’s Valkyrie helmet and spear are a huge part of her character, both identity wise and combat wise, so I hope that they’ll still be relevant late game; playing wigfrid just isn’t the same when I’m not using those

1 Spear Branch,  4 skills

Make more spears, use spears for additional 10% damage

→ use spears for additional 20% damage

→ use spears for additional 30% damage

Breakthrough skill: Throw a spear to interrupt enemy attacks

2 Inspiration Branches, 4 Skills 

Halve the speed of inspiration decrease

→ Gain 1 additional inspiration per attack

→ Dodge enemy attacks and gain 1 inspiration

Breakthrough Skill: Retain up to 10 points of inspiration after leaving the battle

3 Battle Song Branches, 4 Skills

Singing battle songs is very fast

→ The effective time of battle songs is extended by 2 seconds

→ Each use of battle songs increases movement speed by 10%

Breakthrough skill: The battle song can be activated once extra, which means you can read one battle song twice

4 Navigation Branches, 3 Skills

Reduce all damage of the boat by 30%

→ Make the boat turn more flexibly

→when attacking on boat，increases damage by 20%

5 Shield Branches, 4 Skills

I:   Unlock the shield, and other weapons can be linked to the shield ( fishing gear and fishing rod) 

II: link mode, deal fan shaped AOE damage every three attacks

III:  Right click the screen consumes 10 inspiration.，ues the shield to block an attack . If a block fails, reduce 10 additional inspirations

IV:  After successful block ,the next attack will be a heavy strike (high priority), and if it is a spear, it will be a spike attack

6 Courage Branches, 3 Skills

Reduce additional damage by 5% when there are 3 or more enemies

→ Reduce additional damage by 10% when there are 5 or more enemies

→ Reduce the time when actions are interrupted by 20%

7 shadow/moon Branches, 4 skills

Shadow damage+10% → Shadow  damage+20%

Moon  damage+10% → Moon damage+20%

Rude interlude -> draw enemies aggro for some time, during this effect the enemy will ignore other attackers, focusing on Wigfrid. Work on Bosses too

Startling soloquility -> This song becomes so startling now that even makes enemies freeze (with its already existing panic ability)

Firefroof falsetto -> becomes weatherproof falsetto gives players some insulation against overheat, freeze and raining

And better inspiration gaining against non-boss creatures. A consumable item for instant inspiration gaining could do.
