Small gateway detail inconsistency

Recommended Posts

The whole thing is inconsistent. Instead of a proper constructed gateway like the ancients had, it's made of wood! It's all rickety and rackety, this has no right to be so gosh darn funny to me but it is(in a good way). The big lead up to the gateway being repaired and it looks like a middle schoolers first woodworking course.

"Slap some glue on there... that should hold it together"

It’s definitely meant to be stone but it does look a bit weird

Are you sure? I and friends have agreed that it looks like wood, I'm curious how you came to stone.

If it actually IS meant to be stone, then dang! I don't know what to say about that, haha.

i mean why would we need dreadstone to fix it if it was made of wood wouldn't a few boards do a better job at fixin it?

The dreadstone is already clearly visible as the "glue" to repair the gateway in-game! It has a very distinct look from other materials, pure black with red glint.

Given how it looks in the trailer (which I know isn’t a completely accurate design but they wouldn’t make it THAT different) and how the broken portal almost definitely is some kind of stone, it’d make no sense at all for it to suddenly be wood imo. Also, in the Taking Root trailer we see the dreadstone turn into the pieces used to repair the portal

It's super weird.
I can sorta see both if I squint.
The coloring and all looks the same in the end, it may be stone.

I think, I'm just going to stop thinking about this and move on because none of it makes any sense to me, . Adios!

To me, I think it's almost certainly stone, simply for the fact that there is nothing substantial (Relics, pillars, psuedoscience stations, turf) made out of wood in the entirety of the ruins. You'd imagine there'd at least be a precedent elsewhere if their most powerful artifact was made out of wood-

Wait.... Splumonkey pods... Ornate chests... My god...

The monkeys were the ancient architects the whole time... This changes everything...

Compared to the old one, the new gateway does look more like wood board because it uses darker colors, more elongated lines texture and a thin edge that makes it look like a slab rather than a column.

But I guess it's just a matter of art, renovating gateway produced a lot of them because it was added a long time ago. Abnormal shaking, red stripes on the bottom, magic effects on the cross section, top side horn, ammonite, dreadstone position, etc

Now people are starting to misunderstand it, i hope it can get some adjust.

I don't see what are people talking about it being 'wood' ingame. It looks more refined and chiseled in the animatic compared to more worn down and dusty ingame version. It's stone for sure, even has edges roughly cut and sharp like some of it broke off.

These 3 small pieces. If klei update the game like how they make ocean update, this coulda been a quest line where we carry these to atrium to fix portal. How to obtain these 3 pieces could have been a quest line of their own.
I feel like klei listened to player and decide to remove all those questline and just let Charlie carry all 3 pieces instead.

You guys really thought it was wood I feel mind blown rn, I always thought it was the same material as the pillars, which doesn't look like wood at all!
