What is your 2022 DST wishlish?

Recommended Posts

Happy 2022! This year's roadmap will likely hopefully be coming out soon-ish (maybe in February?) so I figured now's the best time for this thread. What are your wishes for DST this coming year? Could be content, QOL updates, character refreshes, new characters, etc. Here's a few things I'm personally hoping to see (in no particular order).

  • Maxwell refresh
    • tbh, I think he should have been refreshed before Webber. I think he needed it more. I'm hoping he's the next refresh anyway.
  • Summer update
    • I would love to see summer get some TLC. Was really hoping the summer solstice even last year would be this, but alas.
  • Ancient archive content
    • This was one of my favorite updates in RoT. Am really hoping it get's expanded upon as it looks like there's some unused content there.
  • More ocean content
    • This one is likely to happen imo. Would be excited to see more out there in the great sea.
  • Late game content/changes
    • As other threads have noted there's really no difference between day 100 and day 1000. I would also be interested to see this change. One idea I had would be to have an iceberg form (and grow larger) in the oceans every winter. Then randomly one summer it melts and floods part of the mainland (kind of like areas in shipwrecked that are part land part water). Could add some interesting mechanics/content around this.
  • QOL
    • Also likely to happen. Would have to think some more about what specifically I'm hoping (my biggest QOL request was 64 bit and that's been added now).

There's my list :D What is on your DST 2022 wish list?

  • Cookie Cutter Shell drop rate buff
    • pls <3
  • Wurt and Walter changes
  • QoL updates
    • QoL updates generally have a "theme"/main piece of content. The first QoL update gave us cookbook and compendium, the March QoL update gave us world gen settings improvements. The recent QoL update gave us the ability to pause.

I'd like to see a QoL update that focuses on the building aspect of DS/T. I'm sure we all know the pain of how you have to build things in a certain order or else you won't be able to place things as close together. Turf crafts like wooden flooring, carpeted flooring, marble flooring and etc could give multiple per craft. They're purely decorative in the end after all. We could get a vanilla version of geometric placement at last. I would LOVE to see new craftable carpets, Not like turf, but like the Merm King and YoTB/C carpets you see. These have unique shapes instead of the usual blocky shape of turf and could open for some really cool decorative options. I like to do the structure stacking exploit just so I can get the cool carpets of the Merm King under my structures lol. Could get a loom structure for carpets perhaps?

My favorite idea, I'd love to see some way to control the overlapping of turfs. So you could maybe somehow set the side of a tile to overlap over the tile next to it and customize sides of turfs. I'm sure we've all had that pain with turf priority where some turfs overlap onto others. Being able to control these "overlaps" for each tile and edge could be really cool and open up some more decorative opportunities. This is likely too much work than worth and would require a little rework of the turf system on the engine side, but it's still something I'd really like to see. I'll be happy with just carpets.

Wurt -snip- changes

Ahh yes, I can agree with this. I still have not weaved Wurt because I don't think she's worth it. If the murm king didn't need to be fed so often I think that would be hugely beneficial. Currently I don't think it's worth it for the followers to only follow Wurt for four days.

More lovely ocean content! One more type of shard would beawesome (like having an open sea run on a separate server).

Also a rework for the pet system. The annoyance of the pets know no boundaries. >_> Even a slight rework could make the pets a lot more fun, and they have a lot of potential.

Minor tweaks and bugfixes to make the game more convenient in some places would be stellar as well.

that webber and wortox can do something in the year of the catcoon

something more on the ocean, like, any sort of special island

new food type, like the weat from gorge, and new tasty food to make whit it

good character reworks refresh or what ever you want to call it

please add a playable lizard charater thank you

other cool fixes for existing characters, like wurt needs clearly more work

Honestly I can't think of what they'll do in terms of major updates since we just hit the end of Return of Them recently.
If they don't start another lineup of content updates I'd love to see...

- The rest of the character refreshes.
(Hoping for WX next!)

- Touchups on existing characters.
(Not entire refreshes but everyone's been begging for Wurt changes, and people have definitely had some choice words about Wolfgang.)

- General QoL changes the community's been asking for.

- Some new content in next year's holiday updates.
(New moves for Winter's Feast Bearger, GMoose, and Dragonfly? More reskinned bosses? Door-to-door trick or treating?)

- PLEASE new craftable turf skins. Or the Beard Hair Rug from Hamlet. I'd love to see more turf customization for base building.

Walani as a playable character like they ported over Wormwood & Warly.

Why? Because I can play as Walani through the entire Single player Campaign of Solo Dont Starve: a Mode where there’s not a single body of water anywhere in sight, it will ALWAYS feel like an Injustice if she never becomes playable in a game that actually has many bodies of water, Plus: All those beautiful skins potential :)

Redesigning all of the games biomes with new content, and old unused content using assets from Shipwrecked/Hamlet/Gorge/Forge in those locations: For example- Imagine a new island out at sea that is similar to Shipwreckeds Volcano but uses art assets and some of the mob designs from Forge.

I also want to finally hear an announcement on rather or not Klei plans to do anything to further support the Next Generation consoles.

Those things would be what I’d wish for most :)

English is not my native language, the following content is machine translation

1. Before the start of the game, choose a character (or change character), add a random button for all skins (including clothes, hands, pants, shoes), because now only the head skin is random for selecting random characters, I need one "True" Random

2. There can also be a button with a random skin when making items in the game

3. Add fishbook, complete the study of Ocean fishes and put the fish into the Fish Scale-O-Matic, you can write its information into the book, similar to Pruduce Scale, Gardener Hat and Cookbook,

There is too little information about ocean fishes in the game. I don’t want to open the wiki every time I want to check ocean fish information. How many people have made Pocket Scale haha

Please refer to DST WIKI

Please KLEI
thank you!!

Oh I forgot! If you can, please add a random skin button for Friendly Scarecrow

- Year 2+ seasonal variations. Just like Bearger shows up in the second Fall, more seasonal variety would add a lot to the game after the first year.

- Track caught sea fishes weight in the compendium along with the giant crop weight. Make the pocket scale work on giant crops.

- Diving locations at sea. Coral reefs, shipwrecks, flooded caves, and sunken ruins all filled with new bizarre creatures both friendly and not. Fast underwater currents can really spice up Don't Starve's movement based combat mechanics.

-Ruins refresh, it's such an interesting area but so outdated

-Gateway arc connected to RoT. I've already explained how Klei should do that so I'm not going to repeat myself. Mumsy and Billy as NPCs somewhere on the mainland which trade resources for gorge-themed stuff such as sugarwood tree saplings, wheat/beetroots seeds, decorations, new crockpot recipes

-I'd like Klei to focus on refreshing old content while adding progression and randomness to dst

-Finish the reworks. It's been over 3 years and we're still missing 4 characters. At this point early reworks and characters will become outdated before we're done with reworks. I mean, people already request Wurt, Walter and Winona changes

My wishlist, maybe y'all agree or don't.

Characters:

  • Refreshes of Maxwell and WX of course
  • Walter refresh (his kit feels all over the place)
  • Tweaks to Wolfgang (I know this has been buried to the center of the earth at this point, but its the most talked about thing in these forums these days)
  • Minor tweaks to Wurts Merm King and Wetness mechanics

Content:

  • Even more fleshed out boat mechanics (reinforcements, better mast turning, maybe even swimming mechanics)
  • More ocean biomes
  • Refreshes to current existing biomes (aka 80% of the caves are there with nothing to do in them)
  • More story branches like the FW branch and CC branch (aka early and late game content)

QoL:

  • Literally everything in the QoL thread cause the list goes on an on but here are a few examples
  • More world generation options like separating boons and setpeices
  • Unify structure placements (you can place a ice box close to the crock pot but God forbid you do the exact opposite)
  • Fix wall repair system (why do we need more resources to repair a wall than to build a new one)
  • New compendium pages such as a bestiary, fish log, item log, etc
  • Be able to change order of the items in crafting menu

My wishlist's mostly just QoL features like these :D.

  • Allow switching between server modes after a world's creation
  • Allow switching between game modes after a world's creation
  • Insanity volume being separated from ambient volume
  • Gesture Wheel-like feature for being able to preform emotes more efficiently than now
  • More world generation settings like archipelago
  • A lot more HD textures for stuff which are low res like driftwood log which is 64x64
  • Hover info for when hovering over a setting in the settings area then new players can know what they do
  • Mod presets/collections (like how it works in tModLoader, if you've played that before) which the player can basically select mods and add them to this preset/collection then you can just enable the preset/collection to enable all those mods at once
  • World seeds which the player can basically have an area when creating a world to input a seed then it always generates that specific world like how Minecraft and Terraria do it

A fix to the old music being too loud and new music being too quiet. Seriously, I get the jumpscares when I decide to hit a spider during winter and the music kicks in, and have to connect my computer to my sound system everytime I fight the Celestial Champion so I can at least hear the best music in the game.
