I'm curious what each of the characters say when examining Wagstaff. Can you pool together all your knowledge?
So far I only know of WX's: "YOU"

Walter  "Hey Mister, are you okay? You're uh... flickering...?",

Warly  "Bonjour! Are you in need of assistance?",

Wigfrid "Hail stranger! Are ye friend or foe?",

Maxwell "What is he up to now?",

Webber "Should we help him? I don't mind, but he's not so sure...",

Wendy "He flickers and fades... perhaps he's a spirit?",

Wickerbottom "He seems to be conducting research on the storm, I should assist him.",

Willow "Uuuugh, old people always seem to need help with something or other.",

Wilson "As a fellow man of science, I'm compelled to help him!",

Winona "Mr. Wagstaff! Is that really you?",

Wolfgang  "Do not worry, Wolfgang is here to help flickery science man.",

Woodie "Looks like you're doing somthin' important. How aboot I lend you a hand, eh?",

Wormwood "Hello! Oh, goodbye... oh, hello!",

Wortox "Hyuyuyu! He's not all there!",

Wurt "Is another scaleless? Can't smell him, florpt...",

Wx-78 "YOU",

Thanks! Which characters are saying each?
(There are a few obvious ones, but I don't clearly see most of 'em)

A bit off topic but,

It feels "off"how trusting the survivors are with Wagstaff, I get that the survivors are pretty kind hearted people and treat eachother like family, but they just seem too "calm" about out a mysterious old man that shows up unarmed in a dangerous celestial tornado physically tearing up the ground around them...

I wonder if maybe Wagstaff uses the Moon's enlightenment as well to convince people or creatures he finds in the Constant to "aid" him since he seems to know more then us.

From what I have gathered so far, I don't see Wagstaff as a evil character, he may be more of a grey character but definitely Charlie and Maxwell are more bad then Wagstaff so far. I do think he is heavily tied to the moon, and might have a personal gain from the constant, but that can be said about a lot of DST characters. Wagstaff does seem to have a lot of knowledge of the constant, and may have either found similar readings to the book Maxwell had, or investigated the missing people(perhaps he lost someone too) because a lot of his inventions, such as the radio, are able to reach out to the constant without magical intervention. With that in mind, I do agree with some YouTubers, and think that the entity behind the moon might not be as good as our survivors might think, and in turn, might fool even Wagstaff too.

i don't think wagstaff is evil, since most of his quotes looks like he wants to bring the science and magic of the constant to the real word, like that belt hunger , if he becomes evil maybe is not even on porpuse

He seems like the next Maxwell to me. Maxwell didn't start out evil obviously. His hope of being a magician went down the toilet, he found a book that let him into the real thing, dabbled into things he shouldn't have, grew quite the ego and he let it consume him. He was compelled to bring others into the constant when he did get on the throne all the way up until Wilson freed him.

Wagstaff seems very fascinated, but things like wanting to bring nightmare fuel to the real world is a scary thought when you look at what happened to the ruins. He doesn't seem evil but he seems old enough to maybe not think logically all the time about the outcome of his actions. A sweet, senile but incredibly intelligent old man wrecking havoc.  Does he want to help? Or is he just doing research for his own reasons?

He has a keen interest in the nightmare throne when examined in singleplayer, you bet your butt he would say yes to going on the chair if offered. He has some sort of destiny he is chasing.

this one is interesting to me because it means webber knows wagstaff because the spider not trusting wagstaff doesn't make sense but we know webbers dad knew his way with machines and maybe worked with wagstaff and the reason webber might not trust him is something wagstaff did to him

As much as I like the theory it's a big logical jump to try and confirm outright that Webber knows Wagstaff. It may mean that, but it definitely isn't concrete.

The quote can just as easily be read as the boy-side wanting to help but his spider-side not. Whether this be due to natural skepticism not shared by the child, or something like animal instinct.

but its weird for his spider side to not trust him since hes trusted all the other humans so far so why not wagstaff for me its kinda a cunjumbled mess hell hes even fine with pearl but not wagstaff?

Wilson probably taught Webber the benefits of skepticism. :wilson_laugh:
