March Quality of Life Update Coming Next Week!

Both crafting systems have their upsides and downsides and I say they are both equal in how I enjoy them the day you can except that is the day you can stop all this bickering and understand the other side of the argument and give better suggestions to make the crafting system to appeal to others

They're like vargs but weaker and can only summon two hounds. They make later hound waves a lot easier since instead of something like 10 hounds right off the bat it's about 5 hounds, a varglet, and the possibility of 2 more hounds coming later from the varglets. I'm on something like day 300 without making a hound trap on the beta branch, it's great.

Wow, you sure are special.

Look, the menu will (likely) make the game more enjoyable for both new players and people who use the bundling wrap a lot. It is not made for you. Yes, it would be nice if more people could enjoy the ui, but the team either has no time or decided that making an option for the old ui is not worth the effort. I don't have the experience that you have, but you're probably going to get used to the new ui, eventually.

They've literally said why they were changing it.

Great work as usual guys! Super excited (didn't expect new skins but hey I'll take 'em!). The recent twitch drops and the other tease drops and posts makes me think you guys got something planned for the Sea content :shock:

Alright! This quality of life update is huge! I really hope the new crafting interface will be easy to use on Xbox. Obviously I'm more used to using the old one, but they've already said numerous times why they are changing it. Although searching by name won't really be an option for consoles, because when you are typing it freezes everyone, especially annoying if playing 2 player locally. Ancient guardian rework makes him so interesting I probably won't just bring 3 rock lobsters to kill him next time! And I'm so happy about being able to have several events on at once. Now that's a quality of life improvement!

Some people were also talking about what some of the new gothic skins looked like... Am I missing something? Did they get revealed already?

There's no need to shut this guy down for a valid argument. There really aren't that many arguments for the new menu anyways. People also have to remember that the menu didn't necessarily need a complete overhaul which it is getting now. The new favorites idea is good but it's not like they couldn't find a way to add a favorites tab or something like that in the *current* crafting system. 

 

Here's your direct quote of it in support of the menu from [which in itself doesn't have that much support for it outside of favorites, "ease of use", and good for new players [it only takes you a few play throughs to figure out where the key items are in the current system]. I think there's a search bar in the beta so that's helpful too. That sad, I doubt that the devs couldn't figure out a way to incorporate that into the *current* menu.

- your first point just says that its better to click -> click -> navigate -> click vs. click -> click -> scroll -> click [very marginal difference]

- second point is favorites, which is a good thing. However, I want to say that it can be incorporated into the current system if they really wanted to do so.

I would genuinely pay money to see that..

But I’m keeping my fingers crossed the announcements are Nintendo Switch edition release date reveal, Dedicated/Public Servers for Xbox (only PlayStation & PC have them.)

And the big one: Cross Platform Play.

All of the above would be good for Klei as a Business and for me as an Xbox Player, because THEN I would not need to worry about low population of players & can just play with anyone, anywhere, at almost anytime.

I hate to tell you this but Klei devs have stated time and time again that their dream was to someday make Dont Starve Cross-Platform capable.

Thats their pipeline dream for the franchise.. and it’s probably why your seeing so many changes to the crafting system and all the additional new servers, all necessary steps in getting them one step closer towards that pipeline dream.

Now of course: They can always change their mind and say nahhh were never ever doing cross platform play.. but last I’ve heard it’s still their Long-Term goal for the game.

If you don’t want to play with PC players, I’m pretty sure there will be an option setting to choose who you crossplay with or: Disable it completely.

There is a very high chance we will get details on if they still plan to do crossplay or not with their “announcement post.”

Console needs a several of improvements by himself (performance, teleport, some weapons and features - see bug reports)

The communities are big enough. No need cross plataform.

I mean, these already happen on the platforms by themselves, nothing really changes with these three by bringing the platforms together.

It's as simple a solution as not letting console players join modded servers.


Of course there's problems that comes with cross platform, that's with every new feature or design, but it's not so terrible to figure out the solutions to the problems that come with cross platform that the possibility should be pushed aside.

Well, it's something the developers really wanna do, and a long time ago a developer had mentioned they were working on relaxing the restrictions on cross platform and working on servers from their tech on Forge/Gorge. and hey, we did get those new Klei Officials with that supposed tech. Cross platform play may be sooner than you think ;-)
