Mike owns a cursed copy of the game

More likely, mikes playing on Xbox that’s still several patches and hotfixes behind PC, I know for a fact it work as of yesterday- I had no other resources or light sources and was caught at night with just the glow from some pure brilliance I had tossed on the ground.. to my surprise it kept me alive through the night.

Same for some particular lines for other characters items, like Maxwell's inspection line for the chorus box circuit, or wendy's/ wx-78 inspection lines for the second chance watch.

I love how equipping a second chorusbox circuit on WX adds an additional instrument to the song.

This means that, at some point, in the history of every dimension, the Pigs were an invasive species, till they filled in a niche. Maybe this (plus Hamlet's Pigs' racism) led to the natural hostility between Spiders/Pigs/Merms. If some animated videos are to be considered as lore evidence, spiders might actually be somewhat intelligent. Maybe enough to hold a grudge against an entire species (racism).

Hamlet should just come to brasil already and make it into DST.

I love these details!
Originally done to make characters fit hats, it's been a key part of some cute visual changes to characters!
Wurts fins do change their angle when wearing hats, but some other characters have minor changes too!

Wigfrid takes off her crown when wearing hats in her shadow skin, for example! Subtle, yet cute.

I wish it worked that way for magmatic. but it's good for shadow.

I only noticed this yesterday but using rotten items, glommer's goop, crock pot meals, event candy and seeds will make wet compost (left) which is shown with green, and using cut grass, twigs, cut reeds, and both pine cones and birch nuts(both cooked and uncooked variant) will create dry compost (right) shown with yellow. There are probably more that i didn't find

That's the entire point of the compost bin. Edible things count as wet ingredients and plant-things, as dry stuff. The goal is to put half wet, half dry so that compost comes out as fast as possible, otherwise it takes longer to make and character's will comment how it's too wet/dry

I did not know that

Something that’s more relevant with the new Cult of the Lamb pet added:

For anyone who doesn’t know, you can actually lock in a pet’s “dominant” trait (the trait that shows up on the pet’s name) via feeding them any food with the “goodie” type (taffy is the easiest option, but jellybeans and the winter’s feast/hallowed night’s candies will also work). Doing so will prevent the trait from being replaced/removed by any action whatsoever.

It should be noted this change is permanent (feeding it another goodie will not unlock the trait), meaning the only way to get a different trait is to abandon/readopt the pet.

I did this to lock in the “crafty” trait on my lamb pet, mainly so it can understand the joy of being a megabaser when I do bulk crafting sprees!

that's quite the obscure mechanic

you can only know that if you read the pet code I guess

Sorry if it's been mentioned but if you look close on a snowy day, you might see some special snowflakes in the shape of glommer, deerclops head, rose etc. Completely forgot that over the years.

Isn’t that only during Winter’s Feast? I noticed those in the Winter’s Feast menus but never realized it happened in-game as well (though I had noticed the snowflakes change during the event)

That's possible, I will check that later. Might be part of the reason why I forgot

EDIT: You're correct, snowflakes only have a shape during Winter's Feast. Though I can't see the special shapes... Maybe only during the actual event? Or I'm blind.

During first forge there were 2 slightly different menu themes, one for title card and a more epic one sinks in once you hit play and go in main menu where the champion is revealed standing there all menacing and cool. So basically the music gets extra intense the moment you see your main enemy and it gave me chills every time. I loved that part a lot.

his favourite dish is more filling than his max hunger

His favorite dish is perfect in so many ways, it's lore-accurate, it fills more than his max hunger, AND you need another character to even get it in the first place

Getting nostalgic about some of the older DS mobs that actually are a lot more complex than most folks would realize.
Feeling like having a trivia moment now.

Depth Worms are a very notable example I don't think a lot of people realize are as in-depth as they are. I know some people knew they ate grass/twigs, but did you know that they actually travel around and try to find comfortable spots to make homes in? They often look for places with lots of harvestable resources nearby. Once settled in, they'll eat said resources in an attempt to get something to fall for its lure. They'll usually hang out in their settled home from there on out.
