I like reading long analysis posts, including yours about minigames and "boxes", and I'm sure there are also people like me in that regard. It's my personal preference, but I would like to see more of them even if I won't agree with them in the end, even if I argue for 5+ pages (which just shows that I care about the matter). Same for art, but without arguing part: not only it can be a pleasure to me as forumite to see it, it may inspire me or others for the same activity, and contribute to forums being more pleasant place in the end.

Getting the conversation back on track to Wolfgang, I'll repeat the idea about simply carrying the dumbbells in your inventory giving you passive mightiness gain in exchange for slowing you down. More gold dumbbells and even more stone ones would be needed and take up more inventory slots to give similar mightiness as a single gembell, but the lighter ones still would have their place slowly increasing mightiness for less movement speed loss.

Dumbbell throwing is also just laughable, even Winona and her catapults adore how cute it is. If its durability cost isn't tuned down this mechanic should offer some unique debuff to actually encourage using it. Nothing crazy, but something that'd make you want to craft and bring cheaper dumbbells to weaken a boss somehow.

I think you won't have to worry much about this. Wanda, Wigfrid and Wortox are all competent and great characters to learn taking on new tough challenges like bosses imo. Wanda has easier kiting and if one stuffs their inventory enough clocks has decent healing (her design by nature disregards food farms new players might be less familiar with), Wig has natural regen, strength and damage resistance, and Wortox has an easier time than most kiting and healing.

Of course there are nuances (and apparently too much imaginary "dogmatic" & "toxic" exaggerations flying around), but that's beside my point. I just want to see where each of the KLei forums' regulars stands and, perhaps, which ones give "vehement" opinions without actually having personal experience to back them up. Since, yes, watching some video and playing yourself in various scenarios game will throw at you makes difference, at least for personal play-style relevant analysis. More-so if one that, let's say hasn't played at all Wolf prior to his rework makes again-and-again "hot and strong" posts regarding how better he might now be compared to initial iteration of the character. You know, the old folks saying "pulling stuff out of one's ..moist, fragrant and dark back door" thingy.

 

Server pickings wise, you can't make your main character (Wurt) shine whatever you do in your personal server or pubs, is rock-bottom last but one, beside Wes. Since we're debating character popularity in bulk player-base, not how we feel about our favorites.

 

Am pointing my remark mostly at people with DST character-avatars as a fun observation (since those can be "in direct competition" en large). Sure, has some implications, but not too important. In reworked Wolf's case pub numbers "speak" for themselves: even after his release, public servers were consisting at ~1/3-1/2 of Wolfgangs, whereas, during previous characters' reworks, mentioned servers were almost full of that time's reworked character.

I never and ever advocate to nerf Wolfgang and hear... people crying because their main is being nerfed?!? Wtf?

My comment you picked at random was directly tied to a specific person, which was talking non-sense like "you don't need armor, just git gud" or other things and so i picked him as a troll and playing at his game. I can think he is no more here since i bet he was there only during the "wildfires" of the forum, just to create more chaos.

I'm pretty sure calling out names would break forum tos and get this thread locked immediately but yes I'm aware of at least 1 of the developers who's been actively making fun of the people who didn't like the rework (me primarily) and who I'm pretty sure has also taken part in a harassment campaign against me by some immature people on a discord server who try to make me and my friends look bad and falsely accuse me of doing and saying things I never did

another funny thing said developer did was dm me a pretty childish response then blocked me immediately afterwards so I couldn't respond lmao

I know I have a huge ego too but at least I'm not the one who's supposed to behave professionally lol

it's whatever now though, I really have no interest in the game anymore, these days I only hop on dst for a few minutes a day at most to talk with friends, but I guess I have nothing else to lose

 

This shed another light about Klei that i don't know if i wanted to know. 

I already suspect a long time ago Klei lost their touch but this... sheesh. This is slimy. Slimy as the developers not announcing no further additions or fixes for Wolfgang in the forums, the centre of all the community and Don't Starve, but in a random discord.

Well for the dear zarklord, unless you change the bio-genetics of plants, plants don't run. 

If anything a plant should have been slower when drastic climate change like winter or summer....

(I'm really fine and okay that Wolf doesn't have speed, especially for his character being the strongman, but this logic doesn't seems a fair excuse)

Its really sad to see how Klei cant acknowledge how they ruined Wolfgang as a character for so many players after rework. People are pissed off, the fitness aesthetic gameplay was fun at the begginig but grown boring. They promised to keep tracking feedback but oh well, they only see what they want to see －positive reviews only...

Well, at least they cared to rework entire Wendy rework to make her fans play her again with actual fun and pleasure. It is truly shame Klei dont feel the same way about Wolfgang

I want add a more thought out perspective.

Klei is listening to feedback still, if they weren't they would tell us "The changes we have gotten in the Wolfgang Rework are final" or something along those lines. So I would like the pessimism this thread has gotten infected with to, you know, die down, or not, I don't make the rules, or enforce them (if I did the world would be utopia (•‿•) ).

However I will state that klei's almost radio silence regarding feedback isn't the correct way either. But Klei isn't being as malicious as people are making out it out to be, instead it's more like, negligence.

Klei dev team stated that they all agreed Wolfgang would not get back his speed in any way shape or form, anyone still fighting to get that part of him back should just give up…

HOWEVER- They did say they would take in Feedback on the rework and May tweak/adjust him after the rework has been out for a bit.

To see threads discussing Wolfgang at all (even threads that don’t mention speed anywhere within them..) getting locked- Worries me that they may indeed be “Happy” with where his rework is at now & moving on to whatever’s next on the content schedule.

Then AGAIN… It’s also highly highly possible that these upcoming 3 QoLs & “Setting the Stage” updates will make changes both Big & Small to characters within the game- Similar to how Wormwood & Wurt both got QoL tweaks when the Reap What You Sow update came out or how Webber got Nurse & Water Spiders.

Therefore: It’s also possible Wolfgang related topics are being locked because they have future plans for him, Because let’s just be honest: Most the changes people are asking for on him would require all new animations and game mechanics- And Klei doesn’t just make those things in 2/3 weeks time.. it could realistically be months before something like that could be done.

The only thing I personally wish is for Klei Devs to state rather the rework is finalized and they’re leaving him as is & moving on, OR if they are still brainstorming ideas to better represent the “Mighty” Wolfgang.

or contrary opinion - if they were going to do anything they'd say something to engage the community and try to build positive support.  If they aren't going to do anything the worst thing they could do is engage the community, as it simply invites more feedback on an already negative situation they want to pivot from.  I take their silence 100% as a sign they will do absolutely nothing to current Wolfgang.

actually is even worst because the same volume of muscle is heavier than fat so, unless you train your leg muscles with aerobic exercises, you will be way slower
