What is your opinion on crossover character?

Recommended Posts

Would you be okay with it? This thread was inspired by Lambert crossover fanart that Klei retweeted on Twitter, do you think it will ever happen and if it did happen will it fit into DST Lore, or do you think it should be considered as non-canon?

I personally don’t mind crossovers, especially when it takes a very popular film or licensed brand and adds content from it.

For example the new season 2 for Fall Guys includes a Freaking Xenemorph skin from the Aliens franchise.. now that’s just cool.

Why am I mentioning this specifically? Because Don’t Starve very briefly cameo’s in one of the old Aliens Vs Predator Movies.

So if you want to get technical- DS/T has already crossed over into that franchise..  And at the very least we could potentially someday see Hallowed Nights Costumes from the Franchise.

And if I worked at Klei I would be thinking to myself I already have a playable demon like creature with a tail that uses souls to teleport, heal itself and eat… I literally have the foundation for a cool Xenomorph skin already.

This should be the way to add a crossover character, not as a new character but as a skin to an already existing character with similar powers, attributes, design etcetera.

Well if they remove Walter with Heisenberg I don't think anyone will complain :)

Why are a bunch of you people from these forums so against Walter and his character kit? If you don't like him, not playing him is the logical step and that's that. I for one don't fancy Maxwell, Wortox and Warly, plus to some extent Wurt and Webber, but I don't make a fuss about them. Not everything must be to everyone's taste. Yes, Walter is a quite punishing character if played slightly wrong, hence a more difficult character to dwell as; yet the choice always is in your hands: don't play as him. And if other people do, and fail, and for some reason they proverbially step on your flabby mojo with hard-metal heels doing so, either leave server (if pub) or ask them to pick something else, scram, or if you-yourself are "a peppy bundle of joy and good will", kick/ban (personal server). Rather simple. Is pretty tiresome so see same few people, even if jokingly, take a jab at this character in almost every topic about character fancies in player-base. Yes, I admit his kit seems pretty bloated, still - reworks "pumped up" each character perks anyway, hence Walter isn't "the odd one of the bundle" anymore.

As for cross-over character concept? Maybe, if done well. The Multiverse trope opened said Pandora's Box mainstream a long time ago.

Mb, I didn't mean for it to be offensive

Is not offensive, but a bit saddening. Imo Walter's under-appreciated, and doesn't deserves this bad rep apparently he got (& being kept/maintained by certain recurrent detractors on these forums). Is more demanding to play as, certainly, but can be rewarding and fun if done right. Few know, for example, you can "walk" Klaus entire biomes away from his Sack in 2nd phase using 3-strike ranged strat to make it either fight collateral enemies or going the easy/pretty safe disposal route. Or doing the relaxed Krampus farming via birds in a self-sustained 1:9 Gold ratio "economy" via PK. Not to mention sniping enemies in general is quite amusing, more-so with Enlightened Crown equipped.

Not sure about a genuine actual character, but more crossover/spoof art would be nice.
Can't stop thinking about the originals.
Done by Jeff himself! Like, THE DS guy!

True, sorry again if the initial post was too aggressive, thanks for giving me a different perspective on Walter anyways.
